The Galaxy Buds sounded very digital / processed in a quiet environment. But they performed really well in noisy environments with very strong reduction of background sound.
Thanks for watching and definitely agree. I think the digital / processed sound in a quiet environment is the result of Samsung's AI, which also seems to produce a random "sss" sounding artifacts after some words which I found annoying, especially in a quiet environment. I'm hoping Samsung can tweak the AI in a future firmware update to not put too much digital processing when the Buds3 Pro detect noise less than x dBA, to keep the call quality sounding more natural in a quiet environment. As for the noisy environment, this is where the Galaxy Buds3 Pro and it's use of noise cancellation AI really shine and comes really close to HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, and some would argue sounds equal to or better based on subjective preference. This was really tough to score between Samsung and HUAWEI, but for me it all came down to annoying random "sss" sounds on the Buds3 Pro and the fact that it still took a few seconds for the AI to kick in. However, at the end of the day, the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro is a better overall package IMHO than any other TWS Earbuds I've tried, and I think would take the Crown from the Technics EAH-AZ80 as the best all round TWS Earbuds of 2024. @@weekendgearguide that digital "sss" was an issue when I tested out the Nothing Ear. I got comments from people that I sounded digital or distorted. Nothing Ear sounds good in a lot of RUclipsr mic tests but they don't do real world signal testing. I am still trying to decide between the Samsung Buds3 Pro and the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 (my phone is a Galaxy S23 Ultra) Does the Buds3 Pro have good call quality on Whatsapp? I watched some videos and they said the quality varies a lot depending on the app you're using. Also, have you have any quality issues with the buds? Thanks!
Your video is the perfect one!! Thank you for the effort you put into it. Quick question, for the galaxy bud 3 pro, which phone it is connected to? Samsung mentioned the wide bandwidth for call quality, not sure if it actually makes any difference in the real world use.

Thanks for the comment. Unfortunately, I've sold my Sony LinkBuds S, but yes, they were previously the voice call quality champion and probably the best value considering it's price, and would often go on sale. However, it should be noted that the LinkBuds S was going against older generations of TWS Earbuds and was tested using an older Dynamic Loud Noise Test Environment, and I don't think would perform as well against some of the newer generations and updated Dynamic Loud Noise Test Environment. Maybe I'll repurchase the LinkBuds S if they go on a really good sale and do a follow-up test with latest firmware. Cheers!
Absolute best reviewer on this niche but all too important and underserved consideration. Kind of a contradictory takeaway from this, but I think I am going tongo with the Samsung. Check with android device. I think airpod has advantage with airpods. Also im suspicious that apple deliberately making other earbuds worse in their performance.
Wow! Finally, a new contender that can rival with HW Freebuds Pro 3. Huawei has been dominating in ENC earbud since Freebuds Pro (1stgen) and no one came close other than Elevoc Clear. Can't wait to receive my unit by the end of August. FYI I've also tested Airpods Pro 2 with beta firmware (7A244B) but the voice quality sounds worst than 6F8 in background noise cancelling.
Thanks for watching and the comments. Are you getting the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 by end of August? If so, enjoy! They are great TWS Earbuds not only for voice call quality, but in general well within the Top 5 or 10 in other categories like ANC, Sound Quality, Transparency, connection stability, etc. Thanks for the comment about the AirPods Pro 2 with beta firmware. Keep up the hard work 💪 By the way, do you have a plan to release the voice call comparison for Huawei Freeclip? (saw you mentioned about it back in March) Last thing to mention, after my EPOS Impact 1060 updated to the latest firmware 1.2.168 , I notice my voice sounds more compressed and comes with the "ssss" reverb like sound regardless if I'm in quiet / dynamic environment. Wonder if you encounter a similar situation

Been waiting on this review for awhile was trying to decide between the freebuds pro 3 and the samsung galaxy buds 3 pro. After watching this review I see that the freebuds are a little better for calls but not by a lot. I have a samsung phone so I'm gonna stick with samsung. Hopefully an update can make up the difference.
Thanks for watching! The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are a solid performer, and aside from some annoying random "sss" sounding artifacts, the Buds3 Pro overall still does well for voice call quality, and especially performs better than most other TWS Earbuds in loud dynamic background and windy environments. I'm sure Samsung will be releasing incremental improvements in voice call quality for the Buds3 Pro in expected multiple firmware releases, so stick to the Buds3 Pro especially if you have a Samsung Galaxy phone. Cheers!
Sorry but I think you're a little too generous in terms of the ratings given to the Airpods Pro 2. Between the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3, I will choose the Freebuds Pro 3, already for the price ($120-$150), and also the quality of the microphones in phone calls in noisy and windy environments, the Freebuds Pro 3 are very good in this area, and stable, the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, from one test to another, the microphones are magical or catastrophic 🤷🏽♂️, but mostly, because I don't like the fact that we don't have a standard Hi-Res codec (LDAC), and true multipoint on the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. But it's clear that both are better than the Airpods Pro 2 in phone call, because, despite the fact that the test is done with an Apple 🍏 device (Apple devices tend to negatively impact the Bluetooth connection of any non-Apple devices and/or even MFI), and they don't use their HD calling features, they're already better than the Airpods Pro 2. On the other hand, for those who want headphones for less than $50-$80, with good quality of ANC, sound 🔊 and phone calls, Earfun Air Pro 1 / S, Realme Buds Air 5 Pro, Qcy Ht05 / Ht08 Melobuds Pro, and the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC (its ANC rivals the big boy earbuds at $200-$300). 🙏🏽
Thanks for watching and the detailed comments and feedback! Although the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro do well overall, I too would choose the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 only because it still performs the best overall for Voice Call Quality out of all other TWS Earbuds that I've tested, which is my priority, though the other points you mentioned for choosing the FreeBuds Pro 3 are also valid reasons for people who prioritize price/value, stability and available codecs as well. As for the Galaxy Buds3 Pro microphones, I also was surprised to hear both it's over processed sound signature which is easily heard in a quiet environment, yet also surprised how well they reduced the loud dynamic background noise, both of which I'm sure is due to Samsung's AI which had a respective negative and positive effect. Hopefully Samsung tweaks the AI in a future firmware update to make the Buds3 Pro sound more natural and remove the random "sss" sounding artifact which to me sounded really annoying which is especially noticeable in a Quiet Environment. As for comparison between Samsung and Apple, as shown in each test (refer to details under the picture of the Earbuds for each test), the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro was tested on a Samsung Galaxy smartphone with the latest Galaxy Wearable App Firmware on latest Zoom (Android App), latest Buds3 Pro firmware and latest Android 14 version. The Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen was also tested with latest firmware, iOS firmware and latest Zoom (iOS App). So they are both using the respective ecosystem OS Platform and Hardware they were designed for. Finally, thanks for the other suggestions. I've tested the soundcore Liberty 4 (not the NC version, but the non-NC version) in one of my previous videos for voice call quality and it did fairly well for a budget friendly earbuds. Cheers!

I have not yet compiled and overall ranking table for voice call quality, but I'll definitely consider it for future videos with some caveats that earbuds tested previously may perform differently if retested due to updates in their firmware.
Cheers!
@@neilnitin4004 Samsung buds FE is highly rated for call quality. Hasn't been tested here. Whether the buds pro 3 is better than the FE isn't clear as yet. But FE definitely beat out the buds pro 2.
@@johndoe-vc1we Dont bother about Samsung FE. I got them too, like cheap backup. For calls on street or noisy place they are hopeless. Only good thing with hrs them is, battery life. They usually last +7hrs ANC off and then sound quality is pretty basic. Basically not good for calls!
@@neilnitin4004 well that's odd because rtings has them at the top for call quality in a noisy place. They have not tested FB3 and its not on their radar.
Bought Galaxy Buds 3 Pro and mic quality was really strange , I wonder why it varies from and app to another, phone calls were fine, MS Teams calls were fine, Zoom calls were the worst... Then other results were different on the same day 😬
Then I tested them in windy and noisy environment and it was terrible, returned them the next day.
Something is wrong with these buds
Hi. Have you had a chance to make Whatsapp calls with them? Are their good as regular calls? Thanks
Whoahh nice thanks for the comparison esp with samsung 3 pro, freebuds 3 pro still win!
Liberty 4 pro is the new call quality contender
Pls consider Honor Buds 3 pro as well
Check with android device.
I'll wait till official iOS18 comes out and will do a follow-up review to see if what Apple claims to be improved background noise and wind noise reduction during voice calls is actually true!
Cheers!
@@weekendgearguide Sorry, I mean the Galaxy Buds3 Pro by end of Aug due to the recall :)
@@kelvinnakamura Ah, thanks for clarifying!
The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are probably IMHO the best all round TWS Earbuds (especially if you own a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, but also works with other Android smartphones and iPhone), and takes the all round crown away from Technics EAH-AZ80.
Enjoy your Galaxy Buds3 Pro!
Cheers!
@@weekendgearguide too bad I retired my S22U, now on Vivo X100 Pro . But I'll still enjoy the sound coming from the dynamic+planar drivers and ANC. Not to mention the terrific voice call too!
I'm really grateful that I found your channel dedicated to testing voice call quality of these headset and earbuds! It is easier for the viewer (or at least me) to benchmark the voice call since you're using the same test case and scenario across every video! Keep up the hard work 💪
By the way, do you have a plan to release the voice call comparison for Huawei Freeclip? (saw you mentioned about it back in March)
Last thing to mention, after my EPOS Impact 1060 updated to the latest firmware 1.2.168 , I notice my voice sounds more compressed and comes with the "ssss" reverb like sound regardless if I'm in quiet / dynamic environment. Wonder if you encounter a similar situation
@@kelvinnakamura That's right, those aspects of the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are the same across all phones. You can also control the basic media play/pause, volume up/down and ANC/transparency from the Buds3 Pro touch controls.
Glad you found my channel and glad it helps provide a good and consistent way for you as the viewer to compare the voice call quality of each TWS Earbuds.
I do plan on doing a comparison with the HUAWEI FreeClip and Bose QC Ultra Open Earbuds, but have not had time lately, which is good since Bose has recently made some improvements. Hopefully in the next week or two I will release that comparison.
Thanks for the feedback on the EPOS Impact 1000 series. I will check this out and maybe do a comparison.
Cheers!
Cheers!
I feel like galaxy buds 3 slurred all s’s. It sounds very muddy
I think Samsung edged HW. Apple sucked and Tech was a joke
Im getting Huawei 😊
Cheers!
@@weekendgearguide Thank you for the detailed answer 🙏🏽
On the other hand, I would like to know if you have tested the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro with a Fold 6 or Flip 6 with the 16 kz enabled for HD call quality, because, at the moment, only the latest Fold and Flip have this feature?
🙏🏽
@@rolins3279 I would love to test with the new Fold 6 or Flip 6, but these are very expensive and I don't have any money left after saving up for the Galaxy Buds3 Pro 😞
I will certainly try and ask some of my family members or friends if they have or planning to get either these phones for me to try out and will post a comparison review update with the Super wide band speech feature enabled and disabled, to see and hear the difference.
Cheers!

@@weekendgearguide One last question, in terms of ANC, if the maximum score is 10, and we assume that the Airpods Pro 2 have 9/10, what will be the ratings of the Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 and the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro?
