I sincerely hope one of the interviewees sue them for harassment - none of it was funny, it was just bullying a race of people. Serious boomer fails in this one.
Swingin’ Pig Most of the comments are butthurt liberals who will get offended by anything. Watters was just making light of Chinese culture while trying to learn more about their political views
atm97ify Chinese culture? Haha he regularly mixed up Chinese, Korean, and Japanese culture. That’s like someone interviewing immigrants in China who are from Canada, Great Britain and America and calling them all American cause they’re white. The video was funny in the sense that it shows what an idiot this interviewer is. Also, he wasn’t out to “learn about political views.” He has a preconceived goal to paint Asian people as ignorant and deliberately interviewed elderly people who didn’t know English to achieve that goal. If they interviewed any valid arguments, they would have edited them out. Liberals do the same things in their vids sometimes. So you should know better. I’m a conservative but this video was a low blow for Fox.
@@atm97ify Funny at the stupidity of Fox News and this male, you can expect him next he go to Taco Bell to know Mexico people's thoughts or to an Italian restaurant for Italian news>> So funny, only America not anywhere else can happen.
for all the people saying this wasn't offensive, imagine watters doing a similar style report in a black neighborhood with african american stereotypes..
Chappelle was a comedic genius. He mocked the stereotypes of his own culture to show the ridiculousness of them. The stereotypes themselves were always the thing being joked about, not the culture they depicted!
supermanin10 not at all, I'm sure people of all races, cultures and religions found this bit offensive. I was using an example of something that the show would NEVER do to prove a point.
O'Reilly actually went on to defend this skit. Saying that it wasn't until the liberals and media made it an issue was when people started to complain about it. So he basically thinks all this is acceptable.
Eu Sei so after people started complaining, people started complaining.... that makes sense, good point. Idk what you or bill think that proves, but you're right that that generally is how things work
The Chinese should retaliate and send a reporter into a suburban starbucks and ask the customers if they have ever partaked in a school shooting, or maybe ask them how many other seasonings they use on their chicken besides salt and pepper. But seriously this has got to be the most offensive "report" i have ever seen in my life, im not even Asian but damn...
It's cringe worthy, but only because Watters is making himself look like a buffoon. The entire segment is white man's ignorance meets Chinese Culture. It's done in a playful manner, with no malice intended. I as a Chinese person found it entertaining.
Jesse didn't make any negative comments at all let alone something criminal like a shooting. He made a lot more mafia and other negative references when he interviewed Italian and Russian people in past segments. He does simple, harmless, schoolboy comedy. This is the kind of light reference to stereotypes that is making more fun of the stereotypes themselves than of the people.
Thank you Lambert. I thought I was the only other Chinese person that found Watters buffoonery mildly amusing. People can't take a joke nowadays and will get outraged at anything to give them some sort of cudgel to beat others over the head with. Being offended gives people status and makes them feel good. Christ.
Firstly American Thinker is a conservative biased organization that has been highly criticized for it's conspiracy theories. Secondly please provide a source for your claim. I sense some underlying "butthurtedness" on your part but let us access this "source" you speak of so we can analyze and debate.
Haha same ! Reporter goes undercover in Chinatown by wearing a silk robe. At least it had self -awareness, and was funny. This bit, on the other end, may not be Fox’s lowest, but it sure has an impressive cringe-factor.
Yeah, I came here from the Onion video. Way easier to watch...they were satirizing the undercover agent, not the people! This one was gross, not funny.
Lucy Zhang don’t feel it’s heartbreaking, to me Jesse looked like the idiot and Xenophobic. I prefer Fox over the liberal media but Jesse is an arrogant jerk
I can follow your point of view to a high degree, however, if you live in America you have to accept that Westerners are more frank, to the point of insulting. What I found the most upsetting is that many ethnic Chinese are scared to talk about politics in public.
@@datura_boof so? People have always acted like nobody is racist towards Asians. It’s only now coming to light how it’s always been normalized to hate them.
I visited Chinatown in NYC for the first time last Summer. (I'm from Michigan) I've never seen a nicer group of people. Everyone greeted me, showed me around the area, recommended great restaurants, informed me of local events, and hey I even got a girl's number and played a pick up basketball game with a group of guys. Fox News making fun of these hard working and loving people is a damn shame. I get it, satire, it's all fun in jokes right??? WRONG! Fox needs to issue an apology to not only the residents of Chinatown, NYC, but to all Asian Americans. Jesse Watters and his producer needs to be fired immediately.
I’m an African-American from Louisiana and I am literally angered by this. This is blatantly disrespectful and racist to not only Chinese people but all Asians. Making fun of people and using stereotypes and movie clips from the 1970s. I am honestly shocked that this video was made in 2016 and put on national television. This was fine in “good fun” most of Fox’s viewer do not have any interaction with Asian people and for a lot of them they will believe all the Asian people are dumb and don’t really know anything about politics.
Maybe Asian are used to be mocked here and there. We just don't give stupid people our attention. But this guy is stepping over the line when he interviewed that old lady. That's just pure evil.
Jojo L It made me very sick watching that. When I visited China the people were incredibly understanding of the fact that I spoke very little Mandarin. They were patient and tried to help me, despite that it was inconvenient to them, and I’m very grateful for that. No matter what language you speak we are all human, we should treat people with respect.
As aN asian, can confirm. There is no difference between karate taekwondo and kungfu. In fact all asians are actually clones produced by the chinese government.
@@techhelpportalextras3007 wanna know Mexico people's thoughts, and go to Taco Bell. I believe this could happen bcz it's America, not anywhere else of this world : )
To all the people defending this bullshit: You do understand that the outrage from this isn't out of being offended by racist jokes and stereotypes, right? We're pissed because there's ALWAYS a time and place for racial comedy, but that time and place isn't during a legitimate news broadcast while people, who aren't in on the joke, are being made fun of. Plus, this segment will definitely resonate with bigots who genuinely have these perspectives about Chinese/Asian people. And yes, they exist and those feelings are quite prevalent, contrary to your "racism doesn't exist!!!" drivel. This isn't about being PC. This is about being responsible by acknowledging that the "jokes" in this segment are legitimate feelings people have towards the Chinese and other Asians, which is why they shouldn't be normalized via a relevant news platform like Fox. This wasn't a cleverly written or intelligently thought anti-PC argument. If you want that, then refer to Patrice O'Neal, Bill Maher, Louis CK, Jim Norton, or George Carlin. This, on the other hand, was trash low brow comedy that appeals to the humor of a 12 year old schoolyard bully.
"You do understand that the outrage from this isn't out of being offended by racist jokes and stereotypes, right?" Yes it is, with the proviso that there were none on display in this video.
avicenna 1) I meant that a lot of the outrage isn't coming strictly from the fact that offensive jokes were told, but more so from the fact that the jokes were coming from a news platform. 2) Yeah, there were jokes told and stereotypes portrayed in here. "Am I supposed to bow when I say hello?" "Is it the year of the dragon?" Play-fighting martial arts teacher. Getting a massage from the woman. Those are jokes and stereotypes.
I am Chinese and I found it balanced. At first, I shrank back in anticipation of a poorly done representation of the Chinese. Surprisingly, the cross section of interviewees was pretty well done. The Chinese were allowed to be Chinese. The only parts that were a bit cringe worthy is where Watters does the side adventures, making himself look like a fool. Watters does not make fun of Chinese, but he does make fun of himself.
@Lambert Lum If you think that these "interviews" weren't cherry-picked to cast the Chinatown community in a negative light, then I have a bridge to sell you.
The lack of offence felt by my fellow Chinese friends, Lambert Lum and BenjaminHon86 is precisely the problem here. We Chinese are so GOD DAMN used to being emasculated, patronised and looked down upon that we just put our heads down and get on with our own lives. I'm a British born and bred Chinese, living in Hong Kong and even now, in 2016, nearly 20 years after HK has been free from English reign, Chinese people still look up to white people like they're gods causing Chinese people to be so immune to being racially abused by white people that they can't even recognise it and won't even stand up for themselves. It makes me so mad. Reminds me of a video where a white guy in Hong Kong ended up making out with a Chinese girl in front of her boyfriend and he literally just stood there waiting for it to end... Can we please grow some balls and call out racism for what it is? If this was a black neighbourhood and Watters asked "do I say hello by giving you a fist bump?" what do you think the reaction would've been?
China town is in New York, and maybe most people in there are asians, but hey, they are asian Americans. Does it make sense if the Chinese want to get some opinions about Americans so they go to McDonals in China.
That's the part I hated the most too. What if she was your grandma? He is making fun of the fact she doesn't understand English and cannot respond. It's a disrespect not only for Asians, but all immigrants in this country.
Yeah there’s an Onion skit like this… that was done before this unbelievable piece, when it was still thought to be so ludicrously exaggerated that people would see right away that it was satirical. It’s «man goes undercover in Chinatown by wearing a silk robe » or some such title.
You have a very sensitive mind. This video edited many different incidents together. He is not calling it Karate just because a previous scene mentioned Karate.
I honestly thought this was a parody until I looked at the channel name. Actually, I still might believe it's a parody if someone just claimed it is. I mean, no person in their right mind can do stuff like that seriously.
i wished it was the onion. dude looked like he was being willfully negligence with what he already stereotype about asians. not to mention his limited view of their culture & attempts to poke in political commentary from them. imagine asking an elderly the reasons to vote for trump.
Holy shit, this is the least professional, most disrespectful segment I've ever seen in 20 years of watching the news. Mocking Chinese immigrants on their inability to understand your question? Not cool. This country needs to be so much more open minded and educated.
In the early days of our country, Irish and Chinese laborers built the crucial infrastructure of railroads. Back then Irish and Chinese people were looked down on, we were outsiders, and we did dirty work like laying down railroads and digging through mountains. The only difference is that Irish people have white skin so eventually both themselves and their oppressors forgot that Irish people used to be treated this way, all was forgiven, and the rest of the white people embraced Irish people. But Chinese people didn't get the same acceptance, many of us were born here, many of us have been here for generations. Some Chinese families have been here longer than some of the white families in the mid-west--remember, we were here when the railroads were built, and a lot of the Europeans came later, and they benefited from the work we put in. Chinese Americans work hard and pay taxes, some of us serve in the military, in the police force, as school teachers and nurses, but white nationalists will never treat us like equals no matter how much we contribute. It is wrong that we don't get the same treatment as Irish people, when we started out the same. America was not built by only white people. America was built by immigrants from all nations. Current day America thrives because of hard work and innovation that is from a diverse population, not just white people. White nationalists conveniently forget and they want to say this nation belongs to them, when they have always benefited from the hard work of multiple ethnic groups. How much longer will Chinese Americans be treated like a joke? To up with bullies on Fox news?
As a white American, my heart goes out to ya'll. In recent years, I've become disillusioned. I personally support affirmative action to all marginalized groups, but none more than you guys. Just know that, while a minority, there are many white Americans on your side. Where I live, they taught us about how the Chinese and Irish built the railroads, not the whites, but it ends up being a footnote in history. I don't recall ever even going over the Chinese Exclusion Act. While it may not seem it with Trump having been elected, America's slowly becoming more progressive with us younger folk. While I don't think it's close, I firmly believe justice is on the horizon. I hope to God Almighty you will be alive for the vindication. I sincerely apologize for this long, rambling polemic, but this sort of thing really makes my blood boil.
they confuse me so much, i honestly do not get it and it pisses me off, how is interrupting a broadcast every few seconds to show a movie clip no one knows a thing that's supposed to be funny
Logic Time What was spicy? Also uptight? HAHAHAHAHA I laugh at dead baby jokes. I have a very loose range of comedy, this falls nowhere near anything that can resemble comedy.
Dude wtf - even it weren't racist it would be so bad. This guy thinks he's so funny while everyone else is able to think of those kind of jokes but everyone knows they're completely amateur jokes and we don't bother saying them.
Not that it's ever meaningful to bash spelling on RUclips unless someone is actively making fun of someone else for bad grammar BUT which words do you want me to spell more correctly, smart one?
Satire is best practiced by those who know how to do it right. Satire is meant to make fun of someone because of his action and thoughts that are ludicrous. It is meant to make fun of the elite and powerful who act foolishly so to bring them down a notch from their high horse and ivory tower. It is meant for those who are stupid but think they are smart, poor but think they are well-off, morally depraved but think they are righteous. If someone is basically a caricature through his own volition, he is ripe for satire. Making fun of people just for their looks and race or the unfortunate circumstance that they find themselves in is not satire, it's racist and offensive. Comedians can be politically incorrect and still be funny. This Watters guy should follow the footsteps of George Carlin instead of being lazy and go for the cheap shots stereotypes. Why is it so hard for right-wingers to be funny? Well, 10 years from now when most of the typical Foxnews viewers will have died off from old age, a new generation of Conservative viewers, while politically agreeing with Foxnews, but having growing up in a more racially diverse society, will cringe at this bit. It's no different than people today overwhelmingly cringe at minstrel shows of the past.
I think you're really onto something. We've all seen shows where camera crews go to downtown LA and ask Americans questions like "Who is the Vice President?" or "What is the capital of the US?" so we can laugh at the people who don't know the answers, but the people doing the reporting are also American and the takeaway is, ultimately, "We're all screwed." Republicans, especially lately, have been accused of xenophobia and jingoism to such an extent that when they make fun of a foreign culture, it seems cheap, almost cruel.
People take themselves way too seriously, it's a joke, he went to ChinaTown...and most of the late night TV shows are terrible and not funny anymore -- Jay Leno was the last late night host who was funny, he made fun of people...Chris Rock and George Carlin both made their money off funny racial commentary, but it's all in good fun...people need to get over it and realize they aren't that important....Hollywood tries to make every white male in their scripts look dumb and stupid...I don't get bent over it...people need to get over it, get over themselves
What's the joke here John? Let me go to chinatown ask people about the election and make fun of them and their culture? Is that it? And if you thought Jay Leno was funny, you have no business even commenting on the subject.
@I Want To he is literally making fun of Chinese people, asking elderly Asians questions in English while knowing they can’t speak English, and just stereotyping the Asian community. If that’s not racist I don’t know what is
@I Want To no, thank at’s not what I mean. The reporter is specifically targeting because they are Asian, elderly, and can’t speak English. Most white Americans have the ability to speak English and learned the states and cities in school. Also, how are white people oppressed? They have the privileges and everything.
Lets just call it for what it is...a white guy being racist towards Asian-American grandmas. This isn't funny, if someone mocks your grandma like this, would you laugh?
I am Chinese and did not find any offence. There is certainly a language barrier, and some awkwardness. No one is mocking the elders. Indeed, at the end of the segment Watters comments on the politeness of the elders.
I'm Chinese and I exactly felt like he was insulting my grandma and grandpa, acting like the fact they didn't understand English or want to talk to him was because they're stupid. Also why should they move just because some shitty pseudojournalist shoves a mic in their face? You move, fucker.
Well, I am Chinese and I was offended. True, there was language barrier, which should also be apparent to Watters. If he genuinely wanted a Chinese American's opinion, he should have made some effort into doing it the right way-either bring a translator or ask those who can communicate in English. Instead, he picked many who obviously couldn't communicate in English effectively and had them being the representative of Chinese American and Chinese. (And by the way, many of those interviewed seemed like they were born here or had been living here most of their lives, how were they asked to tell the Chinese government to do something about North Korea and being commented as outsiders of American politic?) His attempt to mock the Chinese American community was obvious and that wasn't harmless fun. It was distasteful.
My wife is Filipina and I have to say this was disgusting. I say this as someone KNOWN for making off the wall comments to take everyone a back. This was racism at its very core.
'Speak! Speak Why don't you speak', quote from young Frankenstein, that's mocking the elders right there, They used the quote in a condescending manner to put emphasis on the fact that they don't understand/speak English. And that last part is also another way to say 'look! look at THEM! They are so cute, and polite, they don't even talk back or stand up for themselves, even when they are being made fun of'
I don't know who this is more insulting toward: it portrays white people as severely ignorant (most I know don't act this way) and the Chinese people as exotic animals being visited in their habitat.
n They show a white guy acting like he believes every stereotype he's ever heard about Asian people, intercut with movies that purport those stereotypes. It's like they're saying everything white people know about the Chinese are from these cheesy Hollywood films, meaning that they are not only uneducated but also dumb. Of course that's not true. If I was a white person I would be offended by this clip making a mockery of my race's stereotype of being self-absorbed and ignorant toward other cultures. White people these days are way more educated and aware and most of them treat minorities no different than people of their own race.
Exactly. The moment RUclips announced that my immediate thought was this video. Poor decision from RUclips in removing all public dislikes. Now these kind of videos can thrive with no shame.
It's like you wanna know what do Americans think of Chinese politics in China and you send a Chinese reporter to McDonald then ask the American who don't speak Chinese about their opinion in Chinese. Bravo! 😀
bud389 not in Western town. 😂 All jokes aside , there are such things in every Asian country. They call them ex pat villages. The US is a melting pot but Asia is not.
My God. There are literally no words. I think they actually didn't realize that most of their references were to Japanese cultural stereotypes. This is a new level of ignorance. Insulting a culture with stereotypes from an ENTIRELY different culture. Next, they're going to ask ultra-orthodox Jews why they aren't wearing their lederhosen. This is literally the definition of casual racism.
@L333gok there's nothing wrong with bullies, I was bullying your mom around in bed last night and she was loooooving it. The noises she was making....mmmmm
It's true that Fox News, between Watters' World and Red Eye, had funnier original programming a few years back than Comedy Central ever did. Unfortunately, Fox News has gone downhill with its creativity without Roger Ailes and Bill O'Reilly, who were both true television geniuses.
wow. I'm married to an Asian man. I love and appreciate the Asian community. The same community you just tried to make a mockery out of. I was raised in Chinatown. the people there deserve more respect than you gave them. they are intelligent people. They are successful. They are entrepreneurs. They create jobs. They are teachers. They have done so much. They also helped build the US. really... show some damn respect.
Max, I dunno what to tell ya. I hope your question is coming out of curiosity as a kid, otherwise it'll sound awfully ignorant as an adult. If you brush up on history you'll know that there's a good reason for the existence of Little Italy, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, Koreatown, and other small culture-centered communities in large cities.
@I Want To I’m Asian and it’s not about being ‘offended’, it’s about being disrespected. If someone did this with black people they’d be criticised for it and it would be correct for them to be criticised. If we allow Asians to be disrespected like this then people wouldn’t respect Asian people as much.
At 2:22, Watters asked the Chinese Herb store owner's son if they have any "Chinese herbs for performance". Yes, he admitted he really needs help in his performance.

I feel like this guy, Watters, probably has a few sealed court records from his time on the highschool water polo team...
If this was reversed to be Chinese People interviewing white people on the upper east side with music from 'The Odd Couple' would that be racist too? You know why it wouldn't be; because there's nothing inherently racist about stereotypes in and of themselves. Stop virtue signaling, it's tiring and nobody needs it.
using pat morita's character may be wrong because the point of this video is about chinese people but theres nothing by the definition of racism that is racist about this video. I can see why people are upset bc it just plays on stereotypes..but that's it there really is no evidence of actual racism
And what a douchebag. He insults their culture and then pays them to take care of him. Meanwhile, look how easy it is for a reporter to go to a Trump rally and talk to a Trump voter doesn't even realize Obama wasn't president during 9/11.
It's funny because last year, me and my girlfriend were having dinner with her co-worker and his brother and I mentioned I lived in Hong Kong and the brother asked "So do you know Japanese?" I was so relieved that my girlfriend and her co-worker had the same reaction that I had, which was "Whaaaaat?" I always thought it was a meme ripping on American's ignorance of geography but I was glad there were witnesses too.
I especially like that one segment where he's clearly at like a tae kwan do place, since there's a KOREAN FLAG behind him the entire time. Not even hidden, just plainly there. At that point I couldn't even tell if the video editors/cameraman were intentionally fucking with Watters and giggling behind the scene. This video is funny in like all the ways Watters never intended. It feels like a parody video.
I’ve hosted Chinese exchange students (2) and I have to say they where some of the kindest, hardworking, intelligent and downright funniest people I’ve ever met. They cooked a traditional meal for me and my family every other week (so freaking good). They told us about their culture and their lives. We shared our home and our hearts with them and I’ve made two amazing friends because of that. We don’t talk as much lately and it doesn’t matter that they’re on the other side of the world if they ever want to come back and visit they ALWAYS have a place to stay. I don’t care what Fox shows me because I know the truth about this incredible and captivating culture.
Ryan Starz I’ve been to a bunch of blm matter marches recently and donated to charities bailing out the protestors and fighting mass incarceration. Black isn’t the only race that’s been treated poorly. Native Americans where slaughtered Chinese where treated like second class citizens back in the beginning of this country. This video doesn’t involve that subject so I didn’t mention it. I made a comment on the video pertaining to the gross racism I saw about the Asian community a year ago. I would defend any race but this was for them because it was discriminating them.

It's okay, just adopt my philosophy. There is no American. There is no Britain. There is no France, China, Russia, Israel, Turkey, Australia, Germany, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Cuba, Sudan, Sweden, Czech Republic, etc. My race is human, my nationality is planet Earth.
I am a Trump supporter and 1st Generation Chinese-American. My parents are from China. It seems many that were interviewed that were older may not have understood or spoke English fluently and many of them spoke the Cantonese dialect that is more common in Southern China, certain parts of Southeast Asia, and Hong Kong to give a clearer scenario of NYC Chinatown which Jesse interviewed. Flushing Queens NY which has a very large Chinese population has more Mandarin speaking that may come from more northern parts of China such as Shanghai and other parts of Southeast Asia such as but not limited to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam etc etc and even then both Mandarin and Cantonese dialects are spoken widely in some of these countries by the Chinese living in them. Chinese are very varied in choices of political parties and you will find both Dems and Republicans. As for martial arts, Jesse should have referred to Kung Fu which is generally Chinese martial arts. Karate is Japanese Martial Arts although Chinese has practitioners in both arts. I find that even though i have friends both either supporting Clinton or Trump, we seldom fight and agree to disagree on our choices. I have left out certain Chinese groups only due to size of this reply and is not intentional to single any Chinese group out so therefore, my apologies.
Went to a community in New York to sample the opinion of Chinese? As a foreigner I really feel amused about these people making fun of their own citizen. You Americans will have such a bright future with racism.
Yiteng Tian that's very interesting, i was once called a Canadian in New York and New Jersey because of my accent. Most people in major cities can't tell who is and isn't a citizen.

Reading a lot of these comments. I think it's really sad to see Asian people (at least they claim to be) feeling like this is not a big deal. Yes we should assimilate, yes we should be supportive of our country, yes this was meant to be a "joke". But think about it from more than just that one perspective. First of all no matter what you do and no matter how hard you try, you can never truly assimilate. Your culture whether you're Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese etc.. will always be part of who you are and you should be proud of that. You also can't fully assimilate because the country that you love and support will never allow you to fully assimilate. They will always have that Asian stereotype of you knowing karate, are great at math, submissive, and push overs and can never be anything more than that Chinese person in the eyes of most Americans (Chinese because they don't care to think about the possibility of you being an Asian that's not Chinese) Imagine if they did they in the black community? Or the Hispanic community? They wouldn't be able to get away with it because there are far more proud black and Hispanic people that they would EASILY reverse this situation and made sure these ignoramuses get put in their place. But you see in comments here that to quite a bit of Asian Americans you can't be Asian American and proud of your heritage and it's quite the damn shame. And for the people who are claiming pride over their political parties whether you're republican or democrats? Being in a political party does not come first, You've been split up and forced to argue ideals with each other distracting you from making progress with one another. It's OK for you all to have an opinion, but not at the cost of your dignity and moral values. These days being a republican or democrat means you're just a loud and obnoxious stubborn fool who can't get over the fact that things don't go your way.
you make a very important point in the first line "At least they claim to be". These trolls use whatever identity they think will best allow them to irritate and annoy. Their identity is merely an avatar switch away from being whatever makes their trolling most effective, and as such many many statements that start with "I'm [blank] and I'm [troll statement]" are a load of hooey.
George B I really wish that were truly the case 100% but some of these people who comment, if you look into their profile they are active, they have their social media on their descriptions and are indeed asian. There are obviously trolls, I just disregard them but if you really look and do a bit of profile stalking you will see that they are asian.
Being half Asian second generation, I don't really feel like I belong to either culture. I have no connection to this Chinese culture that I should be so proud of, but for other Americans I'm still an other. From this limbo of imperfect assimilation, I don't see pride in a culture or ideology I was born into as more valuable than the beliefs I've cultivated for myself. So when I say fuck this racist O'Reilly program, that's not because I'm Asian, but because anyone can see how stupid and racist it is.
Came here from the daily show. Thought it wasn’t possible all the racism wasn’t added by the daily show for comedic effect but unsurprisingly I was wrong
To all the closet racists and Uncle Chans defending this video -- this cringeworthy clip serves absolutely no purpose other than to utilize the interviewees as props to promote the segment's agenda of getting a cheap laugh. Fox could have approached perfectly fine English speakers that are Chinese-American to intelligently comment on the Trump situation, but clearly the selected victims were used and edited into a manner that perpetuates the xenophobic stereotypes of Asians. I am fine with comedy that utilize cultural differences for a tasteful laugh (e.g., Russell Peters), which actually enlightens and strengthens the charm of such differences in this melting pot of America -- but in this case, Fox News, learn to write better comedy without blatantly offending a race.
Indeed. I certainly can't see Watters going to Amish country and engaging in stereotypes like this, playing off accents, and all the rest. Instead, that'd be completely respectful. Likewise if he went to South Boston, South Philly, etc. etc. It's all because they aren't white, otherwise there'd be no stereotypes involved.
I've seen the other ones. I don't think I remember him asking an Irish AMERICAN if he just had a pint of Guinness before the interview. Was there one where he asks an African AMERICAN person if he loves watermelon? Certainly he asked an Italian AMERICAN if his arms are so big from tossing a pizza wait wait he must have told him to leave the gun and take the cannoli. Did he ask Latino AMERICANS for their papers or where the closest orange farm is in NYC. I missed have missed all those videos where what he said was racial.
It's sad how people can not see this is degrading to a race, culture and even gender. We live in the 21st century can we not move past these differences especially on tv for the public to see and become influenced on
Here's my theory. Fox is actually trying to become a comedy channel. They started it by doing the greatest joke, which is supporting Trump. They thought that surely their audience will know it's a joke, it's Trump. But audiences took them so seriously they thought "shit just got real". So they need to come up with gigs like this to make it obvious to their audience that they are a comedy channel.
FNC isn't "trying to become a comedy channel," they're "news entertainment" in the same way that WWE is "sports entertainment." WWE isn't sports, and FNC isn't news. You'd be better informed about the world after watching The Onion. Fox & Friends, Red Eye, nor any other program on that network is informative. They're just a business, dispensing mind-numbing entertainment, distraction and propaganda. There's so much happening in this world, there's so much news to be reported, but FNC and Mainstream Media in general will only discuss topics of the most trivial variety, keeping you entertained enough to keep watching, and stupid enough to not understand the true nature of the world in which you reside, despite that it's so easy to learn about and to comprehend.
Bill O'riley does not support Trump , he criticizes him all the time . Not all Fox News shows support . They support the conservatives but Hannity is the only one who would die for trump. CNN could be called a comedy for worshipping Hilary Clinton

This is a perfect example of how words like "racism" are becoming less and less meaningful. It's not racist to poke fun at stereotypes. It's racist to deny services based on skin color. See the difference?
You can make a joke about a stereotype as long as the stereotype is the butt of the joke. When the actual person in front of you becomes the butt of the joke and the stereotype is your fodder, that's racist.
Yes you do. Racism does not come in the form of speech - it comes in the form of actions. This shit ain't racist, no way, no how. It's called FUNNY and I am sure that if you don't like it, you are not fun, cool, interesting or welcome at my parties.

O'Reilly actually went on to defend this skit. Saying that it wasn't until the liberals and media made it an issue was when people started to complain about it. So he basically thinks all this is acceptable.
No, he actually thinks that only after liberals and media made it an issue of it, people started to complain.

Source, please. Asians in Asia? what country? Asians here? What specific race or ethnicity?
Jesse didn't make any negative comments at all let alone something criminal like a shooting. He made a lot more mafia and other negative references when he interviewed Italian and Russian people in past segments. He does simple, harmless, schoolboy comedy. This is the kind of light reference to stereotypes that is making more fun of the stereotypes themselves than of the people.
Thank you Lambert. I thought I was the only other Chinese person that found Watters buffoonery mildly amusing. People can't take a joke nowadays and will get outraged at anything to give them some sort of cudgel to beat others over the head with.

Sorry, I'm Chinese. I can't see the negative part. I only see the Chinese part.
Well said!
You deserve a tv show more than this fucking guy (watters).

Benny He Who said I'm white?

They show a white guy acting like he believes every stereotype he's ever heard about Asian people, intercut with movies that purport those stereotypes.
I would say this is an all time low for Fox News.......but I'm sure they've done something worse

Michael Sanchez incredible write up learned up learned alot
Being half Asian second generation, I don't really feel like I belong to either culture. I have no connection to this Chinese culture that I should be so proud of, but for other Americans I'm still an other. From this limbo of imperfect assimilation, I don't see pride in a culture or ideology I was born into as more valuable than the beliefs I've cultivated for myself. So when I say fuck this racist O'Reilly program, that's not because I'm Asian, but because anyone can see how stupid and racist it is.

China isn't a race. China is a massive mountainous multi ethnic and multi racial country home to many languages.

Did he ask Latino AMERICANS for their papers or where the closest orange farm is in NYC. I missed have missed all those videos where what he said was racial.
It's sad how people can not see this is degrading to a race, culture and even gender. We live in the 21st century can we not move past these differences especially on tv for the public to see and become influenced on
its clearly showing people for what they are - any and all people who are in the video
how this was somehow allowed on air is actually wild
