Thrift Savings Plan. Or a Roth IRA or a traditional IRA. I’ve been saving half of every raise since 2001. US Army 1990-99, USAF 2010-2023. School bus driver now.
Man, I thought for a bit that the DoD had just shut you down wholesale or something else happened.. The whole 'shootin match' just disappeared and I was wondering 'WTF happened?!?". Glad to see you made it back after the 'hacking' happened!
Long gone are the days where soldier served to do good for god and country. Economy has spiked and can’t expect good soldiers that want to continue to serve with minimum payment in military ranks. As a NG soldier, I’ve personally seen too many sm’s ETS due to losing money to show up TDY. At the end of the day, ppl have bills and compromises with debt and civilian jobs paying higher than ever with inflation
Soldiers are the real heroes of this country even police and firefighters. They get paid dogshit but are expected to apply in droves. Not how it works. I’m enlisted and it’s an honor to serve my country but we still need to survive too, slap in the face when basketball players get paid 1000x more than what the real heroes get thrown.
I think the pay needs to go up for all enlisted and not just the juniors. Close the gap from enlisted to officer pay. Like an E1 to an O1 with same TIS shouldn’t be a $2k difference
I sometimes wonder when the topic of "pay rises" will be superseded by the topic of "devaluation of the currency"... but that may be too much of a politically contentious matter to discuss on platforms like RUclips...
The Senate Armed Service Committee does NOT get "a 50% vote on what goes into the NDAA". Each chamber has a committee which votes on a bill to be submitted to the entire chamber (House or Senate). The respective bills are then amended or not amended and, eventually, may then be voted upon by the entire chamber. The House passes its bill and the Senate passes its bill. They must be identical before a final bill goes the the president for signature. If the bills are not identical, they go to a conference committee, comprised of members from both the Senate and the House. Their task is to to work out the differences between the two bills so that they can be amended or re-introduced as identical bills in both chambers. Then the Senate and House each pass their "revised" bill. This time, it is identical to the other chamber. When the bill passes both the Senate and the House, it can finally go the the president for signature.
I've been in 11 years and never did it for the money. But now we have dudes that can't meet the standard and will make, in a year, what it took me more than 5 years and a deployment to make???
I hope you are nobody supervisor because that is just bitter thinking. Time has changed, and roles are shifting. Let the junior enlisted get a better pay raise.
@gamingu2m301 I am supporting a family of 5 on a single income. All I'm saying is the monetary incentives for juniors hasn't worked and won't work for retention all while still screwing the dudes who have been in for a decade. And you're pumping a large raise into a demographic that has seen the highest chapter rates in decades. And the vast majority of them have no bills, no responsibilities and get their food and housing payed for already. This is a really good way to keep ostricizing the ones who have dedicated their lives to the army despite the way they have been treated. And encouraging short time enlistment for the wrong reasons. I'm all for a raise. The military in general hasn't even matched the inflation rate. But I think too large of a raise on the front end is bad practice. It should be scaled across the whole force. Not dumped on the short timers, incetivising short time Enlistment, focused on the demographic that has the most legal and disciplinary issues and screwing the ones that have to deal with it... that's all I'm saying.
I recently purchased your 12 week Hybrid program, but I had a question and wondering if you can elaborate on it. I been loving it so far. I sent you DM on IG about it. It’s referring the sets and reps. I would ask you here in the comment section but I don’t want to be rude and exploit your workout for those who havnt paid unless you don’t mind. Thank you!
PLEASE look into the ACFT nonsense...because it really is nonsense at this point. The fact we're all back to butt clenching at it possibly just going right back to the APFT is literal madness 🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃
There is an old saying if you want to make big money you don't stay in the military. It's been like that over 200 years. But of course the military members should always get a good raise. I was old school back in the day i joined to serve my country not for pay and we didn't have good benefits in the 80's compared to now.I guess that's why back in my time majority of troop service ended after first enlistment.
Especially since they will make you get out before hitting that 20 years. Happened to a 1sr sgt I knew.. he was sad but he said it happens to a lot of people about to hit 20 years
So now we are look at $100 pay increase per month if you end up making rank. So if they are into retention what is the incentive to stay in an additional 100 to not hit HYT? Whats the point of Any/All E-6 and above(enlisted) personnel staying in . They also say it was people complaining about it for the last few years....if thats the case wouldnt those people who complained be e5/e6/e7(if they are shit hot). Most people also dont talk about the entitlements when it comes to military pay. There is alot about military pay that is not taxed but some people are ignorant to even look at the W2 given to them. Comparing civilian and military pay is apples and oranges. Military you bas and bah if you live in town(there are exceptions) thats not taxed at the end of the year. Yes most military members are in poverty in terms of tax bracket however they have food/housing 90% covered for.
You have to remember that the E-6 and up crowd is probably going to do the full 20 and get paychecks from the military for the rest of their life. That is probably one of the greatest benefits the military provides. Most junior enlisted will just do one contract and leave.
@@Paydenclarify I would think so, considering the reason E-5s are getting the raise so they don't get paid less than E-4s. If E-6s don't get a pay increase, an E-5 could (potentially) be paid the same as them or more. Guarantee you that'd cause an uproar of some kind. *Edited for a spelling error

A Walmart greeter earning the same as a soldier is wild. And they wonder why enlistment and retention is low.
Walmart greeters don’t get BAH or free healthcare, but I agree that soldiers should generally be paid more, enlisted especially.
@@Daily_Bassistyou only get bah if your married or a high enough rank to get out the barracks.
@@Big_Braincell Yeah but Walmart greeters never get that regardless. Source: Worked at Walmart.
As far as I see it Walmart greeters spend most of their salary tryna cover benefits that troops don't have to pay for
Does Walmart greeters have VA loan to buy house with no down money? I think not
Just remember boys when it comes to money, the army is quick to take it, ant slow to give it.
Yeah I hope no one’s actually expecting this shit to go through
If approved put half of it into your TSP.
Or invest with an insurance agent for a life insurance policy plan if you plan on less than 20’years of service.
