Basically it’s not adblock, but ads in general. There used to be some ads like at the side of a website or in between text segments, and that was fine. But now we are at the point where many websites are basically unusable without an adblocker, because there is an unclosable ad popping up and filling your entire screen every five seconds. What’s the point with this anyway? Do companies think I will buy their product if they already piss me off before I even know what the ad is about?
I've actively made it my goal to avoid buying from those who advertise to me and give it to competitors or off brand. Turns out with how often those who advert the loudest scam or do shady stuff... you might actually be protecting yourself using adverts as a guide on what not to buy.
We had an amazing lake near our city, it was deep in the forest and not much people knew about it, it was inside a quarry, and it was so beautiful. Stone slopes of all different colours, you could find geodes and pieces of fossils in the stone (I kinda do it for a hobby and that was by far the most fossil-filled place I ever went to) and the water was crystal clear, it was surreal, there was this patch of shallow water close to shore and then it just sloped down, there were tons of fish there and amazing to dive in. And then, I decided to look for it because we haven't visited it the entire winter, and there was a shitton of people, you had to buy tickets to go there, the queue was ridiculously long, everyone sold grossly overpriced drinks and hotdogs and the water was dirty and polluted and nothing lived in it. You couldn't even search for fossils or anything otherwise you would have to pay a (I think) 1000$ fee. I cried like a little bitch because it was by far my favorite place in my entire life and it was ruined like this.
Thats really screwed up a lot of places like that in my opinion should have a few patrols (to keep littering/pollution down) but it shouldn’t be capitalized on
The not paying storage thing seems to be quite common. I wonder why parents would do this to their own children? Some of those things could have value to them too

I feel extremely guilty whenever I hear the littering ones. One time I went on a school field trip with a bunch of classmates to this extremely rare maritime forest. All of the adults made a big deal not to litter. We were on a bridge with a 5 foot drop to a hill that sinks on both sides of the bridge. my stupid ass puts my Gatorade bottle on the ledge and it falls of the bridge and slides all the way down the hill. Thank god nobody noticed. Sadly, I couldn't recover it.

Chick-Fil-A (at least from someone who lived in the Northeast U.S., now the Midwest). It was a solid, niche fast-food place that was a step above typical fast food. It seemed around 2015-2016, it became a trendy, "Instagramable" place where people had no issues waiting, at minimum, thirty minutes for food. One time, I was driving down a *poorly designed* highway and thought, "Why is the traffic backed up for half a mile just in this lane?".... It was the Chick-Fil-A drive-through line. I feel like Culver's is going down that path as they expand.
Culvers was extremely popular here when it first opened... but seems the big crowds have shrunk, so maybe there's hope. In N Our Burger is another that comes to mind.
Ebay - It used to be a nice place to sell old stuff and crafts. Now it's a dumping ground for cheap, mass-produced crap, a small seller is lucky to get 5 views on their auctions, and fraud is easy; just claim the item you bought was damaged or didn't arrive. Rural living. God forbid the area you live in becomes "hot" on the real estate market. Developers will flood in and turn useful farmland into chintzy pressboard housing, and rich people will move out there and complain about the smell, because apparently they weren't aware that cow farms stink to high heaven.
So many abandoned buildings and other urbex areas because people are dumb and not subtle and light fires in caves or go to buildings at night causing a death sentence on both of those. Fruen Mill has had many fallen to their death because they don’t realize the openings (meant to be there) in the floors can go all the way to the basement (6 floors). Then there’s people lighting bonfires and other large fires in caves causing themselves to suffocate with the lack of oxygen, tunnel of terror has 3 story buildings that have been burned and some destroyed but at a cost more than half the time. Also storm drains and not understanding at the ends of those and sometimes halfway through the floor will open up with these pools or drop down tunnels and try and step in not realizing it will suck you down once you’ve fallen in. The minnehaha storm drain, know someone who knows someone directly you died there due to stepping into one of these pools at the end of a off shoot hall (all dead ends) of the singular multi mile long drain (also dead end just has beautiful art). Once he stepped in that drain sucked hun down into an offshoot drain and then into the Mississippi River, where his body was taken many states south before finally being found. It was during spring so quite a bit wetter for the area. If you’re not sure don’t do it and don’t go alone. Know your sources and be cautious always. If you’re careful you can have one hell of a time. All these places are in the same relative area so google and you’ll figure it out if your really that interested.

As cringe as it can sound ROBLOX was so much better when the focus was on good content instead of money. So many amazing games have been pushed away and died or forced to add microtransactions because microwave 2 day old pizza simulator is trending. As more players (especially young children) have joined the platform and more devs and big corporations looking to make money have started developing the site has gone downhill. Roller skating rinks is one of mine, now it has a big place in the Middle where you sit and do nothing and you can only skate on the outer part of it it's not a ring it's a ring with a circular obstacle in the middle of the damn thing where you can't do spins and jumps and other roller skating moves that were awesome back in my day.

I'm not far in but the initial complaints for airbnb don't even mention the fact that it absolutely fucks the housing market for renters especially in cities with tourism. If it were just a few people it'd be fine but because everyone is doing it there's nowhere to live and all the town employees have to move to other cities and commute. Unless you've got a strong moral inclination to use your property for the good of your local community why would you take on long term tenants for a couple grand a month when you can make that kind of money every week or every other week without having to worry about the responsibilities and legal protection involved with a tenant? I wish I could still live in my hometown. I still work there...
What I find stupid is if someone doesn't pay for their storage locker that shouldn't forfeit their stuff thats in their, if anything you should just unlock it and leave it open and tell them to get their shit before it gets taken. Especially for reasons like that one story in this where the items inside don't even belong to the people responsible for paying for it

We did a bunch of trips around the southwestern US during covid to places we’ve been to before. For us, there was no one there but this was the during the summer of 2020 right after is started. Seeing only people who care for nature and not seeing any tourons was a beautiful thing. Now everyone and their mothers is an influencer / hiker / photographer and ruin everything. Don’t bother with the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, or anything else out there. Longer videos aren't (just) for more ads. The algorithim used to favor "views", and since views count after 30 seconds, a view on a 30 second video was a s good ad a view on a 10 minute video. Now, the algorithim favors "watchtime". Views don't mean squat anymore, the total time spend watching the video is what counts. So watching a 10 minute video once is equal to watching a 30 second video 20 times. Good luck getting viewers to watch your 30 second video 20 times. Hence, longer videos are indirectly favored by watchtime.

We did a bunch of trips around the southwestern US during covid to places we’ve been to before. For us, there was no one there but this was the during the summer of 2020 right after is started. Seeing only people who care for nature and not seeing any tourons was a beautiful thing. Now everyone and their mothers is an influencer / hiker / photographer and ruin everything. Don’t bother with the Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, or anything else out there. It’s all gone to shit from people looking for 5 seconds of internet clout of stuff people have been doing quietly for years.

The algorithim used to favor "views", and since views count after 30 seconds, a view on a 30 second video was a s good ad a view on a 10 minute video.
Now, the algorithim favors "watchtime". Views don't mean squat anymore, the total time spend watching the video is what counts. So watching a 10 minute video once is equal to watching a 30 second video 20 times.
Good luck getting viewers to watch your 30 second video 20 times.
Hence, longer videos are indirectly favored by watchtime.
