When I watched this with my brother at home on video in 1985 I asked him to push the stop button after the old dude smashed his guitar. We laughed so hard and repeated this procedure until, after maybe 2.5h we finally finished the movie. Even now, at the age of 49&50 we can still quote the best scenes at appropriate occasions.
When i first saw this movie back in the late '80s with my buddy we were rolling on the floor laughing our asses off!!! Don't know how many times we rewind back to watch this scene over and over and over again!!!
Back In 1992, because I looked like val at that time, a guy at my GF's christmas party dared me to dance on the tables while singing just the chorus of tuti fruti, I rocked the party that night, but no iPhones or RUclips back then so still pictures is all that is left of that night.
RIP Rhythm and blues you mean. What a shame had done white american people to music. And these types of movies made to brainwash a whole generation, making them believe that rock and roll exists.
As a heterosexual man, I can say that I'm SHOCKED to find how attractive I find Val Kilmer here-his looks are obvious, but it's his dancing here that's TRULY attractive. If I had HALF the moves and a tenth of the looks . . . I'd be much, MUCH happier in life. Christ.
THIS song scene also INSPIRED M.J. Fox to perform on stage while performing Chuck Berry songs. notice BUddy Rich playing drums. saw him in OakBrook at age 8.
I first watched this when I was 12 back in the 1990's. I think I've only ever seen it once or twice since then about 20 years ago on tv. I came across this because of how sick Val Kilmer got then I remembered his movie and Top Gun.

one of the top 5 funniest films of all time IMO.
It can't be top 5 until you name the other 4.
@@ANANDMOHAN-lo6ds I write the other 4: The Naked Gun Trilogy and Airplane!
The Zuckers were great
As you say😁
The old guy smashing the guitar gets me every time.

I forgot about that lol.
He does it better than Pete Townsend or at least, much funnier.
I'd wright the same ...!!!
i like how he came prepped with his own sheet music ;p
ultrakool Guess he felt that the orchestra wouldn't know the song.
He was afraid something like that might happen :)
ultrakool the manager asks him if he got the new sheets when they meet at the entrance
I love how those old dudes catch their stride after a slow start
Who are they? I can't seem to find them in the credits.
I own this DVD luckily. And I'm a huge Nick Rivers fan.
Best movie
This is the best one from Val Kilmer so classy and fits his true self give it a perfect 10....
He did all the songs as Jim morrison too
I did this scene thousands of times in the garden when I was a kid. The tilting chair was the bomb.
I remember seeing this in a theatre and cracking up for days afterward. LOL!

I think Val Kilmer does Elvis better than Austin Butler.
He does Elvis better than Elvis tbh
He played Elvis is True Romance.
He did do Elvis and very well too!!!
Austin sucks.
This makes me dance no matter how many times I watch it.
The best movie ever!!!

O velho no fim quebrando a guitarra! KKKKKKKKKKKKK!
Did Val Kilmer actually sing the song in this movie?
Yep, songS (plural)
He also played Jim Morrison in The Doors movie!
Saw this movie in the cinema in Aarhus, Denmark. When the guitar player smashed his guitar the cinema exploded.
I've just watched the movie on TV. I've seen it many times!
I bet they had a lot of fun doing this movie. Who played the band members? They're uncredited. Were they really playing?
How are you not including Airplane! in this ranking?
The band caught up pretty fast there.
0:48 Plácido Domingoff in Spanish version.
I learned this song from Top Secret before I heard of Little Richard or Elvis. LOL.
HAHAHAH that guy that's slapping with his guitar ! 3:03
This would be perfect for a wedding
Quién está viendo esto a las puertas del verano de 2021?
Who else is watching this at the gates of Summer 2021?
Dumb kid that I was in the 1980's I did not know this song until I heard it in this film. I certainly thought it was great.
Man Kilmer got some moves !

Groovy!
"Rocketman" brought me here! No, I'm serious! There's a scene in Rocketman that looks like it was shot in the very same restaurant/set.
Val Kilmer as young and handsome... And to think that he'll never sing or even speak again...
Aca Val Kilmer se transformo en argentino :D
Starts at 1:08
Nick Rivers desafía a la física.
