I saw Orkid when we were there a few years ago. When we were dawdling after a show one of the behaviorists called her over so we could see her up close. She's a pretty girl.
15:54 I thought maybe she was just going to do four behaviors _in a row,_ but no! She bowed, waved, shot water out of her mouth and vocalized all at once. Wow. I’m usually not surprised by what these killer whales can be trained to do, but this surprised me. Fantastic.
My first and only time I went to seaworld was the summer of 89 I was 8 and I remember the popularity of baby shamu. Very heartwarming to see in this video that orkid is still alive, I do not condone her captivity, she should be sent to a sanctuary. Thank you for uploading this video, bringing back lots of memories:-)
Her father dies at 3 days, thats how she got her name. ‘Orky’s Kid’. Then her mother bled to death infront of her. The she was at the gate when splash died, forced to go in the med as dead sumar was pulled away from her. Later she was at the gate when kasatka was euthanized. ;-;
Wow I didn't know Splash died 😮 😮 Aww poor Orkid but she still has Corky, Corky been like the God Mother to the whales who lost their parents I love her too
she currently is also seeing the fact that these trainers no nothen about Orcas is even more sad but at the same time she also lost her mom dad and even some of her friends has died. I'm just gonna pretty much see what it takes to get these Orcas out of sea world
@@LovelyLilDevilWings just from what I know of when Orcas are born they stay with their pod they don't leave there mom and they stay with the pod that they were born in. they have 2 brains and they feel just as much of emotions they are also like us in a way but their brains are so big they can sleep with 1 eye open as the other side shuts off for them to sleep and swim at the same time but if they were to be removed from their pod they get heavily depressed and tend to commit suicide or hurt people they also have killed people or injured people as well like Orkid she lost her mom dad and friends she still has Corky to but when she's paired with other Orcas she attacks them instead out of frustration and is pretty much tired of being in a tank you can see she doesn't even have her front teeth mainly from chewing on the concrete walls so tell me this is this really a good incitement for Orcas to stay behind concrete walls or is it better for them to be left in the ocean where they belong if you say they belong in sea parks then try being locked in a prison cell for 35 years and see how it feels to be an orca in a tank
Let orkid free you made her or he as a slave orkid deserve to be free if you don’t do it it in the the future the people wants to let her free would make proof to let the police and fbi to investigate and shut it down
He don't even know Orkid at all or her history or relationship with the other whales. You don't work with her everyday and she has never seen the ocean before. And maybe she doesn't want you to free her in the ocean. You can't force the orcas to do anything. So leave Orkid and her family alone.

@@disneywish0014 Orkid is happy and safe. Yes she is effected by the loss of her friends and family. Besides we Don't know of if Orkid even met Orky 2. Orkid has her adopted mother Corky. Her friends Shouka, Kalia, Ikaika, Keet, Nakai, and Makani. She also has her trainers and vets as companionship and family.

She watched her mum bleed to death and her dad died a couple days after she was born

sanctuaries are a bad idea for many reasons. she is happy and healthy at seaworld! :)

The sad thing is that her mom died and her dad. Plus her friend splash died.

They cannot go free to the wild. It's stressful for the animals. You can't make the animals do anything at all!!
They can always be released to a sea side sanctuary. They already have them for belugas and dolphins, so orcas shouldnt be that big of a problem.
