【English translation】
Hello, Wajima Shinji, vocalist and guitarist of Ningen Isu.
We take pride in creating our great new album "New Youth" . It is freshness, energetic and worthy of 30th anniversary.
In addition, we created " Heartless Scat" music video from the album and uploaded it to RUclips. It has already got about 170,000 or 180,000 views. I'm grateful all the people watching this video and will watch it in the future.
We usually create one music video every album, but we've never had such a video which has a great start. We thank you from bottom of our hearts.
It's getting more views steadily still now. In commemoration of this, we create "Reaction" movie. In this movie, the members of Ningen Isu all are going to express our feelings about the video "Heartless Scat" , each to our own.
Then, let's try the first, me, Wajima.
I'm a beginner so I wonder if I can do it well...
It's so odd watching "Heartless Scat" video in which I appear in.
I might gaze and gaze, anyway, I'll try it now!
Let me see... Here is the start button.
Oh, you know, I'm already quiet! Hehehe…
I like this display of the title. We shoot it in a forest of a certain Japanese garden.
This scene which I play the guitar on the rock was not written in the scenario, but the location's antique ambience was very suit for the view of the world of "Heartless Scat" so we determined shooting the scene there on that day.
The music goes on. In the forest, there is a walking man. Dora appears.
We shot this video at Oarai sea shore in Ibaraki prefecture.
For shooting morning scene, we got together in Oarai sea shore about 4:00 a.m. Each of us meet at the destination because no one knows how to go there.
I'm a night-owl and I thought it is difficult for me to get up early and go there, so I went there before the day and spent the night in the car.

If you, Holy Angels, do exist in this universe...Ah! now the part " Tenshi ga", I sing with a provincial accent "Tensu ga". It's a Tsugaru dialect. I think again that I was born in Hirosaki in Aomori prefecture.
As I was saying earlier, I spent the night in the car before the shooting day. I fell asleep around 0:00 a.m.
However, suddenly hearing very loud blast "Buuuuuuun" and I jumped out of bed. The identity of the sound is motorcycle gangs! There is the sea shore so Ibaraki motorcycle gangs ran at a lightning speed!
After a while, they ran away and I thought I can sleep again, but they were coming back again!!! In fact, they go around there again and again and again... Because of the noisy sound, I was sleep deprived at the day.
The garden again, and next sea shore...
Every member prepared for this shooting. Especially I ordered this Wafuku for our new album "New Youth" and its’ debut in this video.
My favorite point of this Wafuku, a part of sleeves is sewed red netlike, do you see it?
It's not a usual Wafuku style, so I took in advice of Gofuku-ya(Kimono shop) and ordered it.
The reason why the red coloring of parts is being great for the color display and make it look so cool.
Its’ main color is Wakakusa color (grass green)which is my favorit color, and sometimes you can see other red parts of it.
The custom-made Kimono is so great because I can be particular about it to the detail.
Then, I have to talk about this song.
Oh! This scene is shot by drone!
This is the first time we attempt to use the drone.
Yes, from here, the tune changes.
"Countless stars are twinkling in the sky..."
So...he scats "Shabadabadia" in 1st verse and 2nd verse, it expresses I wanna be happy too. These verses claim his feelings of pain from individualistic point of view. However, from the middle part, His mental horizon becomes wide like " with a thousand wishes in each heart". He realizes that he must not think about himself. This is a really mellow part.
Oh, this Suzuki-kun scene is really nice.
The scene of guitar solo, this is pantomimic, but it looks real performance. We played "Heartless Scat" for the first time since we record it, so I couldn't remember catches of a song. We retook it again and again, and it was complete. In fact, I recall its riff and play it at the same time.
Yes, did you see a knot of my Hakama? I think this kind of detail is one of the charm points of Wafuku.
You'll see a cross shaped knot, right?
I do tie it only to be cool. Actually, it's okay if I tie it like bowknot, but only to make a stylish appearance, I don't do that purposely.
I wanna call this Japanese sense of beauty. It is definitely not efficient, but there is aesthetic sense. In my opinion, Kimono is not for efficient, but it’s for showing off great. Therefore, it is very uncomfortable to move around in and it is not practical.
“Shabadabadia Shabadabadia…”
This scene is also nice. The drums set is glowing with the indescribable…old-fashioned building.
Now, all members come on foot.
And then, The protagonist was selfish in 1st verse and 2nd verse, in middle part, he realizes the importance of others’ happiness. In 3rd verse, he naturally desires his happiness, but at the same time, he wishes others’ happiness. He thinks that others’ happiness makes his happiness, and it is expressed in 4 lines lyrics.

From here, it is the night scene, so this music video shoots a day from morning to night in Ibaraki prefecture. Now, I play the guitar in the morning scenery of Oarai sea shore. To tell the truth, this day is sooooooooooo cold!!! We shot this video at the sea shore and there is nothing shut out the wind. A very strong wind blows, so very really cold. I cannot play the guitar well because my muscles were stiff and cramped. I was worried about my solo performance, but it looks no problem. I’m relieved.
The riff, employing slide playing technique with 6strings of “Heartless Scat” is the key point.
In the ending part, I do it again and again and again, and finish with the lowest sound.
Appearing “Tokuma Japan Communications”, and done to perfection.
This song scale is over 8 minutes, so I worry about if I will be able to last my talking, but it was unfounded. Really fantastic song! HAHAHA.

For a lot of people, I think there's a natural progression from being more selfish in youth and disillusioned that life doesn't cater to your desires, then gradually maturing to have a broader view and learning to find happiness from helping others. Some people are fortunate to come to that realization earlier, but from my personal experience and many others I've heard from, it's very common to experience this change around the 45 to 55 age range. I wonder if Wajima wrote this out of a similar experience.

These videos are the first I've seen of a band reacting to their own music video, but it's fine with me because it helps me get to know the band members as people not just as musicians, and their perspective on the video is interesting. I ( and the members of my band) are extremly right, when we say "you are really explosive great". - i like the composing of your songs, because it remebers me to our songs - extremely mix of speed and rythm, the different moods and the length of the songs - with one word "PERFECT" composing (...and acting in the videos - Mr. Suzuki: you are not bland in "heratless scat" - you look acting the hole time ;-) - i know because i´m also bassplayer in our metalband and in the same age like Wajima - only 3 month older ;-))) ) - otherwise i also could be just good cutting of the video ;-)) - also many thanks to your video company TJC: very very nice produced videos
