  • Matt Burney and Joe Mross have been friends for a long time and started working at Marc Adams at separate times. Matt eventually moved out to Oregon and at some point, he suggested they should collaborate on a project. They found an opportunity to create a horse-themed piece, and Matt asked Joe if he wanted to direct the design aspect. The concept involved crafting a chess knight piece, inspired by the classic design, but scaled up to over 15 feet tall, introducing a unique characteristic different from what one might normally expect. Both share a love for rivets and employed an old-school method of assembly reminiscent of how ships were constructed. Joe dedicated most of his energy to initiating the design, building a model, and steering the project to ensure it adhered to the original vision. "It's been awesome, and we've created this really cool piece!"
