Another astonishing custom. I said it for Raph and I'll say it again. This is how live action TMNT should look. My favorite turtle was always Leo closely followed by Raph and they look sick together. Really great job . I've just got into kitbashing and was wondering if there's any tips on finding the right figures to suit a custom you have in mind ,I don't have a fodder collection yet so have to buy specific body's or heads that 1 will fit the build style/clothing and 2 will be the right scale . Thanks if you are able to answer, either way keep doing great content I really enjoy it and it is in part responsible for my new found hobby 👍 .
Thanks dude, (and sorry!) haha. I think the only way to know which figures are best for the base of a custom is to really just familiarize yourself with what's out there. Sometimes I won't necessarily be thinking of a custom, but then I'll see a figure and realize it could be a really good base for a specific character. A good place to start is to figure out which line of figures you like the best (Mezco, Hasbro 6", Mcfarlane 7", Neca 7", etc) and stay within that as best you can. That way your scaling stays consistent, you have one line to familiarize yourself with, and you have a better idea of what it would cost you to make them based on which figure you might need to buy. Hope that's helpful!
@@Ibrahim_M Thanks for taking time to answer .most customizers take one six pack buff super hero and convert it into another but I want to recreate regular people from movies I like , not costumed heroes so I'm having problems finding body's with regular physique or dad bods 😂 and that seems harder to find so seeing your knight rider hasselhoff in particular made me think it's possible ,I guess the soft goods route covers the body's enough to use almost anything. Thanks again.
@@sdmcustoms haha, dude, YES. That’s exactly how I feel. Yeah, if you’re looking to make more realistic stuff, soft goods over slim bodies is an excellent way to go. The bodies can be hard to track down- it’s weird. They’re either incredibly scarce, or incredibly abundant. Marvel legends are also great for the kind of customs we’re talking about because they make a ton of movie stuff, so you have a lot of actors to choose from and a lot of figures in regular clothes, and you can buy like 5-10 legends for what it costs ti make one soft goods figure, haha. And you’re welcome!
Looks great! It's your vision so I'm not telling you what to do... but I'd personally like to see Donny and Mike with the same build anesthetics but different body styles... not a criticism btw, I really liked how you built the skin on this guy and I'd like too see how it works on different body shapes👍
Thanks man. Ideally that's what I'd do, but the parts just don't exist for that, and I'm beholden to the width of these shells for the bodies regardless of the limbs I use, and these Pig arms and legs are the only ones that can clear the width of the plastron (even if I carve away at it-- it's about the length of the ballpeg that plugs into the torso) so they're always going to be similarly proportioned to this one. Otherwise I'd just have arms and legs with human proportions that won't clear the width of the shell. On Leo I did sand down his forearms quite a bit, so they're actually much slimmer than Raph's, but I forgot to mention it on camera, and it's hard to tell because of the gauntlets. I'll be doing that on the other two, but there's only so much you can remove before you hit the joints and it becomes too thin/brittle.

Yeah, I’d love to make their body types like that, as it’s my preference for them, but I’m extremely limited by the supplies. The shells and limbs leave very little room for interpretation because the limbs have to clear the width of them AND rest at the sides of the body. I made Leo a bit thinner than Raph in the limbs but it’s hard to tell because of the gauntlets. The non-human proportions of these limbs are integral to this overall turtle design, and if I use regular human version instead to make one of them shorter or smaller, they’ll have a completely different look from the others. It’s a tough nut to crack! A lot of it will have to be figured out as I go.
