Oh Auntie, you’ve bought joyful tears to my old tired eyes! My children are grown and I have grandchildren and I always try to make all holidays and events memorable! I come from a childhood of tough times, and when on Christmas Eve, my father and older brother would go out into the back 40 to get a Christmas tree. Rudolf the red nose rain deer was on. The older children decorated it. It was the only day... Christmas Day...there was no harsh words, no violence directed at us, no cussing or abuse! I treasure that day above all others, not only because it is our dear Saviors birth, but for the above! Thank you for your generosity of spirit and inviting us into your beautiful home, truly beautiful! Memories always start at home, children always go back to the wonders and joys of Christmas! May our Lord smile down on you and yours.

I think the old simpler Christmas were just fine. That's all my parents had were a tree and a manger and we weren't poor, It's not all about stuff, it's about the birth of our Savior.

Absolutely beautiful!! And your narrative was so moving. I also grew up with very little little. There wasn’t much Christmas cheer in our home. But I have always loved Christmas. I struggled as a single Mom to make Christmas special for my 2 children. I believe we made special memories, even though times were tough. I’m 61 years old now and I decorate almost every available space in my home with things I love. It has truly been a difficult year for everyone. Hopefully the beauty of Christmas will bring some joy and peace to many ❤️🙏🏻

...Thank you for highlighting the reason we celebrate Christmas ....I’ve watched many home tours this year and only two or three had a Nativity .. ..I actually cried ....all the colorful decorations , Santa ,and the rest are beautiful , but , can never compare to the gift God gave us on that night long ago in a stable because there was no room in the inn.....GOD BLESS YOUR HOME AND FAMILY .

I sit here tearing up thinking of the excitement when I was a little girl and Daddy and Momma would get our decorations and tree out. My Daddy is no longer with us, but I am blessed to still have my Momma. I save Daddy a seat during the holidays, because I know he is with us every day. Thank you again for your beautiful words and home tour. Your voice is so calming.

I totally go around the stores in early December smelling the tinsel trying to evoke those memories and feelings when my parents brought out that Christmas decor box from the attic.... the best!!!

None of us know what the future holds but we trust in Him. I was like you growing up we didn't have much. My dad died when I was 4 it was just my mom my older sister and myself. We just had one bigger box that held all our decorations. A few strings of lights a few ornaments and just a few little things, mostly hand made, a small manger set and that was it. Still have the little manger set from my childhood and I'm 56 yrs old. Its one of my most treasured things. My mom has been gone over 15 years now so it holds special meaning. Thank you for all you do your home is lovely. May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Yes, we did the same! An old cardboard box, a small nativity from the drug store, some ornaments and an old tinsel garland! Blessing to you my friend. I know those tears well. Lost my mom at 20.

Hi Val it's me again I would like to ask you to Pray for my oldest daughter and oldest granddaughter as they have the Covid and they are really sick . They both work in different nursing homes and that is where they got it . Yes this year has been difficult but with God's help we will all get through it . I pray they are well for Christmas. So I thank you in advance for praying for them . God Bless you my Friend.

I always love when you do your home tours for the holidays. I love how beautiful your home is this year. It has been a very hard year for some people and the lack of space physically and mentally has been hard on a lot of children more so than us grown ups. I have teen/young adult children like you and having to adjust in a small home like you was an adjustment and the harsh reality that they will be out of the house soon, is why every moment in time is special.

You've done such a good job on displaying everything so well and making it look lovely and not cluttered.
Excellent Christmas interior! And I can totally relate to your memories of "the real Christmas aroma": old cardboard box with glass toys, carefully packed in layers of cottonwool and tinsel from previous years, with some dry pine or fir tree needles intassled in it. And all that mixed with an intense smell of a new, fresh fir, which has just arrived from the frosty outdooors and wating to be decorated. Add to it an aroma of mandarines, which were a special winter holidays treat, - and the right Christmas smell is ready! Being adult, i tried to recreate it for years with a modest success. Smelling is getting weaker, as time goes by, you know. Finally I have found fir-tree needle essential oil and mandarine essetial oil,- and they kind of do the trick :)
I was in a thrift store with my daughter and found the smell! Had to close my eyes for a minute and enjoy the memories!

Your home is so beautiful thanks for sharing. You are such an amazing story teller I could just listen to you all day. This is my 2nd Christmas without my Awesome Mom who died of cancer. I have been decorating and thinking of her non-stop since she loved Christmas so much. Growing up things were very tough but she always found a way to have a couple presents under the tree for me and my brother. We both cherish the holidays and the meaning of Christmas each yr. Family is everything to us and making memories. I have a 3 yr old grandson who loves to come over and help me decorate for Christmas but he calls it "Ho ho ho". Regarding the future, please know its all going to be great, things are going to work out in ways most cannot imagine. We have some bumpy roads ahead for a small bit of time, but God is in control and some most amazing days are ahead for us. We must stand in faith and not allow Fear to take control. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home & beautiful stories! As a kid, my parents stored all of our Christmas decorations/ornaments in an old cardboard box in the garage. Thank you for reminding me about the smell of old tinsel! That smell always told me it's Christmas! Again, your home & decorations are beautiful, but most importantly are the memories you are making for your kids. :-)

So very beautiful! That last song really touched my heart.. It was a song I sang in school n thing's n I was the only one who could hit that high note at the end.. Brought back so many memories.. Your children are so fortunate to have you.. I too remember my mother's box of decorations and it's smell.. My mom was huge on tinsel and we always got a ponderosa pine tree, n the branches went straight out with gaps between them and we had to put one strand of tinsel at a time starting from the trunk going out the branch..
