I really wish all wargamer's RUclips videos could do what you do - you managed cram all action, player reactions, the actual history AND some explanations of the rules - in only a few minutes. Much, much, much better than an unedited two or three hour video like some that are out there
@@madhog81nothing annoys me more when watching a battle report is to see the players moving every unit. It takes up so much time and is needless. The best channels know when to cut footage and to give a quick recap of the movement phases and then jump right back into the action.
Ah!!! Ulm, the battle where Napoleon's Corps System showed it's worth......OMG my jaw literally dropped when u people said that u are gonna play "Austerlitz"... Great minis, terrain & editing as always.
Excellent vid. Beautifully illustrated and well thought out. I can't watch a vid where the guy just drones on aimlessly about his game. Thanks for the snappy format but feel free to make it a little longer with more tactical detail. Grand tactical formations adopted and their suitability for the objective. Enjoyed it guys. Happy gaming.
All of these so far are very good. I'm kinda not surprised in a way. It's built into the nature of the hobby. Details, and lots of work ending in years of fun.
Aggressive but out numbered and (in this re-fight not so poorly commanded) Austrians out fight the French! Genius. More of this please. A good advert for Lasalle, not seen these rules played out before, I have a copy but have never got round to trying them out as I tend to play larger scaled games e.g. Blucher, Bloody Big Battles, Volley and Bayonet etc. Love the furry table BTW.
We also tend to go bigger battle most of the time, but for smaller actions Lasalle is a slick little game. It has a neat mechanic where there is no standard turn sequence--the players take whatever actions they want until they get interrupted. It makes for an unpredictable flow.
Wicked! Finally got to watch some of the new Lasalle rules in action. Our club will be using them in September, and I am looking forward to it. Thanks for this!
I would like to make a suggestion. Could you guys put your book citations in the video description? That would give us a chance to find some good books on the subjects of these battles. Thanks!
not kidding when you say quick! cant say i've seen 2 new things often but seeing a new tabletop wargame and a faster batrep that i've ever seen is amazing
Strip Minifigs from the 70s! Just as in my collection! I am delighted! Honor and praise to the little lead men who've been fighting now for nearly 50 years!
As always a great episode. It was great to see a video featuring 15mm figures. That shag carpet you were playing on was interesting. To me, it didn't seem very well suited to 15mm play. But a lot of people like it. You guys are the best. Look forward to Aspern-Essling.
You beat me to it. I thought I'd better check that I wasn't repeating what hundreds had said before. Lay - jer (where the j is like the s in vision. I think it sometimes gets written as zh in attempts at phonetic spelling).
Great inspiration !! Although i have one question. In 3.38 the French General moves a unit and at the end of the move he changes the formation from column to line. Do i miss something ; The change formation must be a diferrent order . Its not inluded in the move order as far as i know
Correct, it is a separate order. At the end of each order you execute the opponent in Lasalle MIGHT have an opportunity to interrupt. In this case--the particular footage you're seeing here--Miles did not interrupt. Steve was able to execute a move order, followed by a formation change, without Miles intervening. But they are separate actions as you indicated.
I live near to battle fied of Austerlitz , cant wait to see your battle report , also i recomandet you to visit reneactment battle that hapend here ( visit one of vilages with great great diorama )
I'm all for shorter videos with narrative structure and editing. I am not the audience for a roll by roll 3 x 1.5 hour epic. But I did wonder if 10 minutes is a little too short; I feared that maybe the format was more about teaching lessons in storytelling and editing by forcing people to distil their material right down rather than being the ideal short video format itself. I'm happily proven wrong, this didn't suffer at all from the very tight format, and having it as the precursor to a larger engagement offers something for everybody, and gets you more material out of your modelling efforts. I reckon I'll be shooting some stuff to upload before the year is out.
We hope you give it a shot! We intend to keep doing our full length, 30+ minute main episodes, but mixing in some shorter ones like this would allow us to do more wargames on the channel.
@@matthiuskoenig3378 Actually, perhaps he did. Mongol armies often included subject Chinese infantry and stone throwing artillery as well as the Mongol cavalry.
Where are these figures from? Do you know a reliable place to order these types of 15mm figures? Is this book good for 6mm figures? What bases do you use(size of the bases)?
This is a mix of two different companies--Battle Honors (sold by Old Glory USA) and Minifigs (a very old range!). You could absolutely play Lasalle in 6mm scale. Our 15mm figures are based for Age of Eagles, which is 1" deep by 3/4" wide (or 1x1 for cavalry). Lasalle is pretty agnostic about basing, which is nice since we don't like rebasing!
This was really awesome! I’m working on my first quick strike video now. Question: where did you get the mat/rug/fur used for the grass? I have been looking for something exactly like that!
The scale on the map of Europe has Paris and Antwerp about 20 miles from each other. In reality they're 187 miles apart in a straight line. It seems like you have '5 miles' when you meant '50 miles'.

We would hate to break the laws of wargaming, and so naturally we must proceed to the big showdown at Austerlitz!
An Austerlitz battle coming up? I am so excited, I had to change my pants!

Blitzkrieging before it was German or popular, Napoleon was.

Where do you guys play? The guns on the wall, etc is it a museum?
It's a private club space that we renovated and decorated as a group. So all the artwork, guns, etc are from various guys who game at the club.
