Thank you, Dr. High cholesterol runs in my family and triglycerides run about 300. I don't drink alcohol, avoid sugar, do not eat processed foods. I have been advised to go on Keto but I am A- blood type and alkaline foods are much better for me to digest. I very much like your explanation of glucose and fructose. Am a new subscriber. Keep up the good work!
How do you find out what blood type you are.. I've been doing keto for awhile now, but now my heart is racing all the time and is very uncomfortable.. I wanna switch diets but I don't know what to do because I have pre-diabetes too.
I have the same family high cholesterol. My Dr told me that nothing I do will bring it down because it’s hereditary but I have been working hard on fixing it. I have an intolerance to all meat and hens eggs. I eat quail eggs. Intolerance to gluten and dairy. So at first it was a challenge to find the healthy way to eat but I am now doing really well. Blood pressure was really up as well. I have never drank alcohol used drugs. But did eat too much sugar. So that is out of my diet as well. I’m in my 70s and want to live a lot longer in a healthy way
Thank you SO much. I had a scan that showed fatty liver about 5 years ago. Not a single doctor has explained anything. I asked questions, but no satisfactory answers. I appreciate the specific information.
1) eat vegetables and Leafly greens 2) eat healthy fats. ( Avocados, olives, olive oil, avocado oil ). 3) the frequency on when you eat. Don't eat more than three times a day. 4) avoid sugar, syrups, honey, fruit juice, artificial sweeteners, pasta, bread, starches. 5) eat right type and amount of protein. Avoid whey protein. Excess protein will turn the amino acid into glucose

Perhaps the excess protein I ate converted into fat? I been carnivore for a year
Been taking an extensive supplement regimen and eating a ketogenic diet for 2.5 years since having a quintuple bypass. The blood tests from my last visit to the cardiologist about 2 months ago showed hdl 80, ldl 60, triglycerides 61, glucose 100 and A1c 5.4. By the way I take no prescription drugs.
Fantastic video! Answered all my questions. Thank you! I'm 60 and I've been on paleo AIP for the last year and lost 50 pounds with 30 to go and have done intermittent fasting. My numbers are better and my fatty liver reversed, but my triglycerides are still high and my HDL low. It's clear that I need to drive the carbs down even more and not eat at night. Especially carbs. And reduce the number of insulin spikes during the day. Thanks SO much! Btw I'm also doing a brisk 2 mile walk every day as well. It's all made a huge difference!
I lowered my trigs (sub 60) and raised my HDL (80) on a primarily ANIMAL-based diet high in saturated fat, low in carbs, with plenty of protein, calories and time off from eating. Never felt better. BG, A1C, BP, BF% (23) are all enviable at 53yo.
Dr. Carlos, I have a genetic condition called hemochromatosis which if left unaddressed can cause a whole host of issues including but not limited to: diabetes, liver issues, cancer, etc. It unfortunately is not alerted in routine blood work. Many people through the years have died from cirrhosis of the liver and never really drank because they had undiscovered hemochromatosis. It is most prevalent in people of Celtic backgrounds. I was just wondering if you could maybe do a segment on this condition. I have written to several "doctor" shows to try to see if they would address it but no one seems to care. So many people may have diabetes because they have hemochromatosis and don't realize it and it not being addressed. For anyone reading this, basically your body stores iron. Depending on what genetic combo you have and the foods/alcohol you ingest determines what rate your body stores the iron. I have to have a pint of blood taken out every few months. Believe it is a small price to pay if it means regaining your health. I really hope you will consider doing a video about it.
Great video. I'm tired of certain popularized channels where they are promoting Keto as the solution to health problems including high triglycerides. For my reference, here is a cross-reference to your 5 points: 1. 4:45 Eat bunch of vegetables and bunch of leafy greens (50-70% of the plate) 2. 5:37 Eat healthy fats (like avocado, olives, olive oil...) 3. 7:41 The frequency when you eat 4. 9:48 Avoid sugar, honey, and syrup 5. 12:51 Take care of the right amount of protein that you eat
Lol. That basically is The Keto diet. I follow all these rules, but I just limit my carb intake to about 20 grams per day. Not hard to do because leafy greens don’t have a lot of calories.
Vegetables have carbs but are very low so, he is basically describing a keto diet. I was able to lower my triglycerides to below 100 and raise my HDL to 95.
Thanks for your video. Can you please provide data/research that supports your findings that whey increases TG? I’ve looked at randomized control studies and have not come across anything negative. Infact the studies claim the benefits of TG and cholesterol reduction. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this information. It’s helped me understand how my levels went higher after going 100% plant based. I’m still eating maple syrup, pasta, rice, Ezekiel bread, and potatoes which maybe the culprits.
Natural carbs such as veggies and fruits are excellent. All natural produce as well. Processed flower and other food with chemicals in its ingredients no. Among fruits choose the ones with low fructose. Pay attention to hidden sugar and artificial sugar
I enjoyed/loved the simple explanation very much!! One question, what is the problem of over eating of fat? Where does it go? Harmful for kidney? Thanks!
If your intent is to lose weight, and you have plenty of weight on you already (obese) you will burn the fat that you are consuming, but not the fat that is stores in your adipose tissues.
I read "El Milagro Metabólico" last December and this has literally changed my life. I am following Doctor advises on 70% of "colourful" veggies on my meals, no soda at all (this was difficult for me to change), low carbs and intermitent fasting with 16:8 protocol. I cannot be happier: I lost 17 kgs (by now .... still on my way), my triglicerides are totally under control, as well as my GPT. Still taking metformin (I was diagnosed with insuline resistance in 2018) but on track to remove this condition. Thank you so much for your clear advises, and the way you explain them.
Hello All my blood tests are very good except tryglicerides Sugar blood 89 Cholesterol 200 Liver, kidney all ok Only tryglicerides 260 I don t eat junk food, low sugar Carbs intake 30% Proteins between 20 and 25 % Fats 50 to 55 Strange..
Same condition for me as well 😢... Mention me as well if you find some ways to control TG. I've started quitting carbs and sugar although my BMI is fit
Is natural honey okay? I make coffee in the morning and afternoon with half and half and honey. Which I’d say is better than some of the other flavored creamers out there.
I bought it down to 1.4 from 21 . All I did was eating high fibre food , Eating lemon every day , eating cucumber 🥒 everyday , eating extra vergin olive oil for cooking. Flex seed every day . No red meat at all. I had chicken boiled first . In three months I was able to bring it down .Normal work . And liver is fine, triglyceride is fine , cholesterol is still high but lower than before.
How do I eat 2 times a day and still get all my calories and protein, as someone who goes to the gym often? I have high triglycerides. I heard that was impossible.
No me canso de alargarte y desearte lo mejor, que sigas siempre iluminado de ese brillo personal que irradias. Mil felicitaciones desde Riohacha - La Guajira
Dr Carlos, great informational video - thanks! Wonder what your thoughts would be on some of the research that suggests for people with DM, eating multiple small meals in a day helps keep their spike under control? Thanks
Terrible idea! Want to stop constantly spiking your insulin? Easy answer is STOP eating ALL the dang time!! Limit your meals to ONLY 2 meals per day and NO Snacking! Nope, not even healthy snacks!

Does this mean that I should not have mixed nuts for an afternoon snack as that causes a spike?
Nuts are good just don't eat them with dried fruits because of the sugar in them. That's going to spike your insulin.

Same condition for me as well 😢... Mention me as well if you find some ways to control TG. I've started quitting carbs and sugar although my BMI is fit
I’ve high triglycerides, is drinking squeezed orange juice every morning bad for me?
you need to talk about good carbs...also animal protein raises cholesterol if you are older... so you fix one problem and cause another problem here.
And liver is fine, triglyceride is fine , cholesterol is still high but lower than before.
check your apoB (0.44/ml-0.63/ml) for good measure, as the notion of "high cholesterol" is an oxymoron.
How do I eat 2 times a day and still get all my calories and protein, as someone who goes to the gym often? I have high triglycerides. I heard that was impossible.
how artificial sugar can spike insulin? nonsense
Had US of my liver. No fatty liver but my triglycerides are sky high. What do I do?

Thank you Doctor. Very good information.
The best explanation, thanks.
Nope, not even healthy snacks!
carnivore diet was the ONLY thing that restored my liver.
