    Greetings from Germany, where red eared and yellow eared sliders are banned now, because people got the turtles as tiny cute babies and got rid of them in ponds and rivers as they got bigger, smellier and vicious. Out in nature they became an invasive species

      I am a turtle geek myself. Believe they should be left alone for nature to take care of them like it did for thousands of years. Ban all sales and farmers from interfering with the natural course of evolutionary survival

    the food and drug administration regulates baby turtle sales? shouldnt that be the job of the department of agriculture ?

    • @MrsShocoTaco
      @MrsShocoTaco 6 лет назад +3

      koffeekage Possibly because some people eat them. But I agree with you 100%

    Ive been buying baby snappers from online dealers since 2001, Just look em up and say they're for educational purposes. Anyone going that far to purchase these turles are knowlegable and wouldnt get the salmonella disease because you would know to wash your hands after handling them.

    wait, so how is it that we can order turtle hatchlings online?

    • @danielebarello5696
      @danielebarello5696 3 года назад +1

      Law is not enforced, plus they say that they sell them for "educational purposes", which is permitted.

    Am I the only one who finds it odd that a local animal cant be sold locally?

    • @johnpike9612
      @johnpike9612 6 лет назад +2

      MrsShocoTaco nope but then again turtles aren't the only animal that can't be sold, not even close. There's a list of about 200 different species that can't be kept or sold in the state of Arizona alone.

  • @beautifuljoe1313
    @beautifuljoe1313 12 лет назад +7

    Maybe if those selling baby turtles were honest with the buyers, we'd be willing to lift the restrictions. Of course, if the sellers where honest, there would be a lot fewer buyers. Sellers often claim the babies won't get any larger or that they don't need much care. These turtles can live up to 20, 30, even 50 years or more and grow up to 11". That is NOT the perfect pet for everyone.
