Thank you for the review, Cody. I usually find myself following your recommendations (I should be receiving Unfathomable today). Please keep sharing your thoughts on games.
I wish Fantasy Flight could be split off from Asmodee, it seems like they’re such a well of great ideas, designs, and IPs, and I want to see them be less like what Asmodee has made them recently.
I appreciate the review and comparison. I never played BSG and I just couldn't bring myself to pay prices on the secondhand market to get it, but I wanted to know what this game brought to the table that BSG didn't and vice versa. Now I have a better idea. Thanks again.
Thanks for the review Cody, really enjoyed it. Sorry to hear you didn't like it as much as BSG - for me it easily replaced BSG, despite my love for the theme. Much of a change is both how the Hybrid is never killed but instead moves to the brig, which it can also leave through discards. Also, player cards are way more useful, allowing their actions to be beneficial for both sides.
Hi cody, does the expansion they just announced sound interesting to you? Theres an article on FFG's news page that goes into some detail. Wondering whether they have taken some good bits from BSG expansions, or designed new ones... yout thoughts as a longtime BSG player would be insightful. Regards, Salman
Well, the expansion comes with new characters and mythos cards, so I'm on board with that. The allies sound like they could be cool, and the new monsters could also be fun. I'm looking forward to it, although we'll see if it's something that I'll play with every time. Thanks.
İ found it around 50€ and İ took it... Really surprised me and i never play Battlestar Galactica... I'm questioning if i should also take that one. Thanks for the review
Cody, thanks again mate. I’ve been considering this for a little while now. Still not sure as never played BSG but always appreciate your thoughts and time. One favour. You may have considered this but it may blur too much the line between your hobby and your “job-passion”. I would love to see you do some book reviews. Having just watched the disappointing “Midway” I went chasing some more material about this battle that I was/am considerably ignorant. I have started in on Shattered Sword which from the blurb deconstructs and shunts many Midway tropes into the fictional category. As a thinker that I have often trusted and respected your reviews(humour and entertaining very much recommends an intellect) I would love to hear more from you about ideas about WW2 Anyway mate have a fantastic new year to you, family and friends (especially Drac!!). I look forward to your content in 2022
Thank you for your kind comment. It is much appreciated. You'll note at the end of my videos recently I make a plea for viewers to check out my other channel, Cody Carlson PhD, which I think fits the bill you are talking about exactly: ruclips.net/channel/UCiK_bFrJ0cSIjVxnEJtbU7Avideos
For my 2021 recommended reading book list I requested that my grandma read 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.. ... .... ... ... but she said that the book was 'unfathomable'...
I never played BSG but i wanted to. I should have bought it 4 years ago. I'm glad this exist, so i can get some taste of it. Im glad the game is like diet dr.pepper. (that it taste more like the real thing.) Im not big on the restoration games, like fireball island. Those games are like diet coke. It taste different from the original. I get hyped that it will feel like the original, but in reality its a totally different game with almost the same art work and themes. Thanks for the video. I wonder what the expansions will bring to unfathomable. Will it keep the bsg traditions or will it make it feel totally different than bsg?
Rather; don't you hate it on ocean cruise when the ship sinks/you're washed aboard and lose items/monsters appear - as per *ANY* ocean voyage playing Eldritch Horror and being at sea.. :p
Great video Cody, as usual. Where do u think unfathomable would be to someone like me, who found BSG to be Meh, but REALLY like New Angeles? And by streamlining, how long have your games been, after the first learning game? Regards, Salman
If you weren't a fan of the BSG theme, you might get a kick out of this one - especially if you liked New Angeles. I've played it twice. First game was about three hours. Second game was under two, but that's because the traitors were able to win pretty quickly. Thanks!
Game indeed looks promising. Card quality, looks definitely disappointing. Unfortunately (as much as I like my Lovecraftian theme) I don't have enough people to play it with... As usual: great review!!!
I'm a longtime BSG fan too, ever since your review turned me on to it all those years ago. Did you find Unfathomable faces the same issue where it has that very specific optimal player count of 5, lest you end up having to play with some "Cylon Sympathizer" equivalent?
I can't wait for the "The Princess Bride" version called "INCONCEIVABLE".
Ha!
Thanks for another great review.
A friend asked me if this was a good strategy game. I told him it was a Deep One. 😀 👽
Ha! Thanks.
I totally forgot about BSG, but yes, I loved that game. Took me a moment to get the "deck" joke, thanks for that! Cheers! - Joe Stoken TOTS
Thanks!

Will do. Happy to help. You'll get a kick out of this one for sure.

Agreed.
BSG is thematic IF you know the show. This new theme is much better as you can explain it to everyone without a TV show reference problem.
I haven’t found the “tv show reference problem” to be too much of an issue.
Hey Cody awesome review thanks!
Thank you!
I’m looking forward to Christian Petersen’s new company, Ghost Galaxy, publishing a game. I don’t think they have announced anything yet though.
First I've heard of it. Wow. Looking forward to it now!

That is something you must decide for yourself. Best of luck.

Thank you, sir. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to play this one down the line.

I usually play BSG with six and play with the Sympathizer. However, I'll experiment with player count for Unfathomable.
You'll throw this one out and keep BG. The question is will you have gotten your money's worth?
I don’t know. We’ll see.
Some of the characters in this are terribly written. Doesn't help with the theme at all
Agreed.
