I sew everything on a dusty pink version of your grandmothers sewing machine. It works better than any new machine I have used. It comes with an assortment of different stitches, has a gorgeous satin stitch, its quiet, little to no vibration, and its super easy to work on so I do all my adjustments and repairs myself. I wouldn't trade it for a computerized machine to save my life. I also have the Innovation Disney edition, and it has given me more grief than I care to admit. I have about 10 machines in all, and I do love my Kenmore the best. You cant kill them. Kenmore made a list of machines that were tagged by different merchants. In your granny's case, Zenith... they sold electronics back in the day. If I were you, I would set that machine in a table and use it. Its awesome, and you will never hurt it!
What a great sewing room! You have a lot of tips that I am going to implement into my own sewing room. Your grandmother is a very talented woman! My daughter is currently pregnant and due July, and I don’t know what the baby will be but I hope it’s a girl so I can teach her to sew like my grandmother taught me. ❤
Love how you organize your sewing space! I will probably keep my sewing room, minimalist as possible, one project at time! Maybe I can keep 2 to 3 kinds of fabric in my shelf and once I get done with those that's the only time I'll buy another so that I will not stock it in my shelf! I will follow how you organize your room, perfectly done! Love it!
Thank you Tamara. What great inspiration. I have the same Brother Innovis machine. I love the way you’re honoring your grandparents and other family by using and displaying their things. ❤
So wonderful, great information and ideas also a pleasure to see your ideas. Could you please tell me what kind of sewing chair you use? I am try ING to decide on one, thank you, Robin Lee Wilson
What was above your cutting table? It looked like you had a light but also to the left and right of it some kind of deflector that angled to the table top. Thank you for sharing you sewing room.
can't comment on the stuck in reverse electronic maching, know nothing about them, for the kenmore only sews forward, guessing there's dirt/ lint blocking the connection or a piece snapped off. when i had a mechanical machine stuck in reverse, it just needed a spray with jig a goo, sat with time to activate & loosen. sweet little room
Thanks for that suggestion Anna!!!!! I took the entire machine apart and cleaned out the dust. But oddly I never even considered that it would need oiling!!!! How embarrassing. I am going to try that now!
I’m new to sewing fairly and have picked it up quick. My moms a seamstress so I’ve watched her for more than 30 years. I own a thrift store and started by doing simple alterations on my items to be able to sell them. My sewing stuff is absolutely DISORGANIZED. I’ve got some new wire shelves and I’m thinking of converting a jewelry cabinet into a sewing cabinet. I really appreciate ya doing these videos to help us ❤
Fantastic tour. Love your sewing room. Mine is a small but well appointed space also. Didn't know you could get table risers! Under my table looks a bit like yours but I've no skirt! Lol. I've subscribed. Thank you 😊 . Iris
Thank you Iris! It sure is nice to have a dedicated work space hey?! I highly recommend the table skirt!!!! Then you can hide your mess and pretend you are organized lol! At least that's what I do.
Hi thank you so much for your video ❤ I'm from Europe and have no idea 🙈 what comic book boards are (maybe its just me 🤷🏽♀️), please could you elaborate on this?
I’m new to your channel. I have started making junk journals and love it but I also want to begin sewing more things. I’m a beginner at sewing but I have a beautiful sewing machine that is somewhat complicated (because I get excited and buy stuff). It is a Jansen I think. I am retired but wow time does fill up. I plan to watch your videos to learn. By the way, just wondering, are you Canadian? I live in Ontario and it is good to have one items priced Canadian at times.
I am so sorry Angela! That holder is a heavy marble utensil holder I found at my local Home Sense. It is something I can't link to but if you look around I am sure you can find something similar. Just make sure it is heavy so it won't tip over if you fill it with taller items like long scissors.
Tamara, I love it. Can you come help me? LOL Just kidding. My room is an absolute mess. I want to get it like yours. Your grandma obviously saw the talent in you. How do you storage unfinished projects? Should they be by season ? i alsohave another question. I am working on cardboard folding and have a huge wall unit with doors. How do you think I can use that? Thanks
Ha Ha! Thanks Lutisha! I can't seem to enjoy sewing when my room is a mess. I just did a video about WIPS where I talk more about how I store them: ruclips.net/video/ll5rEQ3f9F0/видео.html As for the unit with doors sounds like a great way to have your comic book board fabric stored. I would suggest placing them like you would a book. Happy Organizing!
Sorry. Another quick question. The things you have stored in bins (that you can’t see-through) is it hard to forget about them? Out of sight, out of mind. If I can’t actually see my pretty things I don’t know where they are and forget I have.
Hi Janet. That would be the case except that I have each bin labeled in the top corner so I know what is in each bin. The only one that has items I may forget about is my craft bin because it’s a bit of a catch all bin 🫣
Yes! I fully agree. I keep my thread that I don’t use on a regular basis in my sewing box. I keep the colors I use all the time out but I figure they won’t be hit by much light before I get to them.
U didnt show an up close on the clips that u suggest for beginners. I also couldn’t find a link for any in the description. Could u post it in the comments?
Hi the last of the embroideries from your grandma is from a tales named "Nico goes to the hospital" and i have it since i was a child more than 40 years ago. I would like to take a picture of it and send to You to see that tales. Do You have any email for me to send it? Cheers.
That's amazing!!!!!!! Those are my favorite and I must admit it makes me happy to know the name of the set. Thanks so much for sharing that with me :) If you want to send me a photo you can send it to create@tamarasjoy.com I would love to see them!
Oh i was Soo close to my own studio but after the youngest moved out the daughter-in-law decided to divorce the son... So I'm in a holding pattern for a few months 😢
@@TamarasJoyDIY getting closer thanks but it's turned into a blessing since I get to see my grandson much more and he inspires me to sew all kinds of fun baby items. He absolutely loves the soft blocks I make him. ♥️

I have been watching a ton of organization videos. We are turning one of our small bedrooms into a sewing room. Yours was one of the best. Thank-you!
You must be so excited! I am organizing my space today. Just went to Home Depot and got some things. Good luck!
That is awesome! So glad I could be of some help!
Thanks for the furniture risers & stiletto tips! The yellow dots on your sewing seams are so easy to to understand. Well done!
Thank you Diane :)

I need a tutorial on your table skirt!!! Fun video!! 🪡🧵
I'm so glad you said that Kathy! I wasn't sure if it was worth a tutorial. But if you are asking then I think I will have to make that happen.
Beautiful and well organized!

Oh! I have the same set of embroidered bunnies. I did them for my children 40 years ago. 🐰🐰🐰

Great sewing room. Where did the little red case come 0:00 from? The one on your hope chest. Thanks for the tour.

It's such a great way to be able to use up all your fabrics hey?!
I reeeeally love your shirt! Could you please share where you found it? Great sewing room!
Thank you! I wish I could share a link with you but sadly that shirt I bought years ago at Winners.

Very nice tour thank you got some ideas now. Tamara have You sen that martingale books are selling out because they are closing?
Thanks so much Gisela! I hadn't heard that. I will have to check them out.

I didn't realize I hadn't linked to those. I have added them to the description now. Happy Sewing!
I have 4x’s the amount. That’s where I get very disoriented when it comes time to organize. Any suggestions?
That is a great problem to have! If you don’t want to forget what you have perhaps you could put the items in plastic bins so you could still see it?
@@TamarasJoyDIY thank you……
Self-healing mat? My mat seems full of “ruts” should I trash it?
Hi Charlene, at a certain point I would update your matt. But they all like to say they are self healing. Eventually they all seem to need replacing.
How about a sewing machine cover for that pretty stash, you’ll see it everyday!
Ooohh...yes, that is on my to do list! Great idea Diane!
Lab your bins this way if you are getting organic
Where did you get the dresser..
Hi Sophie, I have a friend who takes old furniture and refreshes them with new legs and paint. She did such a great job hey!?! I love it!

where did you get your sewing stiletto?
It’s the Tula pink stiletto, I got it off Amazon. You can find them at local quilt shops too.
Loved the tour. If I had a projects bin it would need to be the size of your closet. I need to sew more and dream less.
😂 well to be honest it’s where a few planned projects go. The rest are strewn everywhere☺️ dreaming is the fun part😍
