Been playing this series since the original PS2 launch, and I thought that Kiryu will be a dime-a-dozen type gangster who just has no feelings except for rage, but the series over time has really made Kiryu deep. Add on top of that, the knockout performance of Takaya Kuroda, and we have a perfect character.
The intent of the first Yakuza game was to satirize the gangster media that's usually made in Japan. There's definitely some subtler jokes in the older games more than actual deep emotive storytelling. That probably didn't start til Yakuza 3 and didn't peak until 0. They've transformed Kiryu so much through the years.. Sometimes it's sad to see that he's still trucking through lol

Kiryu does have cancer but by the end of the game they find out it’s not terminal and is treatable, after the journey with ichiban, Kiryu has learned to see life differently and since his identity is already exposed he returns to the orphanage to live with his family and finally rests. Or he still remains at a distance from them but still remains vigilant whilst recovering. Ultimate copium is he decides life is too short and marries Kaoru.

It really feels like your about to loose someone very close to you , Im gonna miss our beloved Ojisan and what hurts more is in my personal life there is someone close to me going through this and he is living his life accepting his fate .
If u observe Kiryu's hair in the cutscene, ull see that after the millenium tower mugshot in the trailer, where he wears his dragon of dojima hair, he has the same hair on the hospital scene. maybe that happens after final boss? im betting kiryu took one for ichiban and then got sent to the hospital js like y6
Kiryu won't die here. But him taking down the Daidoji as his final big moment before death will be really cool to see. Ending his story completely. That's probably his final loose end to tie up completely as it seems his sacrefice inspired that agent system..
Honestly if they do decide to fell Kiryu this time i hope its for good and don't cop out like with some previous "dead" characters. I love Kiryu but his story ended already and Kasuga is already a fine character to carry the series.

yeah nah he wont die, you'll need to do all the sub stories for 100% completion and he is probably in some of them, if he dies at the end then those sub stories wont be available, sega has never made a game unable for 100% if you beat the game
