James, I don’t know why, but I tie all of my horizontal hooks this way except that I saw one time that my the horizontal hook eyes have a tendency to dig into the mouth of a fish’s mouth where the verticals eye will slip through their mouth easier and cause a miss hook more often!!! This reasoning you share gives another positive chance for a hookup!!! Thank you so much!!
Sorry for the mistake on he wording about the hook eye digging in, had to step away at this point and when I got back to it I guess I f or got exactly where I was in my wording!!!
Here's what I've found..I fish shell beds alot with a football head swing jig and if I tie the jig on like you demonstrated the jig tends to want to dig under the shell if it gets into a bind. If I tie the jig on in the opposite direction, the jig has a much easier time riding up and over the shells when in a bind. Anyways, food for thought.
@jamesniggemeyerfishing Really I think the exact opposite. Maybe I need to experiment around again with the vertical line tie. Hate to bother you James but when you throw a shakey head is it a vertical or horizontal line tie? I'm a weirdo on this subject and never hear guys talk about it. Thanks
I think where I feel it makes a difference is when rigging a drop shot hook to get to tip up. I know you can run the tag end in that facing up fashion even if you use a polymer knot.
Interesting tip, if it gives you confidence it works.
Interesting
Very good information. Never ever thought about that ,
Yah it’s an interesting point to make for sure
I think it makes sense for doing the bottom

Never heard of this one. Going to have to tie two up and see.
It’s something that “could” be a difference maker
Great show I agree and always tie my jigs like that. Except I'm like a horizontal line tie.
👍 I used to, but feel like they catch more debris

Very true that’s a great point!
You should always show the knot up close. Thanks brother
Gotcha next tome
Makes sense
Yah it does but seems easily overlooked
It will make a difference if the knot is tyed behind the hook eye, ie turle knot used on dry flies, maybe worth experimenting 🤔
Never heard of the Turle knot
A good knot is all you need and a bass too eat that jig and it's fish on
Love it when they are on the jig!
