This might be a major hot take, but here I go anyway: I think Sonic CD is actually the most controversial Sonic game of all time. Yes, more controversial than the Adventure games, or Heroes, or even Unleashed. On one side, you have a plethora of people who argue that CD is a masterpiece, one of Sonic's best games, and that people who dislike it only do so because "they're just bad and don't understand the game". And on the opposite side, you have a massive amount of people who argue that Sonic CD is overrated garbage, and was "only liked for how elusive it was". And both groups could provide pretty valid reasons for why they think that way about the game. Almost every aspect about this game has controversy to it. The level design, the newly added gimmicks, the difficulty, the art style, the boss fights, even the damn music is controversial because of the fact that this game has two different soundtracks. This is what makes Sonic CD such a unique game. Whereas most Sonic games can be objectively deemed good or bad in terms of their quality, one's opinion on CD completely comes down to what you personally want out of a Sonic game, and what you're able to tolerate and appreciate.

Exactly! Personally I’d describe the game as a fairly good game I don’t like to play since I think almost everything about it is amazing other than the gameplay which I really don’t like compared to Sonic 3&K and to a little lesser of an extent Sonic 2

Sonic CD is the Mario Sunshine of the Sonic series. It’s pretty fun when you focus on getting to the end. It becomes less fun when you go out of your way to try and 100% it. I’d recommend just going for the time stones since the special stages are some of the best in the entire series.
I didn't start to really get into Sonic CD until I aimed for 100%, the levels are simply built for that kind of playstyle. Every level, to me, feels like Green Hill in Sonic 1. It's a momentum playground.
I fully agree. You (or at least I) usually hear “OMG GUYS SONC CD IS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST” or “Sonic CD is the worst Sonic game ever.” I always personally thought it was an okay Sonic game, with some medium sized flaws.
No not really, most people say it's mid. People that praise it always say that for some reason they like it even though it's not that good. As for people that hate, they say it's the worst of the four mainline titles. (Even though sonic 1 is definitely worse.)
I used to think pretty low of Sonic CD, but only recently did I realize how much it actually offers. The thing about Sonic CD is that it's pretending to be a regular Sonic game when it's actually sort of a mini Metroid-vania in each level. It's counter-intuitive, but if you completely ignore the timer and play *just* to explore and find the Robot Generators in the past, the levels literally become Tony Hawk skateparks. All the random bumpers and springs are there to help you time travel and backtrack in the level. You can get basically anywhere at any point in the level. You can go back to the start from the end most times. It's not perfect. Some levels like Wacky Workbench are still obnoxious, but most fans of Classic Sonic will tell you the fun in those games was finding ways to use your speed and momentum and physics to reach new areas. Sonic CD is entirely that, just pure 2D exploration with Sonic movement.
Theres plenty of ways to time travel in each stage. Your goal in each stage is to hunt down the Robot Generators in each zone's past. (Or you could just collect all 7 timestones which depending on who you are could be easier)

If you look at the bottom and see a P you're in the past, if you see F you're in the future. I also recommend you get the "time stones" as well as the Japanese soundtrack. They feel better than most of the us soundtracks. Past tracks won't change though. Good vid as always Edit: didn't realize future quartz quadrant looks so much like metallic madness. Edit 2: so there's two conditions for a good future, you destroy the badnik machine, or you get all the time stones. And the boss fight against metal sonic, you touch the laser robotnik uses and no matter how many rings you got, it's an instant death.
Eh it’s arguable whether us or jp is better. Personally in my opinion, jp gets the good futures better while the us gets the bad futures better. As well as the US is more atmospheric while the JP is more high energy. I prefer the US but to each their own.

Easily patchable bugs aside, I really am glad people are playing Origins, as it gives new players the opportunity to try out less popular installments like CD and form their own opinions rather than going with the whims of the internet. In recent years people have started to love giving CD shit for being the "weird middle kid" of the classics.

I think Sonic CD was more liked back in the day because it was elusive. Nobody could actually play it so it was really exciting. Now it's readily available and we can all play it and realize it's just ok also since I like answering Choctopus's random questions, I would time travel back to 2017. By far my favorite year, and a lot of it was being because of games. I mean playing breath of the wild while anticipating Mario odyssey was so crazy. To this day those are still my favorite games
I vaguely remembered Sonic CD, now the memory's clear. I seriously might invest in Sonic Origins, it looks amazing. This is going to be mushy, but if I could go back in time to one period, it would be 9 years old, after my niece was born. I still remember the day I met her. She had some breathing problems at birth, and had to stay the first two months of her life in the hospital. There was a PlayStation in the kid's waiting room, and we played Crash Bandicoot:Warped while visiting her. When I finally saw her, my heart was fluttering. She was in an incubator and was wide awake. She held my finger so tightly. 💛😭💛 I remember thinking,"There's something special about her." And she was. She has a special strength in her, a resilience unlike any other person. And she did not have an easy life growing up. Fast forward to today, she is 23, I'm 32, she's holding up well, and we're best friends. We play games together, especially Mario Kart, Minecraft, and Fall Guys. Long nostalgic story, but the memory just overcame me like a waterfall. If you read this whole thing through, thanks. What great memories we can hold in the past, huh? It was because it was so hard to come by that CD was considered a hidden gem of the series. But then it became more widely available. After that, opinions began to change.

Great video! I'm actually the opposite of Choc. I didn't like Sonic CD as a kid and preferred the Genesis Sonic games. However, now it is probably my favorite Sonic game. I didn't understand the time travel mechanic as a kid, but now I know exactly where all the Robot Generators are and how to get them in the Past with no problem. I also like that levels are short and pretty easy so you can blow through the game in easily less than an hour. Some levels in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) just kind of drag on a bit long and get kind of annoying (like Metropolis Zone or Sandopolis Zone). Granted, Sonic CD's level design is probably the weakest of the 16-bit Sonics, I still don't mind it. However, my favorite thing is being able to build your own custom soundtrack (at least in the Sega CD version).
Yeah Sonic CD uses a “treasure hunt/exploration” formula for its stages. They’re easy to complete because you need to get the generators before moving on, in the remake, to get an achievement you also needed to destroy the holograms.
I have the same opinion about CD. Played it on PC as a child. I definitely thought the others were superior, and still do. But replaying it on Origins and actually engaging in the time travel mechanic to get good futures made me appreciate what they were going for. I wish there was actually a tangible benefit for traveling to the future though, aside from a change to the scenery and even less threatening enemies. Future signposts are just an obstacle if you're going for the good ending.
@@SuperSireBoyYT there are exceptions to this, in tidal tempest you're fishing for a past sign, but they rarely give them out, and the only way to get the signs is to get to areas before you fall and get locked out of half the stage. However, the future unblocks these areas and you can get access to more past signs in order to effectively travel to the past with more ease and get the generator.
Honestly, I feel the exact opposite towards CD & 2, I think Sonic 2 is not that good with CD being way better. I find that it was more fun trying to get a good future in both acts & seeing the boss of that zone be set in the good future too. But that's just my personal opinion.

This is such a mixed game for me it has unique gimmicks that are interesting but executed kinda poorly and the level design is kinda a mess when playing it your basically hitting left and right bouncing all over the placing with frustrating placements but the music is debatable for being the best classic sonic music or even any sonic game (mainly the jp soundtrack) if sonic 3 and knuckles exist. I guess I can understand some people like this game but we can all say the environments especially stardust speedway can be beautiful but other than that this game is very close to sonic 1 and it shows a lot with the level design it can feel very frustrating its debatable which is the weakest in the classic sonic series with sonic 1 having slow levels and can be very tiring while sonic cd had a unique concept but not executed well with frustrating level design

Probably darker than you intended but I'd love to go back to any point where my mom was alive - she passed away when I was 16 and getting to spend some more time with her is about the most I could ask for. I'd need to be allowed to come back though, I do like where my life ended up.
I played Sonic CD a few times before in much the same manner you did here. Although, I did want to get to the past in all of them and it proved to be trickier to do than I thought at the time for some levels. Also, I loved K'nex when I was a kid/teen building the rollercoaster, skyscraper things, etc. I was surprised when you made mention of them but those do look like the K'nex rods now that you mention it. I still have all my K'nex I bought over the years! Good times.
I love Dungeon Fighter and I can't lie. Been hooked to it since 2014 and it's my go to pill of destruction and carnage I need after a stressful day of work. But now when Multiversus opens, I'll be at a crossroads of mixed feelings... My copy of SonicCD, I'm going to hug that sucker as it seems that SEGA is on a course of breaking their classics with each iteration.
What I like about about the Classic Sonic games is how they make the bad endings. Including CD. They are like “Your efforts were in vain. You aren’t no hero. You failed to save anyone.” It’s a great gimmick for you to get better at the game since that’s how you get better endings. The only reasoning you couldn’t get the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3 is just because you just are really bad. I get the Super Emeralds but the Chaos Emeralds aren’t really that hard to grab.
@@ghosthuntermike2592 Yeah that’s true. However Sonic 3 And Knuckles all together has seventy seven Giant Rings. Even if you don’t get Hyper Sonic, you will get a good ending but not the best one, which you can come back for later. 11 tries for each Chaos Emerald. Now that Coins exist, you can just keep retrying until you get them. And using debug you can quickly put them to 999. I like that idea since the fail is not a problem. You should be able to memorize where everything is pretty fast. To make it easier you can also get Perfects as that removes all red spheres, giving you plenty of time to react. There’s really no reason why you couldn’t at least get all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3 And Knuckles since it doesn’t require 50 Rings to get to. Sonic 2 has a restart ability so you can just restart the level and grind all the Chaos Emeralds in Emerald Hill Zone Act 1.

@@ghosthuntermike2592 Yeah I admit Blue Spheres is tough the first or maybe second time through. Sonic CD is good since the only problem is when the UFOS move out of your way. Otherwise those are pretty easy, with Sonic 2’s needing memorization. Once you have memorized all the stages like me, you can breeze through them first try. And you feel accomplished and you are rewarded by your skill by best endings. That’s another thing, rewards by skill. Classic Sonic’s speed was reward for skill. Like Super Sonic moves faster than normal Sonic, (Hyper Sonic as well.) but you have to grind for him. Classic Sonic gets slandered because those people who do think the whole Modern Sonic lingo: “I run super fast through levels by holding down a button, and that’s all what Sonic should do.” There really isn’t much incentive to get better other than S Ranks. It’s just “Hold Boost to win.”

0:50 ok time to put on my 🤓 In sonic cd there are two different futures, an bad one (the one you are) is where eggman took over the world and things are bad But if you go to the past and find the robot generator (and destroy it) you will unlock the good ending for the act, if you get the good future for act 1 and 2, act 3's good future is automatically activated, in the good future things are good, sonic modified eggman's tech to help the world, there are no badniks, more rings and more 1-ups, an modified level design, AND AN BANGER MUSIC (if you're playing the jp OST) also, if you get all good futures, you get an different ending, it's hella fun,and it is so cool to search through the stage and explore... besides wacky workbench, they didn't have the right to give the best good future to that stupid stage
It felt pretty great to 100% the game and get the good ending (aside from the 20 tries it took me to get the 5th Time Stone…). I think the weakness of this game is that the levels are designed for you to explore the time posts and find the robot transporters in the past, but they are so punishing and haphazard. Collision Chaos and Wacky Workbench were a nightmare to get through.
Same with the special stages. They weren't much trouble other than the fifth one, which took so many more tries to beat than the others and was terrible to speedrun in time attack mode
@@abra_escaped I still enjoy them more than the Sonic 2 special stages, although I have gotten better at those. I even played Story Mode where I had to have Tails with me, but my reaction time and memorizing some of the ring areas got a little better.
The rubber banding is ass you can be eating dirt for most of it, or being on world record pace and mess up a single time, then die as a result. Should've just had him go a set speed, as the racetrack is just as bad. Random spike traps stopping you because yes.

I'd argue CD actually had the best level design in the series. There's much less bullshit you can't see coming that you have to know what to do before even approaching it (I'm looking at you, Sonic 2!).
@Some Nerd Mania has the best level design. 3&K have several hiccups that make levels less enjoyable to play, most notably in the second half of the game.
Sonic CD has 2 different soundtracks(The Japanese & North American) In the bonus stages you collect time stones not Chaos Emeralds. if you collect all the time stones then you don’t have to worry about going to the past to destroy the generators & holograms because they’re already destroyed. And there’s 2 different endings: the good ending & bad ending. Last thing to say is that there’s also the sound test that gives you access to unlock special pictures and a bonus special stage.
Honestly, in my opinion Sonic cd levels are some of the most amazing sonic levels aesthetically speaking, they just look so majestic and ever since I played this game for the first time they always reminded me of some places I saw irl or in media and that made me want a good future even more. Although I do think that japanese soundtrack is required for that atmosphere and aesthetics, I just feel that JP soundtrack is way better over all and in terms of fitting the level/game atmosphere and telling a story, besides "believe in yourself" is one of the best motivational songs ever and it fits the good ending perfectly, especially the "you’re too cool", I had a similar flower field near my home and seeing this screen was one of those cases that reminded me of places I saw myself, damn this is song is so good I’ve been hearing it in my dreams several times I think. My love for this game is also backed up with the fact that it’s my first 2D Sonic game I played at young age, and before even knowing about Sonic CD I watched Sonic OVA which has similar style and aesthetic.

Silver Sonic was never an official name. It came from comics. Mecha was always his official name. The concept art for Mecha shows he was intended to look like Mechagodzilla hence why he's silver: he has an MS monogram on his shoulder like Mechagodzilla's MG monogram. Mk II was clearly a new version of the Sonic 2 boss considering how similar they are.

Origins is the collection that made me like sonic CD, also i usually play with genesis spindash & the japanese soundtrack, right now i still hate looking for the badnik generators in from wacky workbench onward because first it's always at or atleast near the top route, but when you get to wacky workbench it's suddenly always either at or near the bottom path, & the things that look like the sonic 1 final zone things look like they can crush you, but they can't & 1 of them is needed for reaching a back in generator, also alsothere are 2 ways of getting the good ending, eituer destroying every single badnik generator or getting all the time stones (metal sonic is just for completion i guess), also also also (last time in this comment)for some reason the past of each zone are the only tracks JP & US shared
The only things I like about Sonic CD are the music, the introduction of Amy & Metal Sonic, the FMV's, and Stardust Speedway. The level design and bosses are absolutely awful.
A good tip for anyone who’s new to CD, you can time travel a bit easier if you spin dash then jump onto a spring that’s by a wall, since the spring will somehow maintain your momentum

Time stones are always easier IMO, only have to go out of your way to do it 7 times and the special stages are pretty decent

I think Sonic CD was more liked back in the day because it was elusive. Nobody could actually play it so it was really exciting. Now it's readily available and we can all play it and realize it's just ok
also since I like answering Choctopus's random questions, I would time travel back to 2017. By far my favorite year, and a lot of it was being because of games. I mean playing breath of the wild while anticipating Mario odyssey was so crazy. To this day those are still my favorite games

I vaguely remembered Sonic CD, now the memory's clear. I seriously might invest in Sonic Origins, it looks amazing.
This is going to be mushy, but if I could go back in time to one period, it would be 9 years old, after my niece was born.
I still remember the day I met her. She had some breathing problems at birth, and had to stay the first two months of her life in the hospital. There was a PlayStation in the kid's waiting room, and we played Crash Bandicoot:Warped while visiting her.
When I finally saw her, my heart was fluttering. She was in an incubator and was wide awake. She held my finger so tightly. 💛😭💛 I remember thinking,"There's something special about her." And she was. She has a special strength in her, a resilience unlike any other person. And she did not have an easy life growing up.
Fast forward to today, she is 23, I'm 32, she's holding up well, and we're best friends. We play games together, especially Mario Kart, Minecraft, and Fall Guys.
Long nostalgic story, but the memory just overcame me like a waterfall.

It was because it was so hard to come by that CD was considered a hidden gem of the series. But then it became more widely available. After that, opinions began to change.

Great video! I'm actually the opposite of Choc. I didn't like Sonic CD as a kid and preferred the Genesis Sonic games. However, now it is probably my favorite Sonic game. I didn't understand the time travel mechanic as a kid, but now I know exactly where all the Robot Generators are and how to get them in the Past with no problem. I also like that levels are short and pretty easy so you can blow through the game in easily less than an hour. Some levels in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 (& Knuckles) just kind of drag on a bit long and get kind of annoying (like Metropolis Zone or Sandopolis Zone). Granted, Sonic CD's level design is probably the weakest of the 16-bit Sonics, I still don't mind it.
However, my favorite thing is being able to build your own custom soundtrack (at least in the Sega CD version).
Yeah Sonic CD uses a “treasure hunt/exploration” formula for its stages. They’re easy to complete because you need to get the generators before moving on, in the remake, to get an achievement you also needed to destroy the holograms.
You're missing a big part of the game. Destroying the robot generators in the past or collecting all of the Time Stones.

I have the same opinion about CD. Played it on PC as a child. I definitely thought the others were superior, and still do. But replaying it on Origins and actually engaging in the time travel mechanic to get good futures made me appreciate what they were going for. I wish there was actually a tangible benefit for traveling to the future though, aside from a change to the scenery and even less threatening enemies. Future signposts are just an obstacle if you're going for the good ending.

@@SuperSireBoyYT there are exceptions to this, in tidal tempest you're fishing for a past sign, but they rarely give them out, and the only way to get the signs is to get to areas before you fall and get locked out of half the stage. However, the future unblocks these areas and you can get access to more past signs in order to effectively travel to the past with more ease and get the generator.

Honestly, I feel the exact opposite towards CD & 2, I think Sonic 2 is not that good with CD being way better. I find that it was more fun trying to get a good future in both acts & seeing the boss of that zone be set in the good future too. But that's just my personal opinion.
The bosses in CD feel more like gimmick puzzles then just hit Eggman.

This is such a mixed game for me it has unique gimmicks that are interesting but executed kinda poorly and the level design is kinda a mess when playing it your basically hitting left and right bouncing all over the placing with frustrating placements but the music is debatable for being the best classic sonic music or even any sonic game (mainly the jp soundtrack) if sonic 3 and knuckles exist. I guess I can understand some people like this game but we can all say the environments especially stardust speedway can be beautiful but other than that this game is very close to sonic 1 and it shows a lot with the level design it can feel very frustrating its debatable which is the weakest in the classic sonic series with sonic 1 having slow levels and can be very tiring while sonic cd had a unique concept but not executed well with frustrating level design

You can always check which time period you’re in with the Lives Counter (classic mode) or Coins Counter (anniversary mode). P for Past, F for Future

I played Sonic CD a few times before in much the same manner you did here. Although, I did want to get to the past in all of them and it proved to be trickier to do than I thought at the time for some levels. Also, I loved K'nex when I was a kid/teen building the rollercoaster, skyscraper things, etc. I was surprised when you made mention of them but those do look like the K'nex rods now that you mention it. I still have all my K'nex I bought over the years! Good times.
I absolutely loved Playing Sonic CD on my IPad so much back then.
If i could time travel, i would go back to when i was 7 before i knew about taxes.

What I like about about the Classic Sonic games is how they make the bad endings. Including CD. They are like “Your efforts were in vain. You aren’t no hero. You failed to save anyone.” It’s a great gimmick for you to get better at the game since that’s how you get better endings.
The only reasoning you couldn’t get the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3 is just because you just are really bad. I get the Super Emeralds but the Chaos Emeralds aren’t really that hard to grab.
Blue Spheres are just tedious and it kinda sucks that your entire run falls apart when you mess up once.
@@ghosthuntermike2592 Yeah that’s true. However Sonic 3 And Knuckles all together has seventy seven Giant Rings. Even if you don’t get Hyper Sonic, you will get a good ending but not the best one, which you can come back for later. 11 tries for each Chaos Emerald. Now that Coins exist, you can just keep retrying until you get them. And using debug you can quickly put them to 999. I like that idea since the fail is not a problem. You should be able to memorize where everything is pretty fast.
To make it easier you can also get Perfects as that removes all red spheres, giving you plenty of time to react. There’s really no reason why you couldn’t at least get all the Chaos Emeralds in Sonic 3 And Knuckles since it doesn’t require 50 Rings to get to. Sonic 2 has a restart ability so you can just restart the level and grind all the Chaos Emeralds in Emerald Hill Zone Act 1.
@@georgeshaw4017 I appreciate the amount of chances, and you can always just quit the stage and try again with the special stages. I just prefer the UFO in CD or even the halfpipe.
@@ghosthuntermike2592 Yeah I admit Blue Spheres is tough the first or maybe second time through. Sonic CD is good since the only problem is when the UFOS move out of your way. Otherwise those are pretty easy, with Sonic 2’s needing memorization. Once you have memorized all the stages like me, you can breeze through them first try. And you feel accomplished and you are rewarded by your skill by best endings. That’s another thing, rewards by skill. Classic Sonic’s speed was reward for skill. Like Super Sonic moves faster than normal Sonic, (Hyper Sonic as well.) but you have to grind for him. Classic Sonic gets slandered because those people who do think the whole Modern Sonic lingo: “I run super fast through levels by holding down a button, and that’s all what Sonic should do.” There really isn’t much incentive to get better other than S Ranks. It’s just “Hold Boost to win.”

In sonic cd there are two different futures, an bad one (the one you are) is where eggman took over the world and things are bad
But if you go to the past and find the robot generator (and destroy it) you will unlock the good ending for the act, if you get the good future for act 1 and 2, act 3's good future is automatically activated, in the good future things are good, sonic modified eggman's tech to help the world, there are no badniks, more rings and more 1-ups, an modified level design, AND AN BANGER MUSIC (if you're playing the jp OST) also, if you get all good futures, you get an different ending, it's hella fun,and it is so cool to search through the stage and explore... besides wacky workbench, they didn't have the right to give the best good future to that stupid stage

It felt pretty great to 100% the game and get the good ending (aside from the 20 tries it took me to get the 5th Time Stone…). I think the weakness of this game is that the levels are designed for you to explore the time posts and find the robot transporters in the past, but they are so punishing and haphazard. Collision Chaos and Wacky Workbench were a nightmare to get through.
Same with the special stages. They weren't much trouble other than the fifth one, which took so many more tries to beat than the others and was terrible to speedrun in time attack mode
@@abra_escaped I still enjoy them more than the Sonic 2 special stages, although I have gotten better at those. I even played Story Mode where I had to have Tails with me, but my reaction time and memorizing some of the ring areas got a little better.
Whether you like Sonic CD or not, we all can agree on one thing:
The fight with Metal Sonic is too good.

I'd argue CD actually had the best level design in the series. There's much less bullshit you can't see coming that you have to know what to do before even approaching it (I'm looking at you, Sonic 2!).
@Some Nerd Mania has the best level design. 3&K have several hiccups that make levels less enjoyable to play, most notably in the second half of the game.

Sonic CD has 2 different soundtracks(The Japanese & North American)
In the bonus stages you collect time stones not Chaos Emeralds. if you collect all the time stones then you don’t have to worry about going to the past to destroy the generators & holograms because they’re already destroyed.
And there’s 2 different endings: the good ending & bad ending.
Last thing to say is that there’s also the sound test that gives you access to unlock special pictures and a bonus special stage.

Honestly, in my opinion Sonic cd levels are some of the most amazing sonic levels aesthetically speaking, they just look so majestic and ever since I played this game for the first time they always reminded me of some places I saw irl or in media and that made me want a good future even more.
Although I do think that japanese soundtrack is required for that atmosphere and aesthetics, I just feel that JP soundtrack is way better over all and in terms of fitting the level/game atmosphere and telling a story, besides "believe in yourself" is one of the best motivational songs ever and it fits the good ending perfectly, especially the "you’re too cool", I had a similar flower field near my home and seeing this screen was one of those cases that reminded me of places I saw myself, damn this is song is so good I’ve been hearing it in my dreams several times I think.
My love for this game is also backed up with the fact that it’s my first 2D Sonic game I played at young age, and before even knowing about Sonic CD I watched Sonic OVA which has similar style and aesthetic.

Silver Sonic was never an official name. It came from comics. Mecha was always his official name. The concept art for Mecha shows he was intended to look like Mechagodzilla hence why he's silver: he has an MS monogram on his shoulder like Mechagodzilla's MG monogram. Mk II was clearly a new version of the Sonic 2 boss considering how similar they are.
You can tell which era you are in by looking at your life counter. P for past, F for Future, and nothing for present.

Origins is the collection that made me like sonic CD, also i usually play with genesis spindash & the japanese soundtrack, right now i still hate looking for the badnik generators in from wacky workbench onward because first it's always at or atleast near the top route, but when you get to wacky workbench it's suddenly always either at or near the bottom path, & the things that look like the sonic 1 final zone things look like they can crush you, but they can't & 1 of them is needed for reaching a back in generator, also alsothere are 2 ways of getting the good ending, eituer destroying every single badnik generator or getting all the time stones (metal sonic is just for completion i guess), also also also (last time in this comment)for some reason the past of each zone are the only tracks JP & US shared

The only things I like about Sonic CD are the music, the introduction of Amy & Metal Sonic, the FMV's, and Stardust Speedway.

A good tip for anyone who’s new to CD, you can time travel a bit easier if you spin dash then jump onto a spring that’s by a wall, since the spring will somehow maintain your momentum
