this is such a solid list! 2023 was an amazing year filled with lots of diversity. despite this video being only 3 minutes long, it was long enough to showcase the many sounds we are able to hear in 2023 alone. my personal favourite albums from this video were albums 10, 4, and 3. as for my favourite album of 2023, i have to give that prestigious title to the rose and their latest album, "dual". the album showed a great level of cohesion, yet all of the songs sounded so different from each other. i love how some of the lyrics to the songs briefly touch upon "dawn" and "dusk", and the music videos also have a similar 'easter egg' hidden within them. the music videos for the tracks "you're beautiful" and "back to me" are in colour, as they are on the "dawn" side of the album, the half which is represented by a flower crown and many beautiful shades of oranges and yellows, as well as a minimal amount of pink. the music video for the track "alive" is in complete greyscale, as it is on the "dusk" side of the album, represented by a white crown of thorns and the colour black. the flower crown and crown of thorns overlap in the middle of the album cover, in the shape of a venn diagram. as the final track on the album, "wonder" is meant to represent the overlap of dawn and dusk, the overlap of bright and dark, the overlap of positivity and negativity. as such, the music video for "wonder" is half colourful, and half greyscale. overall, i think that the entire album was very well thought out, from the track placement, to the music videos, to the album cover, and even to the concept photos. this album deserves all the praise and attention it has been given, yet it still deserves more. if there's one thing i could wish for, it's for everyone to listen to this masterpiece of an album in its entirety; no skipping tracks, no shuffling.
