      I really want to get VFD for motor because I want to make Belt grinder machine soon if possible but cost very expensive

      My belt grinder is without vfd. You need diffetent cutting speeds for different materials?

    Nice video.. very useful info
    Two questions:
    For the encoder you only use one Phase and leave the other phase not connected.. is it enough?
    The other question:
    What is the need for the USB cable between the board and the PC if you already use parallel port for communication between PC and breakout board?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  2 года назад +2

      thanks!
      1. only one phase is enough if you use only one direction of spindle rotation - two phases are needed for quadrature signals and detecting the direction of rotation.
      2. usb cable is probably only for delivering 5V to the board - it isn't used to send any informations

    Hola Master!!!!. Muy buen material haces. Muy agradecido!!!!. Y comparto el tereré y mate al igual que vos. Una consulta respecto al (modulo power supply y el trafo toroidal). ¿Se lo compraste a Adam Maszynotwór o lo hiciste?. ¿Si podes dar mas info?. Gracias

      ¡Hola! ¡Gracias! El módulo de potencia se compró de segunda mano, pero se pueden comprar módulos similares en Polonia en ebmia.pl (Adam también es de Polonia). El módulo de potencia es mz-01 y transformador TR120 230/ 25.5V.

    Thanks for the overview ^^ are you going to do an overview on your Linux CNC config
    and is there a specific reasoning why didn't you use a switching power supply ?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  2 года назад

      There is a video on my channel named "How To Setup LinuxCNC on a Lathe" - this should give you an idea of how I set up my config. About the reasoning of choosing this power supply instead of switching power supply - I just had it lying around from another project. People say a traditional transformer is a more stable power source but actually I made a machine using a switching power supply and it works just fine too.
      thanks for watching! 😁

    Hola amigo disculpa habrá alguna configuración con el software mach3?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  Год назад +1

      ¡Hola! Para ser honesto, no planeé hacer un video sobre la configuración mach3 de mi torno CNC ya que cambié a LinuxCNC y me siento bastante cómodo con él. Ahora en mi nueva máquina uso UCCNC. Tal vez en el futuro haga un video que muestre cómo configurar mach3 en un torno, pero en realidad es casi lo mismo que configurar una fresadora.

    what is the PPR of your encoder?
    Is the parallel port capable of receiving frequencies from a 1000 ppr encoder?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  9 месяцев назад

      i'm not sure but I think it was 200ppr if I remember correctly. With 200ppr it can handle up to about 500RPM on the spindle with my laptop parallel port (when I have more rpm it is not able to count so fast). Maybe on a desktop PC it could reach more. But I wouldn't go for a 1000ppr - thats definitely too much pulses in my opinion unless you have a really slow spindle

    Can this method also be applied to Mach3 lathe, I'm from Indonesia?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  Год назад

      No sir. Mach3 doesn't support A/B encoder. Just index signals.

  • @aaronshed
    @aaronshed 2 года назад

    Any reason why you didn't go with a switched power supply?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  2 года назад

      Yes. I had this kit as a leftover from other project 😅😅 I mean - a transformer is a more stable power supply but I made already a machine based on switching power supplies and it worked fine as well (it was even better for higher feed speeds as the voltage was higher which led to more rpm on the stepper motor).

    Why are you use on spindle proximity switch/sensor and spindle rotary encoder?

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  Год назад

      Because there is a pulley 2:1 between the spindle and encoder and I would get 2 index signals per rotation instead of 1. So the sensor is sending one signal per rotation

    • @Doctor_88
      @Doctor_88 Год назад

      @@GBWM_CNC ok,but why you use bouth sensors in the same time on spindle

    • @GBWM_CNC
      @GBWM_CNC  Год назад

      @@Doctor_88 By both sensors you mean the proximity sensor and the encoder? The lathe is getting the A signal (200 pulses per rotation) from the encoder and Z signal from the proximity sensor (1 pulse per rotation). The index signal - 1 pulse per rotation is used to start threading every time in the same moment and the 200 pulses per second signal is to make the lathe know exactly how rotated the spindle actually is.

    • @Doctor_88
      @Doctor_88 Год назад

      @@GBWM_CNC you mean the index sensor is like home swich on spindle? And enconder is to mesurment spindle rpm?
