He is second to none when it comes to ballads and the flawlessness of his live vocals. He has the ability to tear your heart out even if you don't understand the lyrics. He has the conviction, the range, the sensitivity etc and still sings like this despite vocal nodules. He debuted in 1999 and I hope he sticks around for a lot longer.

I have heard this song performed by other singers on talent shows in the past years but nvr knew the title or original artist 🥲 It was only when the main vocalist of my fav kpop grp, Choi Jongho of Ateez, covered it last year that I was introduced to the amazing Park Hyo Shin. Park HYO SHIN’s earlier work was very much R&B. At some point he changed his style, but there is no doubt that the soul remained. He is poetic and meaningful. He often cries at the end of this song. And yes, his voice is perfection! I love him so much! He literarily feeds my soul.
Just a little note about his name: it is pronounced “Pahk”. If you see the version of this where he performed live on Yu Huiyeol’s Sketchbook (wearing a blue suit with white butterflies on it) watch it. Magnificent. The audience doesn’t breathe while he sings. My favorite singer in the world. ❤

I attended his Lovers Concert in Seoul in 2019. Hyo Shin is such a great live performer. He is also a Broadway Performer and is a icon in South Korea.

I have heard this song performed by other singers on talent shows in the past years but nvr knew the title or original artist 🥲 It was only when the main vocalist of my fav kpop grp, Choi Jongho of Ateez, covered it last year that I was introduced to the amazing Park Hyo Shin. Exactly the type of vocals that can sing me the phone book, the economics textbook, mathematical formulae, anything. Your description of his voice being Seal+Kenny Rogers+gospel singer is hilarious and spot on!

Park HYO SHIN’s earlier work was very much R&B. At some point he changed his style, but there is no doubt that the soul remained. He is poetic and meaningful. He often cries at the end of this song. And yes, his voice is perfection! I love him so much! He literarily feeds my soul.
Park Hyoshin is a phoenomenal vocalist, and Wild Flower is definitely one of my favourite songs of his.
Just a little note about his name: it is pronounced “Pahk”. If you see the version of this where he performed live on Yu Huiyeol’s Sketchbook (wearing a blue suit with white butterflies on it) watch it. Magnificent. The audience doesn’t breathe while he sings. My favorite singer in the world. ❤
