First, I LIKE THIS VIDEO.
Second, I'm not going to read all the comments that were already posted (there's a lot), so maybe I'm stepping on toes or re-stating the already stated.
This video is informative, professional, well spoken and well illustrated. The narrator sounds young, but this is first rate. My only criticism is that it could have been more comprehensive. He could have mentioned that lowering FPS, resolution, and recording to a Ram-disk could all help improve the output FPS.
Finally, GDFS videos are here!! Wait is over. Nice video. 5 stars from me.
Wow you did Fraps a great service with this video, I didnt know that I could only record 30 secs on the free ver. so I was kind of going crazy when most of my videos....were rather small....
I also didnt know that the red fps tells you that your recording, this vid helped ALOT! thanks for the vid
I'm glad it was able to help you! :)
thanks alot for the clarification. i will certainly try it and let you know how it worked out
Amazing vid! nice work guy!
Great tutorial! Thanks for this.
Thanks! Took a while to talk about everything Fraps had to offer but I was able to do it. :)
Erik
WOW, this is great.. keep 'em coming!!
When I first saw this video on my subscriptions, I thought that there isn't gonna be anything new to me...
But after watching I learned a few new stuff!
like that No Sync thingy!
Thank!:D
Thanks for watching! :)
Thanks for the tip, as well.
Great tutorial! thanks.
@ Cowpwns so u just have to pay for the full version once? I just want the camera that records in game footage, so do u have to play monthly for that?
thanks for the tutorial, very helpful
professionally done
Hi, I was wondering why fraps was stopping in a 10 min recording. Thanks for having this tutorial.
Thanks for the positive feedback. :)
great video very informitve and covered everything
Also, if you do decide to record with Fraps, like GearDown mentions i highly recommend recording the videos to an unused secondary Harddrive or even to an external Harddrive as the file sizes are huge.
I have a 2TB external HDD and one of my hour long recordings managed to reach more than 100GB of data (it was split into multiple parts).
Great tutorial
awsome!
you know the software inside out, well done, great video.
You got it! Glad you liked the video. :)
Great Tutorial and Tips :)
Thanks, excellent video
but I still have a question : Can I remove the data that shows up on the top of the screen while I record ? M not talking about the two numbers that you remove with F12, but about those that shows up only when you record, FPS and ms and other, all written in white
thankyou so much!!!!!! taught me alot... you deserve a like
@Jonnyh2001 First you have to have full version of Fraps, when you do go to FPS and uncheck "Stop benchmark after [number] seconds." at the bottom
You obviously know FRAPS very well, thanks for uploading. +1Like
Thank you for the LowDown. Knew most of the basics already, but just wanted to see what you can give. My problem is usually with the resources at my disposal. 4Gig ram with a core2 duo...not enough. Need an upgrade!!!
thank u dude! this was helpful!
@Sono42one when your ingame you just press the button that put as the record, ( the default record button is F9 but you can change it to any button) hope this helps?
amazing tutorial thanks for the tips =]
good tutorial!
I saw your stuff n liked it so I subscribed :D
Thanks man... Now im really getting fraps and ditching hypercam... Though fraps has a big difference in performance issues...
Yes it does. The clip you recorded will be automatically saved in a Fraps folder in your Videos or Documents folder.
yeah ik u guys will make lot more amazing tutorials like this. =]
Thanks! I am looking forward to getting fraps so I can record my landings in flight sim!
Good Tut. Thx!
Your voice is amazing.
thanks this helped alot
Well if you go to the Fraps website it gives you a download tab, which is the fraps trail, and then the buy/purchase tab, which unlocks the full version of fraps. The 30 second trial is so that you can test out their software to see if it works for you
@hidjedewitje Are you opening fraps before or after you open the game??
i have a question please. when i use hypercam it laggs my screen really badly i therefor have 2 only record a very small section of my screen. does fraps stop it from lagging?
so, theres something i want to record, but it should take about 8-12 days of filming time, but im planning on replaying it at about 4x speed, would haveing recording set to a frame rate of 10 give me a smaller file size?
Wow thanks! i just found i didnt register fraps! Big help!! thanks!!
Thanks, mate! :)
Where did you get that background? I love it!
For all you people asking how to start recording with fraps the button is F9 , the frame rate counter on the right hand side of ur screen should go red when recording.
PanosNK did you find the solution? How we can record a full video in the call of duty with fraps? What do you mean when you are saying "highlight and then paste them"?Is there any other way to connect the parts one by one?
@animefreakc94 yes , download "format factory" , install it and convert the file (AVI) to MP4 (3X smaller without quality loss)
awesome tut, thank you, 5/5*
I have meny quastions for posting videos of games on youtube... playing in full HD, on a 1Mb dl, 30KB upload line. What image speed? what recording size? what editing programme? and what file size target? Its confusing that half of fullHD would be 960*540 wich i believe is not a standard youtube video size so do you accept savage upscalling, add black lines, or must one change the ingame resolution to be more appropriate with the video? Wich would be awcard for everyday gaming...
For the full version, do you have to buy it or not?
I have a Phenom 2 X6 black edition proccesor, 1gb ati radeon 6950, 16gb ram. Is that enough to record video's with fraps?
Thanks helped alot
Thanks for watching!
Thanks!
@dredgie456 I know, i just bought fraps, and i only get to record for 3:30 minutes now!
What is wrong with my Fraps?
THX WORK!!!
plz answer my question:
when i recording i need to push the key F9 and it's will be a new clip how to set them together?so it's will be like a movie.
I have an computer with amd athlon x2 at 3k ghz, i wonder wich options i can record with or if my computer is to bad for recordin ( cod: mw2 )
i want to try your tip on saving aircraft in another file. can you explain a bit more how to do this and where to save them?
Hey, how exactly is do I "launch" Fraps and get it to start recording a game? The hotkeys aren't responding when being pressed and the folders are always empty. I'm using version 3.4.6
@EnnTomi1 If you watch the video - FFW to about 8:12 - he explains that video size is limited to 3.9 GB.
Does this only record video games, or can i record youtube videos or whats going on on my screen?
i have the full version. i was recording somthing then when i went to review it it was broken down into 3 diff. 8min video. how can i fix that so its one video?
Nice video
How do you record ingame sounds as well as your microphone sounds?
@disaren Do u have a game running? press f9 when u start playing.
Can you upload it straight to youtube or do you put it onto windows movie maker?
If u get the full version do u have to pay every month/year?
@MomoMovies2000 what are you trying to record? I'm only about to start using fraps so probably the worst person to give advice but a general principle would be to lower the quality of your recording. Unfortunately an old computer with a full harddrive will porbably give crap results but you can lower FPS so make recording smoother, also decrease resolution in-game or on your computers control panel...if you're recording a game, lower the graphics and deatial etc
@GearDownFS do u need a good computer? (for fraps)
hey guys do when i'm making some videos from fraps they use a lot of my computer space so is there any way to make it use less of my computer space coz i really wanna make some vids but i dont want to use my computer space
Please Relpy
thnx for the help nice vids!!!!!
Hey whenever i try to record Minecraft in fullscreen , FRAPS stops responding for some reason i was wondering if you know how to fix this???
@XxBlessedSpiritxX go to FPS and uncheck "Stop benchmark after [number] seconds." at the bottom
Is there any way to boost the microphone volume while recording? I could practically yell into it and get great quality on skype or steam chat, but on fraps it turns out terrible, nothing but mumbles. Any way to fix that?
If I want a smooth video, how many frames per second should I put? Please reply ASAP
i have a quad core processor and a gaming card. this good enough?
well thank you.Verry usefull
@mrliberty20 I have the same problem, everything I record splits into 3-4 minutes clips, if you find out how to fix that, please tell me :D
you have to enter the game and once you do press F9 or your hotkey that you set up. once you do that the yellow numbers in the corner will turn red, that means its recording
@phoenix9610 it's because you use the free\trial version of fraps (30 sec limit)
Thank you. :)
is a quad core processor, 2 gb Ram, and an extra 120 gb hard drive a good starting setup?
@starwars1744 youre supposed to, but thats if you want to keep the membership, for the actual program, just once
Yes. The video output is not compressed yet. Use a program like Windows Movie Makes and save the file as a WMV and it will compress it. Also recording on "half size" will help keep file size down.
thanks for the information! i always save my video files in my C: drive.. but i have 2 drives one the is C: drive and the other is a D: drive..i still have 100GB on my D: drive so i'll check it out later..thanks
So if i just have fraps running in the background and i hit the hotkeys it will start recording?
How do you choose what part you wish to record?
I need some help. I downloaded the free version of fraps and used it to record a little bit of Minesweeper, just to test it out. Ever since then, I haven't been able to open Minesweeper again, so I'm wondering if that was caused by fraps or if it's completely unrelated. I don't know what I should do. If someone knows how to fix it or anything, please reply and let me know.
fraps is good, however i cant record sound. does fraps has problems with usb headsets?
@usaf31 You have to use a video editing software. I would suggest Virtual Dub because it's free. You have to use the append option in it to tag the videos on to each other.
@nascar08freak for some reason when i play call of duty is recording but cuts the video to pieces
good video
@XxGMasterxX its ok i got fraps now and i can record as long as i want :D
what do you click to record
you have very good mic
@don2xify same thing happened to me. except i recorded 3 hours of material and it decided to split them up into 30 second segments....
