They totally abandoned the run game again, not to mention the costly turnovers. And despite all that, our defense STILL gave us numerous chances to get back in this game. They were lights out in the 2nd half. This loss is totally on Lamar, Zay, and coaching for deviating from a winning formula of balanced running with a good mix of passing. It was ugly, frustrating, and hard to watch.

They went from 8-9 last year with Flacco, to a playoff team when he took over and every year after when he is healthy. Also, Lamar individually has the highest win percentage in the league, while leading his team in passing and rushing, doesn’t get much more MVP than that.
Lamar is 4th in passer rating, and you are excluding his rushing stats so you can make his numbers look lower lmao. Do the yards not count when you rush for them or something? Also, Lamar’s impact goes beyond stats. Gus Edward’s was walking into the end zone untouched like 15 times this season because the defense is worried about Lamar keeping the ball.
He has 2 MVPs, everyone already knows he won the 2nd one, no need to pretend.
Also, playoffs don’t affect the MVP voting you goofball. The voting is already done before the AFC championship haplened and they don’t vote based on playoffs anyways. Peyton manning lost 20-3 in the divisional round when he won his 2nd MVP.

Chris Jones said after the game that it was the whole strategy of the Chiefs to make Baltimore throw the ball.
If they could get up by a couple of scores, Baltimore would abandon the run and throw against an awesome Chiefs defense that has held teams down all season.
You keep giving Mahomes chances and a defense that can keep you in check, and game over.
All Mahomes had to do was burn clock and game manage at that point.
    That's exactly what they did.
They only needed to do what was needed to win the game.
Chiefs defense is who won this game.
Mahomes WR's weren't on the same level as Baltimore's, but still pulled off the win.
It truly was an amazing strategy and execution on behalf of the Chief's coaching staff.

I was rooting for Lamar, but people need to understand he has been in the league for six seasons. The guy is not throwing you to a Super Bowl. Just the facts, that is not who he is or who he will ever be. The Chiefs left the door open that whole game. That was his moment, and he could not put them on his back. Our running backs had six carries total against a team that the Bills ran all over. We were a one dimensional team. Watched Colin Cowherd who said he was baffled at the Ravens play calling. I’m a Ravens fan, and will no longer be hyped in the offseason. This team clearly has a ceiling and I have 5 years of history in the Lamar area supporting it. The bottleneck in big games is always the offense. 10 against the Chiefs, 3 against the Bills, and 12 against the Titans. You have to go back to Lamar’s rookie season to even get 17. It’s never gonna get it done. This team struggles to put up 2 touchdowns way too often in the playoffs. It’s mental.

@@donovan4222 I totally agree. They’re absolutely capable of doing the things we expect. It’s just a weird mental thing where they lose their identity when it matters most. Even looking at the Lions, and Bills losses for example. They never lost their identity. It was still a good game, and the best team won. These Ravens games become just hard to watch. It’s bad football on one side from the coin toss. Mental mistakes, bad play calls, bad fundamentals, bad clock management, bad sticks management, just everything. I mean just CONSTANTLY behind on the sticks. 1/2 yards on first down, and then try to get 25 on second. It’s extremely low tier football. The floor for this offense should not still be that low 5 years later. They’re never prepared, and I don’t know what the answer is. Maybe a regime/philosophy change because this is certainly old and stale. There isn’t any more excuses to make.

  • @CraftySouthpaw
    @CraftySouthpaw 8 месяцев назад

Despite all the immaturity/penalties on defense, they did their job by holding the Chiefs to 17. This loss was 90% on Lamar - he sat in the pocket/held the ball too long, he didn't feel pressure or adjust to the blitz, he continually overthrew receivers on deep shots, he ignored open checkdown targets & tried to force the ball downfield, & he turned over the ball twice. During one of their last drives (the one that ended in a pick IIRC), there were at least TWO plays where a receiver was open within 5-10 yards & Lamar ignored them & tried to force the ball downfield (which fell incomplete both times).

The way this game was run adds ammo to the "rigged" conspiracy (whatever the goal of the rigging was).
Watching this game, I immediately saw problems with the usage of the RB. Justice Hill was on the field WAY too much. Rushing, he is a decent back but really brings nothing to the table that simply allowing Lamar to run doesn't. He's not a power guy, and he definitely doesn't have better moves than Lamar. In pass protection,he's not as big as Edward's and doesn't provide any benefit. I actually saw him miss his block on multiple plays. Justice Hills' only decent advantage is catching out of the back field. The problem here is to really make this work against a team with as much skill in coverage you needed someone who could capitalize with speed. The Ravens had great success with out of the back field work with Keaton Mitchell. Even some immediately after his injury. I would argue that was due to Keatons' amazing speed. Teams started giving more space to make sure they did not get burned (which keaton did a lot averaging over 10 yards per reception and 8 pee rush). Once teams adjusted to Hill playing the same role, the big gains slowed drastically.
In the game, the biggest reception and rush by RB went to Gus "bus". So why did Gus get only 4 touches?
You could also ask why, if you are going pass happy, do you not put your 2 amazing receiving TE on the field at the same time? Use this formation with gus in the backfield, he forcing mismatches, and pushing KC to bring people out of coverage to contain the run.
There is a lot more, but not putting your players in the best position is not how Harbaugh usually works.

The INT was a disaster though I think LJ8era thought with #22 bumping TE Lively#80 that P/I would have been called. No that doesn't excuse the risk of throwing into triple coverage. He played poorly. Clowney, Van Noy & DT hitting PM2 didn't help.

Penalties. Interception and two fumbles. Time of possession barely more than half that of KC. A great running team that didn’t run. It’s hard to win that way. And Mr. October lays another big egg in a big game. AT HOME! Pathetic.

#1 mistake is the TAUNTING at the 8 yrd line of the Chiefs. Lamar does not do well under pressure and being down 2 TD, he gets nervous. The odds are the Ravens gets 7 pts from there and would only be 3 down. Lamar would calm down a bit by being only down 3 instead of 14.
