I thought after that one time where the Queen stop breathing, Bong Hwan started to have the memories and feeling of the Queen including her love to the King?

He said, "Don't let your personal feelings get in the way". Am I the only one here who thinks that maybe the King liked her before? HAHAHA. I can't wait for everything to unfold.
I took that to mean that he shouldn't be soft about killing an unarmed woman. Because earlier, YP tried to stop CJ from rescuing that baby that was in danger during their raid. CJ never gave SY the time of day when he found out she was a Kim (he was deeply prejudiced until Mr. Queen called him on his BS), so Prince YP wouldn't have reason to think CJ cared for her. Even in the spin-off that tried to create a backstory, CJ had maybe 10 minutes with her without knowing she was a Kim and immediately shunned her afterwards. It wasn't until after Mr. Queen saved both CJ and HWJ by admitting to the suicide attempt that YP accused CJ of becoming fond of her. YP would have no reason to think that CJ had personal feelings for her prior to this.

No matter how many ways I look at the ending, or try to understand the theory behind it, I can't help but still feel the king fell in love with bong hwan, and as the drama unfolded especially at the lake scene where the original Kim went back down, and bong hwan said "the Kim so Yong you know died that night", I mean if byeong ni could tell it wasn't her, I'm sure the king had his hunches too... Plus he fell in love with bong hwan's mannerisms and personality didn't he? Bong hwan was the one who convinced him he was different... And his ideas from the future saved everyone. I mean I feel for the original Kim but she didn't do shit to change their lives, it was all him... Plus at the end.. U could tell he fell in love with the king too because he cried and remembered such a fond memory. Even with the baby he was so protective... Sigh so bittersweet.
Yeah. I felt like they built up episodes 1-19 to show their love story but chickened out due to societal pressures and ruined it in episode 20. Even if they wanted SY/CJ to be the endgame, they should have done it better so that we don't feel like this stranger just came and took the love meant for someone else. There's actually a lot of inconsistencies in the story. Like why BH/SY - are they they same soul and just different versions of a reincarnation? Because they later on in the spin-off show the king wanting to be reborn and reunited with his "strange" queen - yet they're still sticking to SY being his love? It wouldn't work unless SY and BH were the same soul, but that isn't explained. Then what about the parallel universe conversation that was briefly mentioned and Damyang's mother's nails regrown in just a couple of months...like I love the chemistry between the two leads (it's what sold me on the show even more than that comedy parts), but the actual storytelling was flawed in so many ways and relied too heavily on deus ex machina.

Don't do it. Save yourself the heartache. They built up the love story between these two and had SoBong (combo of SY's body and BH's consciousness) finally accepting her love for CJ. Then in the last episode, they send BH back to present times, SY pops out like she was always there and CJ ends up spending the rest of his life with SY with everyone (including the king) just ignoring the fact that she is a different person now. BH gets very little storytime after his return and acts like he and CJ were just buddies who went about changing the world - not a single moment spent internalizing his loss of the friends, lover, or child he carried while being in the queen's body. They basically made him irrelevant and everyone goes along with it. Only one brief second was spent with the king wondering if he lost something... Went from brilliant strategist who memorized every word Mr. Queen ever uttered to being a moron in 40 minutes.
