These kids were seen by neighbors doing yard work at midnight. Neighbors reported they looked pale and emaciated and seemed afraid. Yet in 20+ years, no one reported anything amiss. People need to pay attention to their gut instincts and forget about offending anyone's feelings. This situation should never have gone on so long.

I'm glad that as a support worker and ex nursery worker, I stick my nose in and I always speak up if I have any doubts - even if I have doubts about my doubts, it's best to never sit on them and think "nahhh, I'll let it be, I'm probably wrong"...I think most people do the latter and assume they're wrong or that they're "imagining things".

Well that's kind of the world we live in now people are afraid to speak out for fear they would be labeled as haters or sued. Its almost a crime in itself.

The youngest is 2. That means the mother gave birth at about 47. It's completely conceivable that she is that child's mother but its definitely pushing the envelope so it's also very plausible that its one of the older daughters. I wouldn't be surprised.

I live in Perris, the communities are pretty small but not always close knit. In the community i live in I've seen my neighbors a handful of times but everyone here keeps to themselves(and I've lived here 2 years). On the other hand my in laws live 15 min away and their neighbors are all close knit, talk regularly, and give each other a hand when needed.
I never knew my neighbours had 10 children and I've been living in the same place for 7 years. Some people are just really quite about their daily activities and they never come out all at once. Besides they all looked similar so I thought they were the same person. I visited them last week because our local church said the father was on his death bed. All 10 children where lined up next to him. I almost had a heart attack!
Mr. Turpin is gonna be a big hit in jail with that haircut😂

Look into trauma-based mind control, that is what the parents were doing. Psychological programming.
Taking them to Vegas and Disney reinforces that. It teaches the kids to pretend to act happy and interact with society in a sort of "stealth mode." It also provides them with a reward system for successful behaviour.
plus they endorse the lie, for everybody on the outside AND for their kids, that things at home are normal and ok by doing normal activities once in a while. then, by posting pics of these normal activities onto social media they really, really empathies this lie too. horrible.

All homeschoolers should be required to allow annual wellness checks. Not because homeschoolers are all bad but because so many stories of abuse include pulling the kids out of school and there being no follow up. :(
The story of home schooling in California is a little be strange, because you do have to sight up , like David did, and the kids take exams, where are their exams to move on from grade to grade? The government dropped the ball, and bad. California is bankrupted, people as well, no pity.

Jordan the 17 year old at the time who called the cops just did an interview with her eldest sister Jennifer and omg, it was so emotional to watch. I totally recommend it if you enjoy this case, but I bawled like a baby watching the documentary.

The neighbour even said that he used to notice that two of the children stay looking out the window almost every night at 3am ! He said it was weird too yet after a long time didnt think he should maybe talk ?
It's highly likely they didn't even know 13 children lived there because they rarely came outside. The neighbors likely thought the family only had 1-2 children.

I have been through this before because of my parents and I am still traumatised, at times I feel like killing myself but I am too young to do that, I am like, " let me see where life goes, I can try to forget the past." 😅 It was hard for me to accept the fact that my parents, alive and well, didn't want to take care of me😅❤.
Myself, my brother and sister were locked in our home for 4+ years without eating good food, having people to talk to or having a phone to contact anybody.

When i showed my husband and told him, he said he couldn't see it...just that his hair was horrid and his hair alone would make any child scared yup death of him. Wow! They've almost ALL been failed, abandoned, and a couple of them even abused again since becoming wards of the County, throughout what should have been their post trauma recovery and rehabilitation period.
That's the real story now, how the system has again managed to FAIL then all, whether in adult rehabilitational living or foster care, for the younger siblings. It's arguably just as criminal, the local government tasked with serving and protecting vulnerable people, especially children, They've continued to be victimized, this time by neglect and general apathy.

What this case tells me is that child protective services that the governments had issued and designed to protect children has not just utterly failed. It has been defeated in every way by this family.
Because they never had suspect anything odd with the Turpins that got them to investigate, by their odd behavior. Not to mention that Cps is known to be utterly ruthless in it's own right by ripping children away from parents who are the complete opposite in every way that these two monsters are, at the instance of a single complaint from someone else. Effectively aiding them.
