The thing that I find funny about all of this internet outrage the past few days is that out of a nearly 2 hour interview, there were MAYBE 10 minutes spent talking about these incidents at AEW. For the most part, Punk was very positive towards this time there, said that he likes people that work there, and he reiterated those points several times, but I guess that doesn't make good clickbait headlines, so all of these so-called journalists and AEW fanboys are focusing on the small soundbite-ish negative comments that they can get fired up about and ignoring the rest.

One of the many odd things about this situation is TK cares what the fans think but didn’t hesitate to say he feared for his life. Let’s be honest it was get out of the punk deal but knowing the actual situation would get out he did care he’d look like a pussy ?

I think we can agree, we all want to AEW successful. At the same time, we see the simple mistakes that Tony lets happen, time after time. The criticism should be viewed optimism. Tony should made he Bucks and Punk sit down and resolve some things.
Ariel went to college for Public Communications and has a long history in sports journalism, and it shows. He does what most "journalists" in this space don't.

AEW is doing bad because there are no stories or proper angles that fans are really invested in. They have their base audience who will tune in no matter what but there's no real growth or substance behind what they're doing. They are just bringing guys and girls in paying them a fortune but then there not in any significant angle or storyline that's bringing in more viewers.
Honestly, nobody has done more damage to the company than Dave Meltzer (and the Elite). He’s the one who reported this whisper campaign against Punk, he’s the one advocating for this workrate-only crap that doesn’t work.
He’s as much of a clown as Tony. If AEW focused on giving us some compelling characters and storylines to mix in with their workrate, they’d be successful. But so far the only people they’ve made me care about from their original roster are MJF and Britt Baker. That’s why they always need to import new free agents, because they suck at making their own stars.

I’m sick of AEW unnamed sources. Just recently another unmanned source double down to the observer that CM punk tried to get Cabana fired. It’s always these unnamed sources that want to put down punk to the observer
Meltzer and bryan on there show saying shit like 'punk is going after these guys' in the interview etc when all punk did was answer the questions ariel asked him and gave his side of events and why shit didnt work out. But in saying that weren't these guys going after punk for months when they we're feeding dave and bryan shit about punk with the whole cabana situation... Dave and Bryan were very happy to run with that stuff though. Im not saying you gotta agree with everything punk says but these guys spin narratives that make one side look alot more favourable.

The thing is though - Arial never once questioned Punk's description of his own behaviour ("I just choked him a little" - my follow up would be 'really? Did you actually think that was being at all professional, or were you actively trying to get fired') - there were a lot of instances of this, where I'm listening thinking do you not have ANYTHING to say about that?
This was more like a chat between friends - which is fine. But hardly a great interview. No cross-examination or contradiction - he just let him say his stuff. Which again, is cool - but let's call it what it is

So I’m guessing Ariel was surprised he was getting the answers he was getting? I don’t know. Again, all I can do is guess at best. But I definitely see your side of not following up on a couple of cross examination type questions.
Yeah I agree it wasn't professional to grab the guy in a chokehold or whatever he did and he did. But the situation escalated to a point where it shouldn't off and punk on numerous occasions told tony to handle it and step in so he didn't have to. The guy squared up to him like he wanted the smoke so he got it but then you can't cry about it after.
