Love the vid, thinks it's one of the more simple ones. I have a 1970 CT70 that is in ok shape but I haven't road it for several years (it probably will need a carb rebuild)I've been enjoying my 1964 Ford Falcon. At some point I would like to do something like this (yes more speed), I've always checked out all the parts sites, it's amazing what is available. We are the lucky ones that have one of these gems. Looking for more vids.
Mike made it quick and easy for me since he pretty much does this every month, but it was pretty straight forward. You will need a battery box and a cheap $20 12V 3Ah battery to go with the new wiring and regulator. I think the coil came with this motor. I was concerned that maybe I should get the bigger motor but this Lifan 125 really gets it, and the CHP performance pipe lets it breath and makes great noises.

In my mind, once you put a big bore kit in it, it’s no longer stock, so putting in a different engine isn’t any worse.
Got the Skyteam Dax and i want the same engine or maybe the 150 😊. Bought it as a basket case so missing a lot of parts but got 2x 50cc engines with it. Think of going for a new Lifan from the start
Id toss a regulator, small fuse box along with a small battery system on there, very simple setups event he big sportbikes have very simple charging systems, 3 component, battery, stator, R/R.. diurwct to battery charge with inline fuse call it a day, then a small fuse block can run your headlights and signals at a constant brightness, obviously go LED everything, XHP50 Cree emitters for the headlights .. then yo have very bright lights, no fade, simple small 12 volt setup, fab it all up in the glovebox or make one for it, the small 3" x 4" x 2" 12 volt batt, small 2" x 2" regulator small, 1" x 1" x 3" fuse block, easy.. well worth the $150 or so for parts

Hi Mike im in the uk and ive a ST70 DAX and have a manuel Lifan 110 motor with electric start on it, im having a problem getting a wiring harness for it, i ordered one from Ebay and where as most of the colours sort of match ive found the plugs are totally different. can you either point me in the right direction or give me a clue of what to do. everything is done body wise and is now a rolling bike so as you can imagine im chomping at the bit now to get the engine in and get her up and running. thanks in advance, Keep them vids coming, Loving them. I purchase all my wiring harnesses from Trail Buddy. If the bike doesn’t have blinkers, like the bike in this video, I use Trail Buddy part# TB515. If the bike has blinkers, I use their part# TB422.

Yep. Personally, I’m not into any engine that doesn’t allow me to keep the bike looking as original as possible. Plus, I have zero desire to top 60mph on one of these. The Lifan 125’s are perfect for the look and speed I’m trying to achieve.
Hello Mike, do you have any information or video footage of electric engine conversions/conversion kits for the ct70? I saw trail buddy had one a while back but I wish to see more modern updates or a direction I and others can go.
IMO, Lifan’s are the most reliable engine available. Is it the “best”? That’s up to you and your needs. There are engines that have more horsepower and will send the bike faster. Honestly, these are meant to be throw away engines. After putting 10,000 miles on one, it’s cheaper to replace the entire engine, over buying parts for it. With that said, places like Tbolt USA stock a variety of top end parts. I don’t know if anyone that sells gear sets or parts for the bottom end.
He attempted two or three “fixes” to try and keep the original internal throttle. In the end, he went with the $15 Amazon throttle and it works perfect.
