The cool thing about what his wife started, is they will all tell eachother this tale of the peanut butter jelly man and every generation will communicate this to the others, so the raccoons will ALWAYS come. One fact about raccoons. They ARE intelligent.
@Random Workshop I agree they are very intelligent critters. I had a family of 4 raccoons visit me almost every evening. They where very polite. They would put beautiful little stones on my steps as gifts. This was in a city and most of the people would try to kill them. I could not see doing that.
It the house is ever sold it would be in the contract you'd feed the raccoons who showed up every night. Think how sad they'd be if one day no one showed up or the house is empty and that was it.

You sir have a wonderful heart. But, as a wild life rehabilitation expert I caution you on feeding them hot dogs & bread. Its too toxic for their digestion. May I offer some ideas. Hard boiled eggs or scraps from a butcher. If you feel the need to feed bread then toast it & add pnut butter. I love your heart. ♥️

Not a scrap left! Astonishing how polite they are with each other with no food fights. I think they know there is plenty for all. What an incredibly sweet thing to do for the raccoons!! You are my hero. Thank you for explaining the background as its in context and you know what you are doing. The raccoons look well fed, emotionally calm, and very healthy! Great job on deworming and flea meds! Not sure how you accomplish this for each one. Also curious if you give them cat or dog meds? Drontal Plus is for dogs only, and Droncit for Felines. Drontal Plus has 3 meds: Praziquantel (tapeworms), Pyrantel Pamoate (Roundworms), Febantel (Hookworms, Whipworms). Droncit has only 1 med: Praziquantel (tapeworms). Since Raccoons also eat snails, they are prone to Lungworm, and the treatment is Febandozole. Lungworm is passed through snails to rats and mice, and so eating any of these animals will infect the larger animal. I do animal rescue, so researched all this online. Not in the medical field. Note that if you have domestic pets and if they have coughing fits, it may be lungworm from the snails or raccoons. Droncit is for tapeworm only in either tablet or inj form. Drontal plus is for both cats and dogs but come in different bottles labeling feline or canine( and they have small or large canine drontal plus) difference of feline canine small and large is the mg of all the meds in the tablets. Dosage goes by body weight . Im a vet tech. We see a lot of raccoons foxes etc. Hope this answers any questions!
Literally just feeding a pest problem... His neighborhood is going to be slammed with these things. Eating and spilling neighbors trash cans, breeding under peoples houses, getting in fights with peoples cats.. Wild animals should remain wild and self independent. I know they are cute little furry things but this does more harm then good.
When I was little this momma raccoon "hired" my parents to babysit for her. She'd brought the babies by a few times, but this time we were in the backyard and she brings the babies up to us, chitters at the babies, and then momma walked away. The babies didn't even try to follow her, she clearly told them to stay. An hour or so later she came back and picked up her kids. This happened everyday for like a week. Around the middle of the week my dad tried to pet one of the babies before momma left, she grabbed his hand in her mouth and lightly squeezed, then let go once my dad started to pull his hand away from the baby. Basically momma was saying "I hired you to watch them, not spoil them."

Not only is he honoring her wishes, but these animals are flourishing. Those are the healthiest looking raccoons I’ve ever seen. Their coats are shimmering. They are very well off.

You’re as bad as me. I feed the local foxes and grey squirrels that visit my garden. Every day I have a gorgeous female fox, a grumpy male fox and about 8 squirrels waiting for me in my garden. I never get anything done in the garden as I’m always being approached by hungry squirrels 😂 and I’m too soft to say no.
I have a ton of stray cats where I live that I feed. The minute they hear my patio screen door open, they come running up to me. Or if I'm working out in my living room with the door open, they'll just sit there and look at me. It's creepy at night. One of them likes to sleep in my bed or on me and it's so cute.

But, as a wild life rehabilitation expert I caution you on feeding them hot dogs & bread. Its too toxic for their digestion. May I offer some ideas. Hard boiled eggs or scraps from a butcher. If you feel the need to feed bread then toast it & add pnut butter.

Great job on deworming and flea meds! Not sure how you accomplish this for each one. Also curious if you give them cat or dog meds? Drontal Plus is for dogs only, and Droncit for Felines.
Drontal Plus has 3 meds: Praziquantel (tapeworms), Pyrantel Pamoate (Roundworms), Febantel (Hookworms, Whipworms).
Droncit has only 1 med: Praziquantel (tapeworms).
Since Raccoons also eat snails, they are prone to Lungworm, and the treatment is Febandozole. Lungworm is passed through snails to rats and mice, and so eating any of these animals will infect the larger animal.
I do animal rescue, so researched all this online. Not in the medical field. Note that if you have domestic pets and if they have coughing fits, it may be lungworm from the snails or raccoons.

Drontal can be used for cats with tapeworm. Thanks for the lungworm info. I rescue in NYC as well as overseas and I never really heard of it.

Droncit is for tapeworm only in either tablet or inj form. Drontal plus is for both cats and dogs but come in different bottles labeling feline or canine( and they have small or large canine drontal plus) difference of feline canine small and large is the mg of all the meds in the tablets. Dosage goes by body weight . Im a vet tech. We see a lot of raccoons foxes etc. Hope this answers any questions!

When I was little this momma raccoon "hired" my parents to babysit for her. She'd brought the babies by a few times, but this time we were in the backyard and she brings the babies up to us, chitters at the babies, and then momma walked away. The babies didn't even try to follow her, she clearly told them to stay. An hour or so later she came back and picked up her kids. This happened everyday for like a week. Around the middle of the week my dad tried to pet one of the babies before momma left, she grabbed his hand in her mouth and lightly squeezed, then let go once my dad started to pull his hand away from the baby. Basically momma was saying "I hired you to watch them, not spoil them."

You’re as bad as me. I feed the local foxes and grey squirrels that visit my garden. Every day I have a gorgeous female fox, a grumpy male fox and about 8 squirrels waiting for me in my garden. I never get anything done in the garden as I’m always being approached by hungry squirrels 😂 and I’m too soft to say no.

I have a ton of stray cats where I live that I feed. The minute they hear my patio screen door open, they come running up to me. Or if I'm working out in my living room with the door open, they'll just sit there and look at me. It's creepy at night. One of them likes to sleep in my bed or on me and it's so cute.
