    Nice to hear some important issues being discussed.
    We are used to eating badly.
    It should be 1/3 food, 1/3 water and 1/3 empty.

    Great video. I do agree women have more fat content due to different body structure, however we should take care of our bodies and not let ourselves to become obese. I live in the Gulf and sadly I see some women here who just give up let go and don't care about their weight. End up having heart diseases and severe forms of diabetes (including kidney failure and other complications).

    Putting limitations. Very well said Sheikh Yusuf. I'm just going to shortly mention in a couple of phrases the results of more than a century of science. It's that plant based diet (fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds) are to be eaten every day regularly. Dairy products (milk, yoghurt, butter, cheese) and eggs need to be limited to a very small amount of your diet if not completely avoided.
    Red and processed meat should also be avoided. If I remember correctly fish and sea food has its benefits if eaten at a very small amount. Maybe a couple times a year. Sheep meat CAN be eaten once or twice a year if I remember correctly. Bird meat is less harmful.
    But overall good physicians just ask for the people to completely avoid dairy, eggs and meat in general. If eaten, then it must be extremely limited. Especially regarding meat.

    • @hamzafarah3427
      @hamzafarah3427 8 лет назад +3

      I completely agree, mostly plant based diet is for the environment as well. The leading cause of global warming isn't the oil and gas sector. It's ironically our livestock and animal agriculture industry that is by far the biggest reason global warming is such a dangerous issue. So there are Islamic and rational reasons as to why we should all cut back on this last abundance of meat in our homes and stomachs. (For anyone who would like to learn more, Google 'Animal agriculture' or that documentary called 'Cowspiracy' )

    • @hebince44
      @hebince44 8 лет назад +1

      Hamza Farah Yes that is a leading cause.
      Transport sector is minor, but another leading cause are the corporation's emissions.
      In the future it seems fracking leaks are to be another major contributor. But here is something we can actually do something about in our lives: food choice and health quality that will also impact our planet.

    • @hebince44
      @hebince44 8 лет назад

      Hadi Ooi Yes technically speaking milk contains B12 for the brain and other factors like muscle 'food' (whey and casein). But it should be limited to perhaps 2 cups a day.
      Eggs to max 3 per week and meat to max once per month. I've looked up eating patterns of elders and this is the way they ate to keep their crops and lands sustainable.
      Starch like breads and rice, vegetables, olives and nuts and fruits were not a problem. They could eat them daily. And if this is how our ancestors ate, then our genetics are programmed for this as well. The medical data also confirms this.

      "Good physicians?" What is a "good physician?" Most physicians have taken exactly 0 classes on nutrition.
      Talk to a dietitian, they have studied nutrition, have a degree, and a certification.

    what does a type 1 diabetic do during Ramadan, I understand that muslims they fast, but what if you have to take your insulin or eat something if your blood sugar drops during those hours of sunrise and sunset? I'm curious, this guy just talked about type 2.

      plumeria66 Whether it is a male or a female, I agree that we have to keep a healthy weight. In the Gulf Countries the rates of diabetes and obesity especially in females are at epidemic proportions. Yes women naturally have different body compositions than men, but really I don't think they should weigh 200 pounds. Unfortunately there is alot of that here (and globally). Obesity is not good for anyone.

    I disagree with Humza Yusuf with putting an emphasis on exercise. The route cause for diabetes and obesity is the high carb low fat diet to reverse diabetes or obesity is simply consume a diet low in carb and high fat.

    • @alexandrac9536

      our bodies are made for movement. we used to move more and work hard, now that life has changed we need to make exercise a part of our daily routine. processed refined carbs, meat and dairy are the harmful foods and are directly linked to diabetes. high carbs from fruit veg and grain is the diet humans thrive on

    • @hebince44
      @hebince44 9 лет назад +3

      Carbs are good for exercise and movement and activity in general. I CANNOT study all day long for exams if I don't have my carbs every two or three hours! Fat on the other hand is detrimental. It should be avoided as much as possible. That's if you eat animal fat for example every day, you're much much less productive. It slows your digestive system down and your body and mind and soul too.
      Just wanted to get that straight.

      Munim Azad he also criticized people eating desserts everyday.
      but if you are not walking on a regular basis and just sitting down on the couch it will take a toll on your body.

      My brother in law has diabetes
      Ever since he started walking 10000 steps as mentioned on the video his blood sugar is stable and no longer requires his medication

      You have to combine both healthy meal plan and physical activity. Both are equally important.
