Very helpful ,as far as pre-fuel injection goes KTM's 525 lineup is notorious for hesitation right off the throttle. same happened to my dads 525 xc after sitting. As we learned the hard way, a little preventive maintenance such as draining the bowl will go a long way...
that thing sounds sweet. been contemplating trading my 08 300xcw for one just like that but I love my 300 so much in kinda torn. thanks for all your videos brother keep up the good work
One thing I kinda regret doing on my old 525 exc was the accelerator pump mod. It works great for riding supermoto setup. However, on trails, it was too much snap. I looped the bike a few times. I never did remove it when I sold it. I will be first to admit its a lot of bike on singletrack, or technical trails. Perfect for flowing double and fire roads.
The running issues with the bike at the start of the video can be caused by the accelerator pump port hole becoming blocked... i noticed you didn't show in the video. Has the bike always run like that since new .. doubtful 🤷♂️ All said she's definitely as good as new now . Love's me a 525✊😁👍
Thinking about trying this. I just grabbed a 2004 KTM 450 EXC and when the choke/enricher is pulled the throttle goes really high and pops like crazy and when pushed in it won't idle for nothing. Something must be clogged somewhere but not sure where because I pulled it apart yesterday and cleaned all the jets with carb spray and compressed air, found the fuel line from the tank as well had a small hole and the inside of the hose was like a melted gummy bear. Any suggestions?
Only problem I see with that bike is that tractor headlight! Good little video as always. And I'm loving the new intro. I do video production for a living and you've inspired me to step up my RUclips channel production with a nice intro like that. The geek side of me wants to know what camera that was shot with? Just curious
hahah, thats exactly what I told Dallas, but then he turned it on during night time I I was shocked how bright it was.. ugly light is super bright! ;) Intro was shot on Sony camera, same as RMZ450 build reveal, same guys as well. My friend Brian helped me out. Glad you like it! I can share more info if you want, email me at dirtniton7@gmail.com or DM on instagram
I’m curious where did your buddy get the light and mounting bracket for the 525?? I really like that vintage look with all black plastics that would look pretty cool..
Can’t wait for my jets, my WR450F supermotard does the same thing, already have the fuel screw in the mail. Hopefully I can drive it decently next week.
@@dirtniron I know I will, thank you for the instruction video's and the information about these bikes, I already learned a lot about WR450's before I even bought the bike haha.
Good morning just wondering what clip setting did you end up with? I have the same bike same altitude with an aftermarket exhaust but don’t know which way to go with it.
My 525exc runs incredible. Only issue is fuel screw is at 4 turns. Even with bigger pilot its still 4 turns. I might have that dreaded header leak? Idk but ill leave it for now. It pulls and idles good 🤷♂️
Just installed the JD Jet kit and it really didn't do much. The carb has been cleaned by soaking it in carb dip and rebuilt and still won't run right. Constantly popping, dies every time it's idling.. at this point I give up and it's going to find a new home and I will buy a new fuel injected model and not fool around with old tech.
Im looking at getting a JD jetting kit for my KTM 250 EXCF while the kit is great for altitude it doesn't give any info when comes to having an aftermarket system, I'm guessing I find what suits my altitude and make it slightly richer, what would you recommend?
Why did you not adjust the timing on the carb? If the fuel is not spraying at the right time that can cause a lot of issues. Seems like you skipped this step or did I miss something?

thanks for sharing Lucas!
The panting dog in the background is a nice touch. Makes it feel real and not sterile like some of the other channels.

JD Jetting, air/fuel screw and accelerator pump mod are must haves on KTM 450/525. I loved my 525 after the mod.
exactly! thanks for sharing Mike!
For an 04 4t0 exc ..think its a good idea or ...just got one .bome stock wirh very very little hours n miles..any manuals avail or advice
Read my reply to D&I
Is it more aggressive than the 450

yea, its a perfect desert bike, high speed flowing is the best!
@@dirtniron is it good in the 8th of a mile
What mod did you do? Was it the quickshot?
Which mod was it? The o-ring? or the diaphragm cap?
It runs nicely, it only has 1 issue: IT'S A 4 STROKES. xD
haha, yea.. it feels different. runs great tho
Whats wrong with that? Imagine if it had a turbo for better top end
My 02 ktm400 is doing the exact same thing - thanks for the video
jd kit should fix it, its really good stuff..
Mine as well I just ordered the kit! Fingers crossed

thanks for sharing, the bike was just too lean.. we cleaned it as well.. not on the video
Looks like Pinnacles/Cleghorn. I just rode there yesterday on the same bike (2006 525XC-G) with the JD kit. Love this bike, runs great with the kit!
I am not familiar with that place

Great kits! Makes a huge difference on 300 two stroke too.
Is that one of those super-bright headlights? Looks kinda retro-cool!
yes, its really bright but super ugly :)

4 is little too much, did you try two sizes bigger pilot?
Ill try that when it warms up. I dont want to go too much bigger thats the weird thing it already has 2-3 sizes up from stock on the pilot.

yes, I would say you would need to go richer.. usually working with the needles does the trick

The oring mod is dodgy AF compared to my adjustable screw set up on the tab already there for it.

Hey Rado whats the story on Dallas's Husky build I'm sure he's itching to get that back on the trail
you bet, we are working on it, videos coming soon!

no, its not homemade.. its some kind of high output desert light.. super bright and super ugly ;)

Hey i have an fcr39 on my sxf250 and it pops on deceleration. What it might be?
lean mixture, could be dirty pilot or small pilot. maybe you just need to adjust fuel screw, I have video explaining it.. check it out
Did you watch the video.....
Did you fix the popping?
@@nicholashaag6184 No its a gap in carburetor. U can fix it by getting bigger pilot jet
