So impressive seeing young blokes like this in modern times performing blues like this. This sparks imagery of a 1930's old wooden bijou blues den belting out musical porn.
@420sabastian420 she said they were a MIXTURE of country, blues gospel & pop... which is a pretty fair description of their sound. a lot of their vocal melodies have a "pop" influence... just because they have pop influences doesn't make them a sellout.
@DodjeeBarry and you get the award for most ignorant post for this video. Henry Rollins, from Black Flag and the Henry Rollins Band, is well educated, well versed, and as passionate and eloquent a speaker as you'll find. He's truly got it going on between the ears.
When they first dropped howl I wasn't keen. I waa a huge fan of their first 2 albums. Still saw them on this tour and they were amazing. But now it's my favourire BRMC album by a long way. Great music!
@420sabastian420 i don't want to sound brash but rock and roll was 'pop' in the 60's because it is 'popular'. It still is frequently referred to as 'pop' in many countries so by calling it 'pop' its not referring to shitty back street boys material its simply apart of 'pop culture'
Howl was a really great album. It's a shame it doesn't get the credit it deserves. Now on the other hand Beat The Devil's Tattoo is probably my least favorite album by them. I kinda got lost in the direction of the album.
They do have pop elements to them. I don't think there's anything wrong with mentioning that. Although she could have also thrown Rock N' Roll in there as well.
@420sabastian420 elements of pop. the beatles were pop. just because there is some pop blended into the music doesn't mean its ke$ha. if someone called brmc a rock band would you say that they weren't nickelback?
Music is generally (by people who know what they're talking about) seperated into three catagories; pop, classical and world music. So YES, it is pop. Stop calling that woman a bitch. Besides, even if we didn't use such broad catagories - it would still be described as pop. Where do you find BRMC CDs when you go to your record store? Almost every song is in 4/4 time signature and almost every song uses guitars, bass and drums. It's hardly avant-garde, esoteric pieces we're looking at here.
Though I don't think she should have said it...perhaps throwing "pop" into the mix of genre descriptions was to give a nod to how catchy their songs can be. However, as far as them being traditional "pop"....they are pretty fucking far from that.
beatles are also often called a „pop band“.. genres are just a try to fit styles into a drawer but good music is unique and does not fit a particular „genre“ imo there should be no genres, people should just listen to what they think is good, also I am glad that people have a different tast, otherwise it would be pretty boring
Nope dude . This old blues rock genre with elements of blues, soul ,gospel, Psychedelic Rock, and alternative rock + rockabilly sound. Even the band is not mainstream.
Guys, if you have the chance to see them live, go and do it, don't hesitate. They are mind blowing!
I've gotten to see them twice. Once in San Diego and again in Salt Lake City.
Seen them 3 times , once was on this tour. Absolutely amazing band!

Okay, dude it's not a competition 😂
Howl is such a awesome album... Still listen to it almost everyday!
Saw them on the Howl tour in a small club , best gig I'd seen in a long time, excellent .
Such a great live band!
Seriously a breath of fresh air in music today
Still feeds my lungs
Am I the only one hearing Johnny Cash, these guys are so fucking good. If they ever get to mainstream Im sure it would be ruined.
incredible...Peter Hayes is the man
Saw them open for The Cult in Chicago blew me away The drummer out of control drives the band
Damn they sound so good live!
best band of the world :) thank you Henry ;)
Great song and rendition but that cut at the end will never not annoy me
I love the vibe between Henry and Heidi.

All music should sound like this.
This is what we need more of !
If only I could play the guitar like that...

I think they call this music, and not many can claim that word..., killer shit.
@vevomembersiwilleat Metal, punk and rap are all pop music. No, I don't try to pass myself off as a pro but I do have a degree in the subject.

Oh Peter, marry me
@420sabastian420
In context, it is pop music.
do anyone know which turning robert is using?
or has anyone the tabs for this??

@CapoSiix Sorry, which one is the lead singer? They sing both...Robert has a Gibson ES-125 and Peter also Gibson ES 335 or something.
Beat The Devil's Tattoo!!! ya ya ya ya!!!
Dudes, check out Casper & The Howling, great new similar band just making it big in Britain.
10 years later and I never heard anything by them.
Do somebody know what guitar brand does Robert Been use?
Gibson J45!
um ... actually i'm pretty sure that's a gibson es 125 :D
how do they get that effect on the vocals?
It's their voices

since when is pop even a genre? doesn't it just mean popular?

where is the bass. Or is there none
There's none.
F3ldman Robert plays bass and guitar mostly, he's also the lead singer for some of their songs, usually switches between peter and rob
@Superstar7 It is. The Beatles were pop, Bob Dylan was pop, Paul Simon is pop. Just because BRMC aren't mainstream it doesn't mean they aren't pop.
