Thanks for the great video Ivan! A question: What is to prevent the Ethereum team from taking the EOS code and adapting it to Ethereum? Is the underlying logic of EOS incompatible in some way with Ethereum's architecture? Either way, I would expect the Ethereum team to implement functionality similar to what EOS can provide as well in the not too distant future (if they are not working on it already).
Thx Ivan! Very well done introduction to EOS. It would be great if you couln post the main links of the topic you deal with on daily basis. That would help very much. Thx again and keep going. You are doing a great jobs!
Can you make a video explaining the benefits of a dapp compared to a regular, centralized app? If you could give a realistic example of a dapp, and how it would be better than just coding it the traditional way, that would be awesome. For instance, I'm curious, when you talk about running websites on EOS, how does it handle bandwidth-intense things like streaming video?
Ivan on Tech, new subscriber here. Loving the EOS information. Count me among those who discovered Steemit and have now been blown open to the idea of the blockchain and all its potential. Thanks for your super informative video and even delivery.
Thanks Ivan. What I don't understand is that EOS is launching on the Ethereum Blockchain as an ERC- 20 token. I would have thought that it would have its own separate blockchain. Any thoughts on this?
Paul N I guess that they are probably only using the ERC-20 token for funding, and will reward the holders of these tokens with "real tokens" upon release.
Namaste Ivan, Your explanation of EOS was better than Dan Larimar's video - it made it so easy to understand what EOS is and how it will change the whole Blockchain environment. I tried looking for this same video on Steem so that I can upvote it - but couldn't find it. I have subscribed to your channel and also your Steem accout - will read all your posts, upvote and reblog. thank you so much and keep up the good work.
1st round ongoing. If people continue to buy the EOS token like at them moment the market cap will be around 700Mio Euro. Sounds completely exaggerated.
It's called Abstraction -- that is how we, the human race makes progress. We invented the wheel, then the wheelbarrow, the car...etc When we invented the plane, we did not have to invent the wheel again. We just used that 'lower level'.... and create more layers on top of the wheel...
peetcoetzee yes indeed. Think of the layers involved with a micro payment made on a Facebook game running inside a Facebook mobile app. Abstraction unlocks potential
Thank you for sharing. I have always been a fan of EOS despite all the bad reputation based on speculation. If EOS succeeds in its development i will be such a great platform for developers.
Loved the video. EOS might be the next big thing. As a developer, I tried to develop Daap but you have to calculate the price on every code. Even when you try to add two integers you're spending gas. I'm buying as much token as I can. I want to develop Daaps with low cost. :)
Hi Ivan, loved the video, especially the clarity with which you explained! I have a couple of questions though: 1. In this case of steemit on EOS, will steemit have to create it's own tokens? 2. Whatever applications I use, I will still get rewarded in tokens right, hence I will have to go to some exchange to either change it to EOS/BTC/ETH then to fiat right?
Great video explaining!! I totally see the value EOS provides. However, I have seen that they have an ERC token to fundraise their project. But it won't be built on Ethereum and they don't state that their ERC token will equate to an EOS token. Sounds like a weird fundraising mechanism
14:14 Makes no sense for me if you do not have do spend the token to get resources, because if all tokens are sold, than no more apps come in. And if the token has infinite inflation than that will generates collateral problems in the future. What do you think? And if you can please would be awesome if you put some source of your research on description.
Iván, great video, but your wrong about Steemit, actually you lose the value even if you don't lose the unit. Steem is a inflationary currency, every discovered block adds new units. So if you simply hold it and nobody speculate in the price, your share will lose value overtime.
Great channel Ivan! I think EOS is going to have a good chance becoming bigger then Ethereum, because they admit the fact that coding in general is not perfect. In case of smart contracts this is a powerfull and realistic vision. Example: A bug is detected on EOS in an smart contract, and people are hurt by this bug. The option in EOS is to review the contract by an oracle and see if it needs to be changed. All the people that have been impacted negatively are known in the blockchain. So they can choose to reverse the effects of the contract. Without having to fork the whole platform. What do you guys think?
The problem with all "global computation" schemes whether they be PoW, PoS or anything is that they necessarily require computation be expensive. Seems a bit counter trend does it not? The truth is very few application actually need to be developed and run on these type of systems.
Ivan, thanks for the great videos. I can't understand where using blockchain apps can have a real benefit other than banking- why would one prefer a social network, for example, based on EOS and not centralized? Is it for security reasons? If so - isn't it an unreal concern people are not much worried about when using something like Facebook?
So is EOS dependent on Bitshares and Steemit, or is it entirely separate? If it is separate, what is the use of Bitshares and Steemit, if EOS can do everything they can do?
Great video! I really like the analogy you made with OS. One small remark: I think the video was a bit too long for the content you gave. you often repeated things you already mentioned before. But nevertheless, great work!
What is your opinion on IPFS? I understand steemit is built using it. It has a lot of nice features that works well with blockchain that has some nice decentralized features. Does IPFS fit in anywhere with EOS?
If you have a centralized server front end wouldn't that result in having less privacy? I thought protecting your privacy was a major positive for any Dapp.
The question "Ethereum killer?" in the title is a bit cringeworthy. EOS tokens are ERC-20 compatible tokens distributed on the Ethereum blockchain. EOS can hardly be an "Ethereum killer". It depends on Ethereum for now, and the rest is vaporware.
Ivan the man. Say did you promote your live chat yesterday? I just ran into it at the end. Headed to Prague to the crypto anarchy building /Cafe. Hoping to meet some cool people there. Cheers bud
Yes, the supply of EOS released each day is keeping the price of EOS down a bit and the eventual circulating supply of 1 billion is a bit high too, but better than Ethereum which has no limit in circulating supply and costs 475 times more than EOS at present market (moments ago on 10/03/17 EOS is down to .624 cents each compared to ETH at $296.00 each) so I would much rather HODL EOS!! I am up to 2,237 EOS and could only get less than 5 ETH for the same investment. I lost a bundle when the Chinese problem drove down NEO and OMG so I must hang in there now to recoup and hope EOS will be the right vehicle. I am not concerned about the terms, conditions or token origination and exchange whatever.
Def not investing in EOS, they offer nothing more than friendlier usability, that's not enough to disrupt the dominant players. If any technology is gonna disrupt Ethereum, IOTA has the best chance, offering something different and unique
Doesn't the last part about that with Ethereum you spend ether and with EOS you just hold and get access to more resources, doesn't the Ethereum way sound better?
excellent video very informative and answered many of my questions I'm a big fan of EOS and believe it to be the key to go e Main Street with blockchain technology subscribed keep up the great work I will follow you on steemit!
Hi Ivan, I love your videos, but just wanted to broadcast my own enquiry to you - in response to 'improved blockchain protocols' (IBPs), such as EOS. My assumption is that emerging IBPs from here on - in relation to their ability to 'supersede' Ethereum in the commercial practical use space - is not likely at all, regardless of the improvements they offer. My reasoning is based on the ability of the 'Ethereum organisation/collective & partners/interests etc.' being able to copy/retro fit these IBP improvements and apply them to Ethereum through soft or hard forks in the future. I would love to here comments on what other people think of my above assumption, including yourself Ivan
Rate limiting seems like a bad idea.. it may develop into a situation similar to breaking net neutrality: established DAPPs will concentrate tokens making it exceedingly expensive for potential disruptive startups to compete, just like established internet companies can have massive economic advantages in a world without net neutrality. But the major concept is very good and reminds me of NXT/Ardor.. making it much much easier for developers to develop blockchain based applications.

H W Glascock At the start of the sale, 20% of the total minted tokens (200,000,000 EOS) will become available during a 5 day window. The remaining 800,000,000 EOS will then be split evenly into 360 one-day windows of 2,222,222.222222 EOS tokens each day. Depending how much money is put in each day the people get coin accordingly. Thanks again, Ivan. Where are you located, by the way (which country)? Any way I could get your wise counsel on an idea I had with regard to building an asset-backed crypto (but not calling it a "crypto currency") on the Ethereum or EOS platform? This would be a way to have an IPO without the dirty govt getting their sticky fingers into it as a "security", which then brings in all kinds of red tape and issues, etc. At least, here in the US it does. Anyway, feel free to email me at bendinfo(at)yandex(dot)com. :) Have a great day!
Wow !! Technology evolve so quickly it's hard to catch up now. For a moment I thought Ethereum is the king. Now it's at risk of being dethroned ? BTW can you talk about coin staking ? Is it like mining for Pos coin ? I heard if you can stake a coin you can generate interest. Is it true ?
This is just Ethereum FUD lol. Nothing will dethrone Ethereum for the next half decade. How could computing power be rewarded if there is no spending? ...doesn't make sense. Don't worry about Ethereum. It has its huge developer backing and worldwide adoption.
Yeah.. this sounds very strange.. Or is it like priority boarding.. I shoved a shitload of money into EOS and have the EOS tokens to prove it, so I get most of the power....
with Ethereum supposedly going pos (any second now...for over a year), i can't help but wonder what the motivation is left for anyone to run a node...i certainly don't bother anymore. maybe it wouldn't be bad to have a cost associated with interacting with the blockchain if it were to go to the people who keep the network healthy?
I want to clarify something. You said that EOS will make a better U/I and act as a OS such as windows. I understand that this will benefit the programers by making it EASIER to create Dapps,, but how will it benefit the users? Because users will still be able to use and interact with Dapps on etherum network, they don't care if its on EOS or ETH, users don't care if programers have hell of a time creating DApps or not. they care about what makes their life easier/better. So it reality it is only good for programers. Am i correct here? What am i missing? Thanks
this doesn't sound different than ethereum. ethereum has libraries and packages shared by the whole ecosystem. consensys' modus operandi has been creating dapp infrastructure for a long time now. any smart contract system can be used by any other in ethereum. any dapp could use uport for example. also ethereum has a unified front-end... it's called any existing front-end you want, primarily web. steemit's economics have been seriously in question for a long time. we don't want the future to look like steemit which is centrally controlled and gamed.
The biggest Ethereum enemy is the fact that it has no limitation in terms of stock ( number of Ether that can be mined ) This makes it worthless as a currency, any currency to have value needs to have a limited production. For example the number of Bitcoins that can be mined are 21 Million, or another example is the number of IOTA ( new cryptocurrency ) 2.779.530.283.277.761
meatbixist No currency in the world have unlimited supply ! Do you know why banks keep old notes when they have a new one to replace ? Yes it is to put a LIMIT on the numbers available, this is the basics of the economy, I don't want to give economy lessons here...
You are wrong justice, fiat is unlimited and has always been. Know how inflation works? Know why a chocolate bar costs 2 dollars instead of 10 cents... Yes there is a negative side effect but thats not even how eth works, its not printed in secret by bad guys. Very different than fiat...common...
Its funny you call it worthless while I sit here and make tons of currency (usd, bcoin, eth)from it ha ha Already paid myself back the "cash" i spent on my systems. Hmm...worth less... definitions.
Wow Thank you so much. Here I am thinking Ethereum is everything.. Cool to see better alternatives like this.. I'm a sucker for platform tokens like Bitcoin, ETH, GAME andd next is EOS on my list then.. There is always a demand for platforms. Steemit is cool but I don't think it'll succeed. Its not decentralized enough and people with more steem coins will curate and control everything.
Thanks for the great video Ivan! A question: What is to prevent the Ethereum team from taking the EOS code and adapting it to Ethereum? Yep. No one has never or will ever see a scam like that xD

kraken opened eos exchange
Can't believe you're also a GC fan! That is awesome!

10x life!
Wait what did I miss.. whats GC?
yasaswy nagavolu at 10:00 he talks about a business success guru he is a fan of
Ah i missed it i guess will check
things are getting overly complicated and complex. layers on layers on layers, chains on chains on chains. nobody can follow the developments anymore.
Lav Radis Ivan can and will !
Now let's talk about the layers between writing a Hello World program in Java and the output on your screen.
Lav Radis you mean YOU cant follow it anymore?

You should get a white board for the info graphs.
Hi Ivan, loved the video, especially the clarity with which you explained! I have a couple of questions though:

2. Whatever applications I use, I will still get rewarded in tokens right, hence I will have to go to some exchange to either change it to EOS/BTC/ETH then to fiat right?

Hi! block producers are getting rewarded with new tokens when a block is produced, going to be covered in part 2 :)
Great work Ivan, keep em coming!
Thanks for your informative videos! So do you think you shouldn't buy more Ether?
Great Video. Looking forward to learn more on EOS
Iván, great video, but your wrong about Steemit, actually you lose the value even if you don't lose the unit. Steem is a inflationary currency, every discovered block adds new units. So if you simply hold it and nobody speculate in the price, your share will lose value overtime.
Thank you for the great content as always! Could you briefly explain what is BitShares for the next video as well?
Very interesting. Can you tell us the difference between EOS and LISK?
Great channel Ivan!
I think EOS is going to have a good chance becoming bigger then Ethereum, because they admit the fact that coding in general is not perfect. In case of smart contracts this is a powerfull and realistic vision.
Example: A bug is detected on EOS in an smart contract, and people are hurt by this bug. The option in EOS is to review the contract by an oracle and see if it needs to be changed. Thanks Ivan! Awesome content as always!
Difference between Lisk and Eos?
The problem with all "global computation" schemes whether they be PoW, PoS or anything is that they necessarily require computation be expensive. Seems a bit counter trend does it not? The truth is very few application actually need to be developed and run on these type of systems.
So basically it's like Rails for blockchain+Dapp?
Ivan, thanks for the great videos. I can't understand where using blockchain apps can have a real benefit other than banking- why would one prefer a social network, for example, based on EOS and not centralized? Is it for security reasons? If so - isn't it an unreal concern people are not much worried about when using something like Facebook?
So is EOS dependent on Bitshares and Steemit, or is it entirely separate? If it is separate, what is the use of Bitshares and Steemit, if EOS can do everything they can do?
ETH has the backing of the EEA. Massive corporations getting on board... will EOS gain the same credentials? Good channel buddy. Thumbs up.
I have a question, the concept of smart contract is there also in EOS?
Nice work! Your channel is really helpful.
Great video! I really like the analogy you made with OS.
One small remark: I think the video was a bit too long for the content you gave. you often repeated things you already mentioned before. But nevertheless, great work!
Yes, we are now over the deadline for those currencies, but fortunately, there are still other options available, such as Web3 Infinity.
Being a programmer since the early 90's, liking being close to the CPU (which fortunately is still required in many domains), I feel old
Huge fan of your videos, man!! Keep them coming :-)
What is your opinion on IPFS? I understand steemit is built using it. It has a lot of nice features that works well with blockchain that has some nice decentralized features. Does IPFS fit in anywhere with EOS?
can't wait for the next EOS videos!
it sounds nice! Do you know how computing power is rewarded if no tokens are spent ?
I SECOND THIS POINT!
block producers get rewarded, check out the part 2 which will be released in an hour:)
If you have a centralized server front end wouldn't that result in having less privacy? I thought protecting your privacy was a major positive for any Dapp.
you mentioned grant cardone and i lost it... small world! lol great explanation videos - subbed!
Bro @Ivan on Tech, Can you link me EOS?
Hey Ivan, that's a nice shirt! Mind me asking where you snagged it ?
How do the computers processing the blockchain's transactions get paid then?? (In effect, EOS' servers)
So is it still an idea? At what phase is EOS?
The progress of Web3 Infinity Token is remarkable. It is going correctly.

US IP detected cannot participate, do you know what's going on? I am trying to participate on EOS tokens and it wont let me do it.
Is it true that EOS does not allow US citizens to buy the coins? Does it sound fishy to anyone?

I like your content. Why not use Prezi or PowerPoint?
The biggest Ethereum enemy is the fact that it has no limitation in terms of stock ( number of Ether that can be mined )
This makes it worthless as a currency, any currency to have value needs to have a limited production.
Yes it is to put a LIMIT on the numbers available, this is the basics of the economy, I don't want to give economy lessons here...
justiça sol POS, cheers
You are wrong justice, fiat is unlimited and has always been. Know how inflation works? Know why a chocolate bar costs 2 dollars instead of 10 cents... Yes there is a negative side effect but thats not even how eth works, its not printed in secret by bad guys. Very different than fiat...common...
Its funny you call it worthless while I sit here and make tons of currency (usd, bcoin, eth)from it ha ha Already paid myself back the "cash" i spent on my systems. Hmm...worth less... definitions.
Is there a reason why Ethereum won't be able to incorporate those features to it's own blockchain?
Tom Cohen idk. You might need to hard fork ethereum for second time
hey Ivan can you make one on NLC2 ? its fantasy league coin, im thinking about investing on it!
I bought 3000 EOS in the last deep market, I think the price could reach between 100$ and 200$ per token
Le LEVYATHAN 2000years time
great vid man^^ lovin em.. keep em comin^^D
What about Stratis? No need to learn ethereum platform at all.
yo so what do you think about lisk? why is it not a thing at all?
Wow Thank you so much. Here I am thinking Ethereum is everything.. Cool to see better alternatives like this.. I'm a sucker for platform tokens like Bitcoin, ETH, GAME andd next is EOS on my list then.. There is always a demand for platforms. Steemit is cool but I don't think it'll succeed. Its not decentralized enough and people with more steem coins will curate and control everything.
Great video. I think Aeternity is going to be the Ethereum killer.
how I buy?
