Honestly, I think this generation A3 is going to go down in automotive history in the same fashion as the B5 A4; one of the greatest ever released! I have a 2016 Audi A3 Quattro in the Monsoon Grey with the S-Line Black Optics package and, while I'd love to upgrade to an S3, I find i love the car so much (plus it's been pretty rock solid) that I just don't want to let it go. Upgraded the steering wheel to a modern S3 wheel and it's really all the car needs (well, that and the upgraded MIB system lol, but that's just nitpicking)
I have the 2020 Final Edition and it is amazing. It's got all the top Audi features in a tiny little car. I am 6'3" and it is so comfortable. I hate SUVs. Not many car companies care about us small car folks, but Audi clearly does. Thank you, Audi!
Nice thorough review. I’ve been looking at CPO BMW 330i and Mercedes C300 cars for a few months, and hadn’t considered an Audi. But the local dealer has a new 2020 A3 S line Premium Plus Quattro left in stock. I’m planning to check it out tomorrow.
They are changing the line completely for 2021, yes, it hasn't evolved since other than the virtual cockpit (available in higher trims) and the 2.0T engine for the last 5 years.
Nice rims on this one!! I like the black-silver combination! Awesome it can take 87 regular!! I agree not many manufacturers put emphasis on that any more...
mine was 2018 A3, Absolutely perfect object. enjoying lots of it. 2020 one bit different than but I got virtual cockpit. Amazing product from Germany...Love it.
Great review by Gold Pony. Very thorough and informative review. The gas mileage is better than I thought and I didn't know that this car could take regular 87 octane. Thanks for a wonderful review. Nice job!
It can definitely take regular gas, but after poking around the internet, premium is still a better option. It's a turbocharged engine and Audi recommends premium gas. I would stick with premium. I do on my 2020. It cuts down carbon build up.
What color is that? Looks nice. I have a 2015 A3 and it's been absolutely perfect. I have the sport springs and it still has a great ride! I too have the light gray interior and it's so much nicer than the drab all black.
@@marcloismendoza20 it's excellent. Someone did back into me in a parking lot and left a small hole under the left headlight, but nothing else has happened. Just hit 50,000 miles in November.
One thing not quite right in this review- virtual cockpit is indeed available in the A3 and has been since 2017. I just recently purchased a 2020 final edition and virtual cockpit was included. I have test driven both the 2020 and the 2022-3 newer models. The 2020 won. While I liked the new location of the MMI screen in the newer model I hated the fact that it was touch screen. The knob in the console on the 2020 is so much easier to use and less distracting while driving, IMO. Several other things bothered me about the 2022-3- the weird gear shifter, the wheel designs are dreadful, with only two options (and I do not like either), the piano black plastic in the interior and the honeycomb grill, which is just simply too big and seems trendy. I also prefer the round air vents in the 2020, so easy to use. But that is just me, other people may prefer the newer car. There were just too many things that bothered me about the new design. I really thought I was going like it, but I didn't. My dealer had a 2020 A3 final edition dealer car with 6000 miles on it, so I took it. No regrets. I'll wait for the next redesign. But I will say this, this is my second A3. It's a great choice no matter which you decide to purchase. It's just one hell of a badass, fun little car. Audi is right to be proud of it for sure.
I leased a 2016 A3 and later bought a 2015 A3 because I loved the car so much. Now I have 2019 GLI will definitely consider going back to the A3 but I’ll wait for the new one. Awesome car!
Being an owner of a 2017 A3 (Europe), I am amazed to hear you guys don't get Virtual Cockpit in US on A3. What a pitty as that thing alone changes this car completely! Obviously in Europe we get Virtual Cockpit as well as TDI engines with butt tons of torque. :)
Good luck pick mine up last year 63 plate with 18,000 on the clock. S-Line T D I 184 bhp now 234 bhp full Audi Service history and every extra under the Sun including full leather green tinted windows instead of black list just goes on well chuffed even the £32,000 receipt from when it was new with all the extras so I wish you all the very best and hope you get your onePS still only got 23 on the clock
You really need to run premium fuel in these 2.0 tfsi. I do. The plugs dip into the cylinder further than usual and the higher detergents help to reduce carbon buildup and thereby not loosing the get up and go these 2.0 are known for. Looking in my manual they rec changing plugs every 60k km. Sooner with lower fuel grade. Dont run reg fuel. You wont get your listed hp with reg fuel either. It's all over the audi forums.
I currently have a 2018 GTI and looking at either getting a base 2020 Audi S3 or a FULLY LOADED 2020 Audi A3 Quattro Premium Plus with navigation and every single option. Which would you go with? Both would cost me 35 grand because of all the rebates and since the new model is coming out they are handing out huge discounts
I owned an S3 and it’s really, really small. Backseat is worthless for anything other than kids or a dog. I’d recommend getting a year old A4 over this.
Audi STILL ADDS optical drives to their cars THANK GOD!!! A what?? A CD player I said. A what? A 💿 CD player. A disc that plays music. Yeah kids, this is the way we used to listen to music before compressed AF dry soulless MP3 files entered the fray. And CD’s sound like shit compared to analog vinyl records. No I’m not going to say..............and before that we had cassettes and 8-tracks that were even better. No they sucked then and now. Well 8-tracks did, cassettes are still dope. Edison cylinders anyone? Hello? Where did everyone go??
mrfld ; You could not be more wrong. Plenty of people still use CD’s and they sound so much better than satellite radio which truly sounds like shit. It’s beyond compressed. No highs no lows just muddy midrange that we pay $100-$200/year for! You must be around 25 years old and none of your friends use CD’s and that’s a shame. You have been raised on digital files that are very convenient but sound terrible . Try playing a vinyl record on a property set up analog front end. Then you tell me what warm, uncompressed music sounds like!
I drive a 2018 rs3, i still use the "optical drive" not only CDs but mine is a DVD player also. My car has the audi virtual cockpit with carplay and android auto..i wish there was the ability to play youtube videos or netflix thats all i wish for
Very surprised that Audi in NA are putting 87 and 91 stickers on the fuel cap.. I personally would not recommend running on that all the time, or you’ll end up like those angry Audi owners that spend more time in the service department.
Quattro is the tuning of the differential on Haldex AWD equipments. There are 2 common AWD variations, Haldex and Torsen. So this is a Quattro tuned Haldex AWD system.
@@Boujizz it's just branding. Quattro means 4 and trade marked for audi's torsen style. Haldex is trade marked 4 motion. The big difference is the longitudinal engine audi and the transversely mounted vw engines. A/S3 and golf r mixed everything up. Absolutely pleased to bits they’ve kept the same interior brilliant looking car inside and out.

I own a late 2012 model and it's still the same at these ones. If it ain't broke
Yet it aged like fine wine, and better than its competitors
ArmandoXIII do you know if the U.S will get the updated S3 and RS3??
Shouldn’t change anything that isn’t broken.

Great review. IMO, Audi’s tend to age well throughout their lifecycle.

We dont want those crappy diesels.
You can get the virtual cockpit on the a3 tho
Believe me, not in many countries unless it is default
I love white with the nice black top panoramic sunroof. Beautiful. Would have went with this if I didn’t go at my A-Class

Base trim doesn't come standard with LED headlights? Not good for a car in this price range.

Will the U.S get the 2021 S3 and RS3 sedans ?
Cool review, that cap though.
Great review but what do you mean there is a 2021 re-design coming?
That's the rumor/prediction 👍
Coming this year to Europe....fact.

USA will have it for 2021..better interior
Is the virtual Cockpit not available in the US or was it the car? because here in Canada the a3's have it.(It's optional).
They have it after 2017.
Yeah ik, but he said its not available.
Interior is different from other reviews for 2020 ?
This is the U.S. Spec... I know other countries will look different 👍
Where did he talk about wait or buy the car?
He didn’t
First! If only Audi sold the wagon version here!
It’s not really quattro, it has the haldex from vw
Got memes? WHAT! Is this really true?
True, but haldex is swedish later bought by borg. Audi uses it on a/s3 and golf r.

you have 6 something sized friends in the back or something? I'm near 6 feet and can fit perfectly well on the back of my 3 door 8P

Looks great , like a4 but more previous
