The houses are incredibly expensive.
Yes, as well as unique, especially those on High St., the old sea captains' houses with the widow walks on top. Not to mention, it's just a great small city to live in which is why it's so desirable, even a tourist destination spot for many.
Not too mention: not a single black person in NBPT...
Always been that way too.
Is Newburyport similar to Gloucester in any way?
It's similar but Gloucester is a much larger geographic area and the street hug the coast and there are pockets of neighborhoods where Newburyport is rooted in a "port" town so there is more of a grid pattern with the streets.

Actually, it's neither. To anyone who is/was a native, the preferred pronunciation has always been "NewBREEport"...no "bury" or "berry"...EVAH, lol! And don't forget the "Mall", which is simply pronounced, "Mal".
@@sess122 I agree, born and raised in Newburyport although I live in Nh now. You have both on the nose. All these Newburyport videos seem to have it wrong. I haven't actually looked for NBPT videos but haven't seen any Newbury, West Newbury, Amesbury, or Salisbury videos. If NBPT shows up, why don't they? Newburyport will always be home because I was born there. But I love this whole area of the world. You just can't beat New England It's not perfect but it's the best. Is my opinion bias? Well maybe, TFB.
@@lonelyp1 If I had it to do over again as far as where I grew up and what it was like, I do it exactly the same, and in New'bree'port...just about as perfect a small city there could ever be where everyone knew everyone from one end of the city to the other. Of course, growing up there in the 50s/60s, not long after WW II ended added to the upbeat nature and attitude of people as well. Ironically, my younger brother still lives in the house we grew up in, all those years ago!
