Im imagining a reclusive person having somebody stumble on a room in their house filled with "friends" sewn together from body parts they stole from graves
I'm imagining in the very beginning, there's this scary guy who is following this girl, and then he breaks into her home. He finds her in her sewing room, sewing her friends. And then the roles are completely reversed, and he never sees the light of day again
Can you do a tutorial for this shirt or something similar if you’re feeling up to it? Seeing as we’re all at home for a while, I’d love to transform some older loose shirts into fitted tanks for the summer
Yeah, satin tends to turn out more snug and unforgiving, than cotton mockup fabric! That’s definitely a thing. It just has no give at all, due to the tight weave (which contributes, to making it so shiny). But hey, it was just a tiny bit too tight, by no means a total disaster. The train is a great addition, gives it a little more elegance and drama, just perfect 👌
Thanks for the tip! I am planning to sew a satin dress and I'm procrastinating so much because I'm terrified ._. do you know if it's a good idea to size up with the pattern you use?
The bias is always stretchy. The amount of stretch is different from fabric to fabric, but still, sewing on the bias will always allow more stretch than sewing on the selvage. The bias of woven fabric offers both stretch and malleability. These properties are both the advantage and disadvantage that most experience when working on the bias. Though it offers a forgiving fit, the instability of the fabric can be difficult to work with.
justme The others are right, sewing on the bias is an option...keep in mind though, that that will probably change the amount of fabric, you need. It’s also...tricky...in and of itself, because the seams will tend to stretch while you sew. I would honestly only attempt this, if you have an overlock machine or know, how to stabilize bias cut seams. If you have the fabric already and buying stretch satin (with elasthan) isn’t an option, I‘d stick with regular straight grain pieces...just cut them with really wide seam allowances and baste them for a try-on. That should give you enough material, to make up for the unforgiving material.
I’m siding with everyone else on this. Sewing Friends needs to be a thing...like yesterday. I have the best friends in the world, but I don’t have crafty friends like that.
You have some awesome sewing friends indeed. And a great theme song to compliment them and this sewing adventure. Hugs to all the wonderful people who made this possible
When you two talked about 3 star reviews I realized just how much I need this, because I am always the one saying that the movies that are controversial are fine, not that bad, or JUST OKAY. When a RUclipsr that I follow did a video about how The Last Jedi wasn't the worst or best thing ever I was so happy because someone understood how you can think a thing has issues and wish that it was better, but still tolerate or like it. Rowan Ellis did a video talking about how in some communities (she talks about LGBTQ issues, but it applies to disability representation and other places) don't allow people to criticize representation of minority groups, because there isn't enough, and if people don't seem to like it or there doesn't seem to be a big enough market for it, then they won't make more. I remember seeing a political cartoon that made a joke about how the window to criticize progressive politicians for the decisions that they have made before an election (or when people will say that you shouldn't criticize them because it could help the people you don't want to win) seems to keep getting smaller. Tl;Dr Can someone actually make a place to say that things are mediocre? I think that if someone made something like this then it could really help with so many issues.
You could try if Reddit has such a thing. There's so many subredddits. One is about unstirred paint, of all things. If you can't find one, you can ask for help on the findareddit sub. Good luck!
I love that the top Annika is wearing in the SquareSpace portion is the same top she was making in the beginning to procrastinate working on her wedding dress 😂
Pennywise The dancing clown There are so many movies/book that I would enthusiastically give a three star review. I get so animated when I love the story but the filming is bad or ending or acting etc. ect. Or I love all of those things and the story needs help. I would definitely right a three star review. Someone do this please!!!!
Everything about this brought me so much joy! Loved the intro & the song & seeing this journey, especially since we've had spoilers & already know it turned out well.
Annika, I have loved your channel for long now, and I have just realised, you remind me very much of my great grand mother physically. She is now 92 and not in a great place sadly, but she is had a very great life and is the sweetest and I feel kind of comforted to have found this resemblance between you two. I am sobbing while I write this but I am truly so glad and also happy for you, please have a long great life, lots of love from France ❤🌼)
I love how your friends seem like the most amazing creative group of people and their characters are so strong I feel like I've seen a whole season of your "sewing friends", and not just one video 😂 Looks like you had a great time! Congratulations on your wedding! 💜💐
2 years ago I purposefully made the decision to find friends that sew, and met them all through Instagram, and then started up a weekly sewing group. It was a fair bit of work and took a lot of courage but I kept telling myself, the worst that'll happen is that no one will turn up. 2 years later and these are the people that kept coming to the sewing sessions, and we have all become really close friends :) when this whole global pandemic runs it's course, I hope you can find sewing friends as well!
So I came on here to take a break from making my daughter's first communion dress... I have been following your wedding dress making saga. I was stuck on her dress and almost gave up but you actually helped me . Thank you !!
As stressful as sewing can be some times (especially with big projects) I think it is so special that you are making your own wedding dress and got the chance to share that experience with your friends. Also, the hourglass figure of the wedding dress is to die for.
big mood being the spoonie friends on the couch. i know ive been having the most trouble doing ANY sorts of projects. the dress is going to look amazing, and you and your friends rock annika!
Honestly your little add sections are delightful. Normally I tune out for as/promo bits but you actually make it entertaining and I love that. You're not just spouting facts
I have been following you for years, but have never been much of a commentor. Now that we're in isolation, I find myself wanting to let people know when they've created things I love. So I wanted to say, it's been AMAZING to watch you come into yourself as a content creator. I used to just love your in-depth sewing tutorials and your willingness to show us when you messed up and how you fixed it. Back then you only had a small community of followers and it has grown massively. I love that now you've injected so much personality into your videos on top of their education, and it's been so much fun to watch your channel grow and receive the attention is deserves. Can't wait to see where you head next! Thanks for keeping it going.
Likely she found them as vintage, or plucked them from her own shop (she sells handmade and vintage earrings alongside her business @bellstreet on insta)

The thing about the arrows on the pattern is not necessarily that you have to have the fabric in the same "direction" but more a case that the line that goes along the pattern piece, shows you which direction the warp of the fabric should follow. :D
@@bellstreet2700 Some patterns are expected to be cut on the bias, others slightly of bias. But in conclusion - following the arrows is very important!

To see all your friends team up and help you with your dress.. is soo sweet and heartwarming! It s a bit like a disney princess that didnt live in isolation
Annika, your dress is already looking so beautiful! I am soo looking forward to seeing the final dress! On another note, could you please give us a tutorial on the cool striped t-shirt with the tie in the front that you are wearing in this video? I really really like it and would like to make one for myself, but I'm a little unsure about how to do it...

I love this idea for when we are all allowed to be in the same room together again! 🙈🤩
Annika Victoria I love the idea too, I'm looking forward to it! :D
"Sewing friends" could be the title for a cute series or a horror movie
Melissa Mencari uhm, I want both please.
If the horror movie baddy found the "sewing friends" in their sewing room the baddy would be doomed.
