In this video I wanted to sit down and have a real conversation about what sparked my journey into coding and how it has opened up so many doors in my life.
As someone who was in fashion, I never imagined a pivot into tech was possible. But the truth is, with self-determination and the right resources, anyone can teach themselves new skills. And learning to code has been one of the most rewarding challenges I’ve taken on.
In this video, I’m sharing exactly how I went from fashion to software developer within a year and sharing some of my favorite online resources. I’ll be transparent about the ups and downs, including some of the frustrating learning curves and intimidating interviews I faced trying to break into tech as a non-traditional candidate.
But ultimately, persisting through the self-taught coding process unlocked a doorway into a career I’m passionate about. It allowed me to leverage both my creative and analytical strengths. And it gave me the confidence to start my own tech company Taekoff!
My goal is to inspire you to take that first step towards exploring coding if it’s been lingering in the back of your mind. With focus and the right resources (which I’m happy to share!), anyone can add these skills to their toolkit - you don't need a computer science degree. The tech world needs more perspectives.

Wonderful journey Tiff. I had my own but with a different version and everyone else I believe. So true when it comes to fundamentals. When I tried to step on the programming world cause I love building stuff and designing solutions, I wanted to get on right away and just research what every obstacles and missing knowledge as I come across it but since I am new to it (which turned out to be a blessing) I had to read it from the books page by page. Because of this I am confident on taking projects even if I haven't done any for months. When you understand things from the very tiny details, you know how it works and everything else are just added parts or icing on a cake.
Very inspiring story. Congratulations on your accomplishments. I recently completed my Pro Certification from Codecademy for front-end web developer. I too am going through imposter syndrome and can relate to what you felt. I am so excited and nervous to begin my new journey.

Thanks for sharing your story. It's great that you discovered how rewarding it feels to create something with code.
My best wishes to you with the launch of the company, may everything turn out excellent ✨
All the Best Tiffany 👍 for the launch of your NEW COMPANY 🔥.
Thank you1! That means so much!! I hope you enjoy it!
You have such great energy, it is inspiring, keep it up. Cheers!
Yes thank you for sharing with us it's really helpful. As I'm just starting my journey as well. The info you give is very comforting.
Starting your own business is fantastic. I would love to hear from you-did you use an incubator program? How is your relationship with customers while modeling their requirements in the software engineering lifecycle? I'm eager to hear about your experience in that phase. For instance, do you use Waterfall, Agile - Scrum, or XP? Thanks for any tips on that.
Wow Tiff...this soooo sounds like me right now. I'm familiar with coding. I do have an IT degree but have been in Finance for the last 20 years but now here I am. Back in IT. I love it. It's my passion but man.....I feel looooossstt trying to learn all of this...(which 1st...Replit, GitHub, DBeaver, NodeJS...etc...AHHHHH!!)
Yes, BE VERY GLAD that the "business" program rejected you. They don't really have a clue in business. MOST (not all) business "graduates" turn into docile EMPLOYEES, not business owners. I became disinterested in Harvard Business School when I learned that pretty much EVERY YEAR their TOP graduates go into completely disrelated fields, e.g. religion, politics, or some other crazy field.
Thank you for the video ❤
Every person has very great story of his first code itself.
So true! Every story is unique!
Thx for good videos!
Can You make a video on Development Operations aka DevOps?
Pleeeeease!
I love the way you explain and I want to hear it from you.
intuition its important too? Aaron has some level of it! Ontario province has great woods, kinda warm for Canada,. and? expensive

Hi Tiff! Just signed up for CodeCademy and will also register for Taekoff right after. What would be the best course you would recommend to someone who is new in tech?

How Fashion learned me | My Code From Software Fashion to Founding my own Code to Code founding me
:D :D
are you a web developer
And me?
Do you think there is a age at which you are too old to learn to code?
No there's an interview with a 55 yr old who worked in restaurants break into software engineering. If you have a laptop have internet, have food, and have time, you can definitely learn.
I've personally trained data analysts and software engineers In the past, I moved into business intelligence but I'm back now
May i ask you something. If someone become expert in software developer code, how to upgrade to become like Mark Zuckerberg?
Yeah something like that. Thank you
👋🇺🇦
Wishing you a great day!!
