Banana Rama But it doesn’t replace subspace or trophies well. It only really replaces events and even then many matches don’t feel clever when almost all of the event matches did
@Anime Guy The boss battles are mediocre. The music and backgrounds you can enjoy without even needing to play the game, so not much of an upside to this sorry excuse for a gamemode.
The whole problem is that the battles are supposed to be interesting and represent different characters but 90% of the time you have Spirits on that negate those effects. It’s boring.
WoL felt more like a checklist rather than an experience. Subspace Emissary from Brawl showed more dedication and effort because the cutscenes enhanced it with character interactions. Like seeing Fox with his arwing in action. Mario vs Link over a misinterpretation, etc.
And seeing Lucario sense the auras in the hallway and seeing that Snake's aura is actually lighter than Meta Knight's, cause Snake is more of a hero than he thinks of himself as. Or how about the Pokemon Trainer helping Lucas grow into his role as a fighter and helping him not be afraid of anyone anymore. Or just Samus rescuing a tortured Pikachu from a generator. Really awesome character interactions in that mode. That's what made the mode so special and what made WOL feel empty and devoid of any character.
@@LegendOfSolidus The Pokemon Trainer and Lucas parts were my favorite because the longer they traveled, the more you could see them grow with the help of each other. Hell, in the part where it looks like they are gonna face certain death and pokemon trainer's passed out, Lucas is able to think quickly and get them out of there. We all know that Lucas at the start of the story wouldn't have been able to do that due to his anxiety/timidness. Though I would've loved to have seen an ending cutscene of him and Ness being reunited because getting his friend back was Lucas main motivation.
@Umerithiel We are aware of that, I suppose we all just hoped for more. I still like looking back at the Subspace cutscenes now and then. Give me the feels. They were well done in my opinion
That's not the problem. The problem is that the fights are either too easy and require no skill whatsoever, and sometimes not even spirits, or too difficult even with spirits. Some fights are completely 100% luck based and are impossible to win if you do not glitch the match or the opponent SDs or you simply get a very lucky hit. There is no actual good way of strategizing with spirits, because they are irrelevant when the fight is too easy, and they are also irrelevant when the fight is infuriatingly hard. Take for example the notorious Pauline fight. There is no spirit that actually helps you to win this. Yes, someone did post a video doing it with the staff, but this was not in hard mode, and also, it was lucky. Hitting the AI with the staff still requires luck since the AI literally spot dodges it. I know, because I tried. So, that fight is complete bullshit, because it doesn't involve skill, and it also doesn't make good use of the spirit counter pick mechanic. And while this definitely the most infamous one, it's definitely not the only one with the problem. The only fights that are difficult but fair are the boss fights. And the boss fights are supposed to be harder... how does that make any sense?
The Precious Little White Angel Well, Ultimate has Classic Mode and All Star Mode. Those are great game modes. But it doesn't compensate for World of Light, because both game modes were already anticipated regardless of Word of Light existing, and because they are staples of the Smash series since Melee. So it doesn't actually matter that these modes are good because we already knew they were going to be good. The problem here is that Nintendo advertised World of Light as yet another game mode that is another extra option, but it failed to deliver. It's an extra game mode that should deliver the same level of engagement as classic mode while providing something unique and different... yet it doesn't. It fails on both aspects.
The Precious Little White Angel Also, I am not sure how your Melee comment is relevant. I am not complaining about the fact that the fights in World of Light are difficult to master. They ae not. You cannot master these fights, because as I said, they are jank-based, not skill-based. That is what constitutes the problem. It makes me feel like Dark Souls was better difficulty wise, tbh. You can have really difficult games and be able to master them because the difficulty is skill based. That, I like. This is why the fact that games have difficulty selection should be a good concept: choose the difficulty that matches your own personal skill level. But in World of Light, the difficulty selection is a lie, since almost none of the difficulty comes from needing skill.
About 30% of the fights were all about hazards. About 40% was giant/metal enemies that could only be killed with cheese or hard grind, because the giant killers and metal killers spirits were literally useless and didn't give significant boosts like expected. About 20% were fights that were all about fighting assist trophies and avoiding your opponent's immediate final smash. In truth, only like 4% of the battles had something unique to them that wasn't bullcrap.
The problem with World of Light is that it's not Subspace Emissary 2 and there's little dialogue in the beginning as well as having no story whatsoever. People still replying to my comment huh? Listen, what I am trying to say is that I wish WoL had a story with the entire roster and like ZeRo said, it got boring after a while of repetitive gameplay. Even though Brawl mechanics were not the best on SSE, I liked how it had "mental dialogue" and the interaction between characters was understandable. Overall, that is my opinion on WoL and lets chill out guys.
Tbh though, Subspace wasn't that good except for the story. The platforming sucked because it was using Brawl's engine and the Great Maze was horrible and just as repetitive as the Dark World section in WOL. Both are bad, but I think Subspace is better just because of the story elements.
My favourite parts of WoL: The opening cutscene Running around the map while listening to the “Light/Dark Realm” music Dracula’s Castle sub-area Playing as Master Hand The final boss
People want a story mode because of CHARACTER INTERACTION. That's the main aspect. Sakurai shouldn't implement a story mode if it lacks what made the previous so good.
@@spadez3492 It was stated that it would be different than the Subspace Emissary and would focus more on being fun. Why do that if the rest of the game does so already?
Even with no cutscenes, I would’ve loved to see just lines of dialogue for different character interactions. Even if there was no voice acting, it would’ve been cool to see official takes on different interactions.
@@majorasdude7728 No, you and Ancient Minister are both wrong. The truth is Subspace Emissary >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> World of Light.
The main problem for me was Spirits themselves, which is a very flawed system and bad idea in the first place. In turn, that's where the root of the issues start, and World of Light just becomes so repetitive and super boring. It was an interesting and cool concept but was executed horribly. All they had to do was just make Subspace 2 and everyone would have been happy. I honestly would have been happy with the game being delayed so that they could make a real story mode. I understand why they did it and at least they tried but I think it was wrong to just waste time on making an afterthought adventure mode when they could have focused even more on gameplay, characters, a functional online, or an actual adventure mode, not this dysfunctional grindy bullshit
You are right on the fact that it _draaaags._ Due to Spirits not having a generally good level structure akin to a dedicated story based adventure platformer (again, Subspace Emissary), battles seems repetitive and unorganized; they happen because...they happen. Between having an income distant difficulty curve and recycled battles, things get boring and frustrating very quickly. Considering I used to have fun with Subspace Emissary on Intense (since Brawl was generally slower with characters besides MK, bosses were much more challenging and often quite fun when you get a good rhythm going), I opt for no Spirits during my run unless I absolutely need to in order to properly enjoy myself. On top of this, not much is explained as to *why* Galeem invaded. True, Tabuu didnt have that much of an explanation as to why it was dropping Subspace bombs everywhere either, but Tabuu was accompanied with villians from pre-existing Nintendo/Smash Bros series and franchises. Because of that, the player could then link Tabuu's motivations through actions portrayed by the villians. Galeem/Darhken is just the final boss for what boils down to a glorified Events Mode, and that's it. It's almost insulting to an extent, as Master Hand-while under the exact same premise-worked because Single Player on Smash 64 allowed players to quickly learn skills and battle on the fly, thus making Master Hand more enjoyable to fight. Spirits Mode is disappointing. Not because of what it actually is, but because of what it was advertised to be. It is not a story mode, with barely any character interaction outside of the opening cutscene, and the main villian(s) are just there for the challenge. It is just Events Mode given extreme amounts of flair, falling flat of any cohesive structure to make up for piss poor difficulty curves. Sakurai, where's the _real_ Subspace Emissary 2: Electric Boogaloo?
I could give a better story for WOL in two paragraphs: Galeam was paranoid of the out of control nature of the world and wanted to establish a strict and proper order to it. To do this, Galaem would overwhelm the protectors and gather up villains to establish order to the world and brainwashed some of the heroes (like Bowser or Captain falcon) to do this tyranny, as it would limit the potential within the areas as villains wanted their civilians to be powerless to overthrow them. The Dark guy could be some being that loved Galeam but disapproved what the God was doing, as the same time it wanted to protect Galeam from harm. So when the dark guy got the advantage, he chained Galeam to restrict and fill the world with unlivable darkness to protect Galeam. So, the dark guy saved the universe but doomed the world.
Rando The mode was still disappointing for what it was. Just going around fighting spirits disguised as characters from the roster on repeat for 30+ hours with weird gimmicks that are later repeated anyway. WoL didn’t have to be SSE 2 (even though it would’ve made the game better) but it could’ve been so much better and not as repetitive.
I just wish they took advantage of having so many characters. I'd loved to have seen all the characters interacting together, like in Subspace Emissary, and I also wish there was more storytelling.
@@sonicmania6753 then just remove all the third party characters out of it. I mean like make them still playable i guess in a comparable situation in subspace where u could choose anyone. If characters like cloud weren't in it as far as the cutscenes and shit id still like it more than world of light and it would make sense since they're not nintendo.
Yeah, just like how Wolf, Jigglypuff and Toon Link weren't part of the story put were playable later. They really didn't need to have cutscenes honestly.
Josh Dog sonic saved the characters lives in the last scene when tabuu was about to turn them into trophies again, I think third party characters are relevant
Subspace Emissary > World of Light 😤 Edit: After hearing the opinions of many other fellow smash enthusiasts, it seems that a fair statement would be: Subspace Emissary ≥ World of Light maybe. Just, maybe.
Iaifia Yeah map navigation is soooo slow in WoL even if the gameplay is keeping me in, the 80% of running around for a long while is just plain boring.
@@eliseo5416 Both where side scrolling platforming challenges with enemies throughout and often times a fighter battle at the end. Brawl's Subspace Emissary levels where less set in levels from different characters games and more original (but somewhat generic) locations. Levels contained new enemies, as well as boss battles from different games (like Ridley, Rayquaza, and more). Finally Subspace Emissary told a story and had character interactions through cut scenes.
Daniel Baker that’s the beauty of it though! You wouldn’t be in a side scrolling platforming section with Link in a TLoZ, and it has mechanics to work with it and balances the fighting really well the only problem is well... Brawl physics
Who cares about what he said? I mean, he admittedly said there would be no story yeah, but the game should have one. The first problem with world of light is direction. They were sincere with us but it's like saying that the game is going to be boring af and then praise them cause they delivered. I know I'm ranting and has little to do with your comment right now lol
World of light doesn't help you become stronger as a fighter due to the spirits. they should of made a story mode that can help people as a fighter + better story like the story in brawl
The only cutscene was the one they use to hype the "adventure mode". If instead of having a cutscene for every newcomer in the game, you could use those resources into the real story mode.
I loved World of Light, it was a nice distraction from normal Smash, and I really liked the references and RPG systems, spirits are fun too. My only gripes is that your characters get too OP with some builds, navigating through the map is kinda confusing and finding every spirit to 100% is hard. Edit: Also, some spirits are completely useless and just occupy space in your inventory
Yeah, I feel like he didn't really play through it with spirits. He kept saying over and over that with spirits it's too easy, but if you actually play it front to back gradually getting more powerful spirits it feels very well balanced.
@@tylerhammond4947 bruh i literally had a level 99 spirit like an hour in and just bodied everything. Once i got the polar bear i just super armored and 1 hit everything.... it was soooooo boring
I wish they'd add smash run. I still play my 3ds just to play that mode, it's the most fun I can have in smash when I get too much rage and need to take a break
When it comes to a story mode, Subspace has story but World of Light has mode. Subspace would just be a sluggish Kirby game without the cutscenes while WoL would just be a pretty 5 minute short film without the charming battle scenarios.
"Spirits make the game too easy" Maybe for you zero, it still took me like 80 hours to fully finish world of light, and that was with Spirits. I still failed...a lot
100% Completion in less than 35 hours, it depends on you're spirit setup. If you have a strong one you'll finish most of the spirits on one attempt and most legendary spirit becomes trivial.
Solomona Leiato the only cool part of the finally is when you get to play as master hand. I find the villains boring. I would actually describe world of light as a whole it’s boring.
StarLeo tabuu controlled master hand who controlled ganon who controlled bowser. He felt like a criminal mastermind. Galeem was good because of the opening cutscene, but dharkon felt shoved in for extra content.
Another Subspace would have never happened, considering how huge the game already is having every character and 100+ stages. 100% adding a subspace with a ton of unique cutscenes would have either delayed the game by at least a year and/or increased the price of the game
I thought the bosses were great and I thought it was neat that they took characters that weren’t playable and adjusted cpus to emulate those characters.
Why Life To be fair, most players agree with ZeRo on this one. World of Light is genuinely a failure. In fact, I think his rant was rather too generous towards the game mode.
The video was quite interesting. It actually helped me realized some problems that I failed to notice. Honestly, the world of light was fun, but the mode felt rather shallow in comparison to subspace emissary. It's a tired comparison, but that's the only thing to compare it to.
Here’s a way to make World of Light Fun: Pick one of the annoying mechanics in a lot of fights, then take a drink every time you encounter that gimmick. My personal favorite: take a shot every time you fight a giant King K. Rool with Super Armor (seriously, there are way too many of those).
Sakurai (wanting to make a amazing story mode with all the characters interacting with each other): I’m ready I’m ready Companies owning the 3rd party characters(avoiding the possibility of their characters from being misrepresented): No you ain’t
I don't believe thats the problem. It's more about the fact that it would take a LOT of resources to make a story mode featuring 70+ characters. Also Sakurai is frustrated that people leak the cutscenes online. I hope if they make smash 6 it has all the characters from ultimate, plus new ones. I also hope there will be a new director that is as passionate as Sakurai, and more willing to take on the task of making something such as the sub space emissary.
I think the way to make World of Light better was more development time on the actual game itself. Add more platforming levels to help the variety of what you're doing is how I would do it.
I seriously only pushed myself to the end just so I can change my menu music. I fail to understand why they would lock something so simple behind this behemoth of a single player mode.
Brachmin Dunsparce in the Calamity Ganon sprite fight you have to protect Zelda at least... I forgot the other spirit it happens in but that’s the point! Only 2 unique objectives!
I was actually really disappointed. When I told my bro there was another story mode, he was so hype. But when we played it, we were both like”oh that was... fun...” like I feel like we were both let down, in a big way
Pandinus Not on hard mode. And it only works for some battles, anyway. There are plenty of battles (more than half) this is guaranteed to not work on. Many of these are RNG in the first place, which is why I said that. If anything, the strat that actually does truly carry is Kirby suck-and-cuck or Chrom at walkoffs. It doesn't work on giants, but giants can be cheesed with projectile characters. Even then, though, *that's* the problem. It's not fun. If the only possible way of consistently beating many of the battles is with several attempts of cheese, it just implies it's objectively poor battle design.
"Eventually you're just playing the game because its smash" I just wanted to change the menu music, if that wasnt tied to world of light i never would've completed it
I don't think it's fair to criticize WoL for being too hard/grindy without spirits. It's a core mechanic of the mode, so not using it is a choice to handy cap your self. Personally I see it like someone refuseing to equip new weapons/armor in a RPG, and being annoyed that they don't do enough damage.
Ben Robinson Bruh, are you stupid, or did you not watch the video? He explained very clearly in the video, multiple times (so many times that the video literally was him repeating himself over and over) that his rant is not about the game wanting you to equip spirits. The problem is, as he very clearly explained, that spirits are very poorly balanced. They either make the game too easy on some instances, or when then don't, it's because they literally don't work. 60% of the fights are so easy that you don't spirits for them, even on Hard Mode. And then 35% of them are so bullshit that spirits don't even help, even on Easy mode, which is why Nintendo literally had to add a Very Easy mode several patches later. It's THAT broken. There is no strategizing. Legendary spirits are too difficult to beat even with spirits, and when you beat them, they turn out to be completely useless and trash when you equip them. And you only ever beat them by cheesing the crap out of them, or you literally just get lucky. Take the Pauline fight, for example. That fight is 100% RNG based. No spirit can actually make the fight easier. The same is true with the Galeem fight at the bad ending. Meanwhile, the Dr. Wily fight, which is supposed to be easier with spirits, isn't easier with spirits at all unless you use Ness or Lucas and spam PK Boost, which breaks the fight completely, so that you don't even need spirits. The problem is that, if you play without spirits, the mode is too grindy, BUT if you DO play with spirits, the gameplay is still trash because they are so poorly balanced that they make the fights either super boring and easy requiring no skill, or they are completely useless and the fight remains complete bullshit AND not worth beating. I beat World of Light 100% in Hard Mode using spirits, and spirits are a super trash mechanics. They were implemented worse than the buffering mechanics for air dodging. They tried making an RPG in a fighting platformer, but what they created instead is a garbage version of monopoly for single player.
Ok imo sub space was only good because of the cutscenes. Other than that, it’s just mindlessly beating up enemies. At least with WOL, you have to plan witch spirits to bring in to each fight. However, WOL did drag on for way too long.
I love just hearing you talk your mind on things zero, even if its not smash related, these rants are great and i really like what youve been doing lately
I always said SSE is better, and in the first weeks all my friends shit talked me for it. Then, they beat wol, and came back to me and said the exact thing I said originally
Totally agree, I enjoyed world of light but I’m more interested in the lore of smash bros in general and character interaction. I’d love to learn more about battlefield for example, what world is this? What goes on in that awesome city in the background? It’s so beautifully rendered I want to know more about all of it!
I think World of Light encourages you to use Spirits that are on par with the given enemy and not under or over. The problem is that this is extremely hard to manage unless you constantly planning with this in mind.
Pretty sure the reason why we don’t have cutscenes(or an actual story) is because Sakurai is still salty over how Subspace Emissary cutscenes were just uploaded on the net after Brawl came out. I love the guy, but he just can’t move on or get with the times.
Sakurai said in interview that bringing back so many characters is the reason why the story isn't involved. 70+ fighters is too much to give each one a sizable role. The game focused on bringing back everyone and as many stages as possible. That came at the expense of a more complex story as well as the lack of action/platforming stages (since there was no time/space left to develop them.)

I've waited nearly a year to watch a video like this. I specifically tried as hard as I could to avoid all spoilers for this mode. Today was the day. I got the game at launch and started adventure mode that day. Today is November 9th, 2019. This mode was such an obnoxiously long grind. Unlike Subspace in Brawl, you aren't getting rewarded for your progress. The cutscenes and progression of the story were a great way to reward you and keep going. This mode was just way too long with no rewarding aspects to make me keep going. I worked on it bit by bit over the course of 11 months. The boss fights were cool, but I wasn't a fan of all the times where you'd just fight some random characters. I will say though, the highlight was controlling Master Hand. A dream any long time Smash Player has had. I know this comment was pointless and way too long, but so was World of Light.
1. There are not enough cutscenes 2. I learned new tactics, even with the spirits. I learned how to use Lucas's bullet absorption effectively while fighting the Dr. Willey spirit. 3. You get too powerful with spirits if you either fight everyone or go to the spirit board a lot
the online will get better im sure...I actually really liked wol and thanks to leaks it's basically confirmed were getting home run contast and stage builder in 3.0 to atleast start adding more stuff
Also, Brawl’s Adventure mode is a good example of forcing players to learn mechanics, here’s a good example. Tabuu, he forced me to learn how to spot-dodge cause he has a move where he sends shockwaves through the whole screen. Good example of forcing people to learn mechanics imo. For example if we had a Subspace Emissary 2 for this game we could’ve been forced to master parrying, moving shield, learning to punish an enemy/boss (their guard is let down for a small amount of time but when they’re on guard they have invincibility frames to they’ll counter your attack, something like that
Comparing WoL to Subspace is like comparing apples to bananas. WoL is not supposed to be a story mode. It’s an adventure mode. Sakurai even said it’s supposed to be more about fun. I know not everyone will agree, but I definitely had fun playing through it.
I partially agree with you. I don’t think that it’s MEANT to be- but I think that the few cutscenes and setting framing we get makes it FEEL like it’s supposed to be a story. I bet you that if all it was was an expansion of the spirit board, nobody would have batted an eyelid. However, because of the fact that they’re putting something similar TO a story in the mode, a lot of people feel like that’s a half-arsed way to do it
The apples and bananas argument was always stupid to me. Shovel knight is a better game than bubsy 3D. They are oh so very different but one is clearly superior to the other.
I hate world of light the only reason I'm suffering through it is because someone had the genius idea to make it so you can only change the menu music if you beat it.
How to fix difficultly - Make fights scale to spirit power. With a three star, three spirit, 15,000 power team, do less damage, take way more. No spirits? Have the fight fully normal, no debuffs on either side, excluding enemy spirit qualities. The more powerful a spirit team, the more powerful the enemy. Just the input of Knife Kirby.
I feel it was very restricting.. having to do forced fights I didn't want to do to continue. Also I miss the exploration from emissary, being able to move through locations should be fun and interesting.
World of Light has the same problem that most deck-building games have. If you have the right combo of Spirits, you win. Once I unlocked Little Mac and got Springman to 99 and 3 fist attack spirits, the game was over. The only great thing about it was the final fight between Galeem and Darkhon. That battle was almost worth my entire playthrough.
Okay it can get repetitive in the Light Realm but once I got to the Dark Realm, it got so much better And while I wish there were more cutscenes with dialogue, I enjoyed what we got
For me I thought it was great. But that might be because I've never played Smash 4. So playing new characters was fun for me. Also, the end part was sick XD
I think what they needed to do was balance the spirits. For example, instead of buffing every aspect of the character, there is a trade off for equipping each spirit like raising attack but lowering defense or vice versa. That way the fights can be harder with spirits and also give spiritless runs a chance with the adjusted and balanced difficulty this system allows.
Honestly Subspace E was the best story mode smash has ever had. But the only thing that motivated me to beat world of light was i really wanted to fight Galeem. You saw how he literally Deleted all of the characters. So I was thinking the whole time he might be tougher then Tabu. So you can imagine how I was when I got to him. Unfortunately it didn’t truly live up to my expectations as much as I first pictured him being. Then everything afterwards & yea
I really missed the cooperative aspect of Subspace. Also, I had that there's like 20 variations of the WoL theme throughout the game. For me it completely ruined the song.
Its crazy going back only a year. You can hear how much your voice has changed by just getting healthy, and it seems like you just have more energy now, its great. Good job with your health Zero, proud of you keep it up.
I don't get how people could enjoy WoL more than SSE or say that WoL is better than SSE... Different tastes I guess. Also, Sakurai did state that when beginning the development of SSBU, he made sure to prioritize a single player campaign, so this trashy mode (WoL) wasn't even an afterthought...
Ifeel like the problem of story has a simple solution. I feel like having comic-like cutscenes allows an easier method of telling a story with 70 plus characters. Either having little comics play after certain events or spirits, character unlocks, or something. I know its not a perfect fix, nor would it be suuuper simple to impliment but its a much more doable way to add more incentive throughout the game and would probably feel more engaging than the 3-6 cutscenes
Ok...the main reason, I've heard, that there aren't any curtscenes in WoL is because before Brawl even came out people were uploading and leaking all the cutscenes from SE (Sakurai said it himself). Understandably, this made Sakurai and Nintendo angry and cautious and they didn't put any type of story in Smash 4. Now, in Ultimate, there is one main and AWESOME intro cutscene which, I think, is right after you beat Tabuu. Seeing the intro cutscene really hightened my anticipation with the other cutscenes that were hopefully going to be there. But unfortunately, because of the people who love to spoil things and ruin other players experiences, there aren't any. Now, you could say, ''Don't watch the video'' but this is Nintendo we're talking about and it's kind of hard to ''skip the video'' when tbe spoil IS THE THUMBNAIL. I had this issue with Infinity War because some idiot decided to put SOMEBODY in the thumbnail. While I would've LOVED to see the new cutscenes, I really enjoy WoL as it is right now. Hopefully, we get cutscenes in the next one.
When they add smash ultimate to the next console after the switch, which is my guess since they put alot of money/time into this one. I am desperately hoping they add a good number of charscter interactions(more cutscenes would be nice) a few extra modes(break the targets, boss rush), and lastly, some real palutenas guidances for the dlc characters(that just felt lazy)
KH3 has the best pacing in the series. The worlds actually hold relevance to the plot; it’s not just a shoe horned in plot device. The orgs have actual reasons for being there. The pacing was rather good compared to other games. Also can we knock it off with the KH3 hate this game literally holds absolutely no relevance to this video and you and I both know you said that for cheap likes.
Sparky Spinz ok I understand if you don’t like KH, like legitimately that’s understandable. But if you’re slamming exclusively KH3 for Disney world’s then honestly you’re just a fool. The entire draw of this series is experiencing interactions with your favorite childhood protagonists while balancing a second more mature story. And actually the only movies replicated in KH3 are tangled and Frozen, the rest are all sequels (Toy story is between 2 and 3, big hero 6 is a sequel, PoC is more or less a continuation of the plot of the world from KH2...etc). It’s ok to not like the fact that KH is about interacting with Disney world’s; it’s not ok to slam KH3 exclusively for that, especially because it does the Disney interactions the greatest justice. You can’t tell me with a straight face that those worlds weren’t the most faithful recreations of those Disney works ever made, other than their actual respective movies.
@@mr.redacted767 yeah man I get that. But in so many of the worlds in KH3 there is NONE of that interaction between our heroes and the Disney characters. For all intents and purposes, Sora, Goofy, and Donald are just watching Disney movies and commenting on what's going on occasionally. Not enough interaction and the main characters HAVE NO IMPACT WHATSOEVER. The movie plots play out the exact same way. And the way the worlds were handled are FAR from being the only issues this game has

WoL seems more like a replacement for Events then SSE
It technically is a glorified event mode w/o the cute little caption for each event.
It feels more like Special Orders from Smash 4 more than anything.
Then again, spirit board exists.
It's kind of a replacement of Event Mode, Subspace, and Trophies all at once.
Banana Rama But it doesn’t replace subspace or trophies well. It only really replaces events and even then many matches don’t feel clever when almost all of the event matches did
Problems :
-repetitive battles
-gets boring after a while
-too long
Positives:
@Anime Guy The boss battles are mediocre. The music and backgrounds you can enjoy without even needing to play the game, so not much of an upside to this sorry excuse for a gamemode.
And *extremelly casual.*
And lack of platform levels like in SSE
The battles can get a bit repetitive
Well, _very_ repetitive sometimes
I mean, you could probably play a second Switch game while sitting through them
The whole problem is that the battles are supposed to be interesting and represent different characters but 90% of the time you have Spirits on that negate those effects. It’s boring.

Seeing this comment I was expecting a shit ton of hate comments. Presently surprised that there aren't any.
@Sean Squiers
I know, right?
Too bad that the areas feel generic
@Umerithiel I expected for Sakurai to have gotten over it and have actually put the game first instead of being petty.
I felt like half the battles were dangerously high winds or lava/electric/poison floor.
I only did like 5 fights where that actually affected me though
Exactly, and there only like 4 cutscenes lol.
Well it's not even adventure mode... It is just a giant event mode plus classic mode bosses, and of course 2 special onrs
Foxlife 63 that doesn’t make it any better (I don’t care if it’s a big event it’s called Adventure mode and has its own title screen!)
Tbh though, Subspace wasn't that good except for the story. The platforming sucked because it was using Brawl's engine and the Great Maze was horrible and just as repetitive as the Dark World section in WOL.
Both are bad, but I think Subspace is better just because of the story elements.
@@SeriousStriker I didn't hate Subspace but it was pretty much a watered down Kirby game. I liked that it had co-op though.

Explain? What?
Nintendo should just make an animated movie of World of Light.
I will gladly back-throw money into that.
Hell ya, also love ur content dude
You are right on the fact that it _draaaags._
Due to Spirits not having a generally good level structure akin to a dedicated story based adventure platformer (again, Subspace Emissary), battles seems repetitive and unorganized; they happen because...they happen.
I could give a better story for WOL in two paragraphs:
Galeam was paranoid of the out of control nature of the world and wanted to establish a strict and proper order to it.
Honestly we just wanted another Subspace
They can’t because there’s too many fighters.....even Sakurai said it in a interview

Here’s a way to make World of Light Fun:
Pick one of the annoying mechanics in a lot of fights, then take a drink every time you encounter that gimmick.
My personal favorite: take a shot every time you fight a giant King K. Rool with Super Armor (seriously, there are way too many of those).
Sakurai (wanting to make a amazing story mode with all the characters interacting with each other): I’m ready I’m ready
Companies owning the 3rd party characters(avoiding the possibility of their characters from being misrepresented): No you ain’t
WoL was actually agonizing to play through. makes no sense to me how people had fun playing through this
I loved the fact that it was super long and fun.
The boss battles were aamazzing, but there were too many spirits in the way. Not everyone is cut to be a fighter.

Wily fight, which is supposed to be easier with spirits, isn't easier with spirits at all unless you use Ness or Lucas and spam
PK Boost, which breaks the fight completely, so that you don't even need spirits.
And yet you can beat the Subspace Emissary without using stickers.

1. There are not enough cutscenes
2. I learned new tactics, even with the spirits. I learned how to use Lucas's bullet absorption effectively while fighting the Dr. Willey spirit.
3. You get too powerful with spirits if you either fight everyone or go to the spirit board a lot
I’d rather wait until Holiday 2019 if it meant better singleplayer and online
the online will get better im sure...I actually really liked wol and thanks to leaks it's basically confirmed were getting home run contast and stage builder in 3.0 to atleast start adding more stuff
For example if we had a Subspace Emissary 2 for this game we could’ve been forced to master parrying, moving shield, learning to punish an enemy/boss (their guard is let down for a small amount of time but when they’re on guard they have invincibility frames to they’ll counter your attack, something like that
For me wol is just a mode where you get to see your favorite characters as if there nothing
Biffyguy Biffy Compairing Shovel Knight to Bubsy is like comparing apples to Taco Bell burritos. Because Bubsy 3D always ends in shit.
Aaron Of Doom Subspace was an adventure mode too.
I hate world of light the only reason I'm suffering through it is because someone had the genius idea to make it so you can only change the menu music if you beat it.
We really really need an official Boss Rush Mode
I honestly wish we have one though....like Brawl did.
Boss Rushes are one of the biggest cliches in gaming history...
I would not mind a boss rush mode if has no unlockable challenges.
I never wanna see those bosses again
moonhead538
So? They’re still fun
I had more fun playing the Melee Adventure Mode than World of Light
Sakurai: This mode is more about "Fun" than story
But where's the fun?
@@vincentlira1956 Sakurai: Me getting monry
Okay it can get repetitive in the Light Realm but once I got to the Dark Realm, it got so much better
And while I wish there were more cutscenes with dialogue, I enjoyed what we got
For me I thought it was great. But that might be because I've never played Smash 4. So playing new characters was fun for me. Also, the end part was sick XD
smash 4 single player was terrible, he was more so talking about brawl
@@runterranger7398 he means he liked playing with the characters because he never had before
I think what they needed to do was balance the spirits. For example, instead of buffing every aspect of the character, there is a trade off for equipping each spirit like raising attack but lowering defense or vice versa. That way the fights can be harder with spirits and also give spiritless runs a chance with the adjusted and balanced difficulty this system allows.
My main problem with World of light is that it’s so boring!
The thing with world of light that really pisses me off is getting teamed on by multiple CPU’s🤦🏻♂️
I wish we got an actual story like Subspace Emissary. Just imagine a fresh Story Mode in Smash Bros. w/ cutscenes.
You basically reviewed KH3
-Too easy
-Pacing is bad (no middle point)
-Good music
Alex Pollo do you even play KH games they all have terrible pacing
KH3 has the best pacing in the series. The worlds actually hold relevance to the plot; it’s not just a shoe horned in plot device. The orgs have actual reasons for being there. The pacing was rather good compared to other games. Also can we knock it off with the KH3 hate this game literally holds absolutely no relevance to this video and you and I both know you said that for cheap likes.
@@mr.redacted767 except the worlds hold no relevance at all... it's just watching movies in a game engine lol
And the way the worlds were handled are FAR from being the only issues this game has
Yes definitely keep doing this video format. You’re very engaging as far as discussion videos go, and that’s not super common.
