I call games like Leviathan Wilds “granola cereal games”. Easy to pull out, crunchy, and satisfying.

Granola cereal sounds boring though. For a modern day board game to have all 3 attributes in one game, I would call that the holy trinity.

Glad to hear your thoughts on this one. Looking forward to the reprint via KS (hopefully) later this year.
Long ago, I enjoyed playing MTG and Skytear Horde really scratches that itch well solo.

sounds like a good one - for me I grew up with clue and risk, and stratego and then in college played Diplomacy with a few good friends - the hours of fun through the negotiation phases more than the theme were what made that game a blast - now i play a variety of mostly lighter family games with my family which i love, but also want to get some more in depth gaming at some point ----- i always enjoy your reviews and channel - keep on keeping on!

Great review for a great game! I actually do love playing two handed rather than the “official” solo mode. Feels like it helps make you feel the interactions much better with one characters strength picking up on the others weakness.

I really appreciate the non-connected one-off scenario approach of Leviathan Wilds. We do not need or want more campaign games.

      Same. Completely over that.

This game is really unique and awesome! I have greatly enjoyed my plays of it. I can’t wait to see what they plan to add in their next campaign. Maybe some hero levels with unlockable hero cards to add that sense of progression.

Great overview, Jack! I’m curious, do you have a favorite Leviathan and/or character and/or class? We just made it into 2⚙️ pages and while I’ve loved the multiple plays of the first three, Watcher was absolutely a blast. Not sure if I have a favorite character or class just yet, but while I appreciate the inclusion of the goofy luckfest that is the Gambler, I’m not sure I necessarily need to play that one again, haha

Yeah gambler is goofy but I had a good time with them. I really liked the spider Leviathan so far. The yeti ice dude too. As far as favorite class, the green dude (fix?) is my fave design but Kestrel (the red dude?) is probably my favorite gameplay wise. I really like the spotter class, the one that sets up the bonus movement token.
