My personal strategy has been Roth 401k up to the match and ploughing the rest of the savings towards taxable brokerage and Rental properties. It probably is tax inefficient but gives more flexibility. Glad to hear Scott’s plan is similar which sort of validates my thinking 😊. Absolutely loved the show!!
When I went to buy my first house the realtor took me to the bank whose office adjoined theirs. That banker then walked me through the whole loan application process and wanted to pre-approve me for a $350K loan, when I was planning on only spending around $100K. I hadn't just pulled that number out of a hat either, I had looked at loan rates and payment calculators and knew that was what I could comfortably afford, as an E-4 in 2005. If I had gone and bought a house at the limits of what they would have approved I'd have probably starved to death.
I like this guy and I started following him. I personally love my 401k pretax. I’m currently solidly in the 24% tax bracket. I’m 4 years from retirement and will be in the 12% tax bracket when I retire at 55. It works out for me but my income will be less when I retire obviously. Other people may have a higher income at retirement so their way makes sense for them. 👍🏽
6500 cc debt is average?! Id be freaking out what the heck. Also have the same shoes for 5 years or so and the toes poke out, so I can relate to Jaspreet at that point😂
Thank you for having me on! What a fun podcast - you guys are doing great work
