Yeah the whole streaming business model has gotten absolutely insane. Not with just movies and music but also games. We still have most of the popular services but we are getting our old discs out and going to start burning them to a hard drive or server to stream anywhere we want without having to continuously pay for services we only use a couple times a month. Great video! It will be interesting to see where this all goes.

      Streaming is just about dead.
Creators are now moving towards a patron only business model. Social media is fu**kd.
The new trend slowly gaining popularity is that creators use their copyright to target social platforms instead of regular people.
If social media, like RUclips permits engagements on their content then the platform would have violated copyright. All kinds of engagements are reserved for patron only platforms.
This means these big tech platforms will have to remove user engagements feature from their site for most content.
Lets see how these tech tycoons like copyright now 😂.

I shot the satellite out of the sky last week myself. I had a pretty basic package with add on locals and one step up in programming. After four years I was getting really disenchanted with the programs I was seeing. The same episodes on a 6 week rotation and once a season getting 6 to 8 new episodes replacing the same amount of oldest episodes. After a week I'm not missing much. Watching free channels that I can get on an Amazon fire stick and locals via antenna. I'm sure that I may subscribe to Netflix or similar service after a couple of months, maybe in the fall. I'm getting what free music I can off of Prime and subscribe to Tidal and I am making that do. I will go out and occasionally buy a used CD. I'm old, like things as simple as I can get these days.

I canceled all my subscriptions and 100% moved to piracy and now I have access to all shows, movies and music. I don't mind paying, but I'm not going to pay multiple services that raise their prices every year. I'm done paying too much.

Just an opinion. All the charts songs are so close to trash that in the near future we will switch again to an alternate way of music finding and buying. So everything is in slippery waters right now.!!!

FYI, downloading content onto your own server/pc can be seen as holding it in your hand. The content may be in digital mode, but the storage mechanism is a hybrid between digital and physical.
One can also wonder if the creators of the content mind the piracy. Yes they loose out on some "royalties", but they get free advertising from the pirates which can bring some viewers to the legal sources.

I pay for digital over the air, which is nothing. Then RUclips premium (where you can also rent most movies for Blockbuster prices) and Netflix for original series. Between those three, I have local news, movies and shows, as well as original RUclips content. Don’t keep a service if you are only getting one show out of it.

This is why i'm on a CD buying spree and i just bought a new cd player . i want to OWN an OBJECT as in a physical CD .
The only streaming i do is RUclips . it's free and i bought a Bluetooth receiver for my receiver which is pretty good xcept for one channel being louder than the other , but i have balance control on my preamp so the sound is acceptable.

Why pay for a third time what I once purchased on Vinyl, casette and then CD. I just pirate flac (that sound like crap on a computer, phone, etc) to be able to play them since vinyl and cd players are not being made unless its chinese bad quality plastic junk. Buying physical media doesnt work if the players are not being made and the old ones you have dont work anymore.

@@audioarkitekts I pay €34.00 a month in The Netherlands. Don't even use the phone but keep it on in case some lost soul calls my land line. My Max is 2,99 at the moment (early adopter discount) Qobuz was €150 for the year. Maybe I'll move to Tidal as it price was lowered to 10.99 € a month over here.

The vinyl boom, along with streaming, is a manufatured sham, that is taking everyone to the cleaners. BUY CDS NOW! ....and for the love of Pete (Hi Pete!) cancel your music streaming services. I’ve been running a plex server for a while now, adding content is cheap my local charity shop sells BLU-RAY/DVD/CD at 15 discs for £1 . The down side is the equipment needed for my server, NAS and hard drives for it plus backups isn’t cheap. Yes you can buy second hand hard drives and utilise old PC’s as servers but you still need reliable equipment to get the best experience so some company somewhere will still be making money from us.

I'm not paying these fees at these prices anymore and I'm not watching 15 minutes of ads every show. They drove people to this with their garbage decisions. Honestly as well, if they can pull something you purchased in full and that doesn't equal ownership, I don't consider piracy theft anymore

@@audioarkitektsCrazy to think after 20 years of companies streaming all they managed to accomplish is creating a worse form of cable being delivered by a slightly different cable.

If anything, streaming led to the resurgence in physical media. Notice the rising sales on vinyl and cassettes within the last decade.
