If you ever give that a chance let me know, those places are too easy. A fly fishermen’s dream,I got holes that are good year around away from the main marsh that people love so dearly (responding to mikes comment)
Thank you! It's a hybrid trout/strip set. I can't force my right arm to hold still. Lol it has to be part of the action. Probably from 40yrs of muscle memory from conventional gear fishing.
Beautiful video David. Great casting. The Texas marsh can be an awesome place. Thanks for sharing. What size hook was that crab pattern tied on? Thanks.
Bravo! Am fishing roughly the same type of habitat (different part of the country) next week. Please, could use some advice. Are you fishing further in the back country or adjacent to open water? Where I fish I have to commit to one or the other. Also, are your reds feeding into a moving tide or milling around looking for opportunistic snacks? Great video! Makes me stoked for next week. Thanks.
It's way back, but still pretty close to the main bay.(like a maze of tiny channels) I could see and be seen by the boats in the bay. I call it a time gamble, because there's not enough time in the day.. But you have to commit about 30mins to get all the way back there to see if they're in there and feeding. They're mostly just milling around munching on tiny shrimp. They were eating thru slack tide into rising tide. Low tide was about 9.30am.
@@TrailChaser Thank you. That really helps me with planning. There is an area just like you described...more oysters but much the same. With spring tides here should be able to give it a go. Thanks again
What type of fly line do you recommend for the south Texas coast? I’m down in the Lower Laguna Madre and the wind can blow! I’m thinking about the Cortland All Purpose Tropic.
If I'm being honest, no. I'm pretty much done with RUclips and gopro. I never took it too seriously, but now idgaf. Lol I had two pretty epic days Fri/Sat with perfect conditions and a lot of upper and over slot reds being caught. I never even thought about putting my gopro on. It's pretty freeing to be able to just fish and not have to watch what I say when it comes to dropping f bombs with my buddies. Besides during ad-pocalypse about 5yrs ago RUclips practically killed my givashit by cutting my revenue by about 90% overnight. I went from making about $400-700per day to about $20. Since then I just make videos whenever and couldn't care less if people watch it not. I know it used to annoy Mark(MDLR) and Nick(RX Angler) when they'd notice I didn't bother filming a trip. They never said anything, but I could tell. Good luck with your channel!
@@TrailChaser I understand. I see you've been on RUclips for 17 years! The ad issue is a tough one to deal with and really sucks, especially after building your channel to the size it's become. I recently went crabbing WITHOUT filming and realized how much I loved the silence of not hearing myself speak every 2 seconds! Well, don't mind me. I'm just snooping around and doing my research to plan a trip out there one day.
It's just an x pattern tie for the crab body. I don't really do the fly recipe thing, so most of my ties are based on a known pattern with just whatever comes to mind in the moment for the rest of the tie.
Yo my guy! Good to see ur still posting vids I’ve been a fan since the moto vlogs.
Awesome video David. Wow, what a beautiful spot
Thanks Jason! That was a great day.
Awesome.

Love your hookups!

Have you fished the Nueces backwater in the back of CC bay?
I haven't, but I've been looking at some of those areas.

I usually just use scientific angler frequency, but mostly because it's cheaper than the other lines that most people recommend.
Hey man how’s the job been treating you ?
Cool video. R u using intermediate fly line?
Yes, it's 6ips sinking tip.
What brand of push pole/paddle are you using ?
It came with the paddleboard I bought. I 3d printed the foot to make it push better.
Sooooo, are you ready to make a comeback? 🤔

Should make a video of how to tie that crab or you copied another person?

One red on the fly is worth 10 on cut bait….all day…..Jon boat wins again!!!!
