Spectacular work. To have all the tools and supplies to do this kind of repair is awesome. You're an artist and gifted machinist!
It's great to see this ingenious repair to an otherwise irreparable, rare and expensive crankshaft!
Your beautifully devised, engineered and installed components ensure that this crankshaft can now return the bike to the road.
As a former motorcycle mechanic and motorcycle workshop owner I respect your high standards of workmanship and very well equipped workshop.
Thanks
Both sides of crankcsse beaten to death and intelligently and skilfully saved at last.Good job.
Thanks.
Oh my God! That's absolutely brilliant, great work...
Interesting technique. I used to turn back to clean steel and build it up with a type of rod called “ machineoweld” as I recall, then cut new threads. This looks strong and no heat affected zone.
Thanks
A real engineer at work ,great skills 👍
Thanks
Perfect workmanship. The best of the best.
I had a similar problem on a Norton International crank, but luckily it wasn't quite as bad and i could turn back to round and pick up the original thread again. Customer was virtually in tears (of joy) when i fixed it.
Super .
Definitely thinking outside of the box. Great way to repair a hard to find crank.
Thanks.
Lol, I always thought there was a high precision method used in trueing a crank, glad to see the old faithful hammer is that method :)
Same here.. 🤣

Great way of doing it. Can’t wait for the day I get a lath and milling machine. Happy days
Thanks
I'm missing like the middle threads on a crank, had to cut the nut off. I'm thinking I'm going to try and weld onto it and recut the threads. It will either work or it will still be unusable
I lost my temper once with a cr 125 crank, when I was younger and didn’t know better 😂. Would have loved to have known you at the time. I had to buy a new crank.
You will use it in the future.
@@PaulXchannel were your location
dont understand why many trueing a crank with indicators direkt over the resting point, they need to be as far away as possible from eachother, extremely wrong can look good on the indicators
Exactly correct..
Not only that, all he had to do is re-cut the threads, and you can do that without taking the crank apart.
Normiewho why not make things complicated it on can. Most of the audience won't know anyway...
Yes deflection will be at minimum over resting point. To get the greatest distance it would be best to rest at the outer edges of the crank and measure at bearing location, that will give you the maximum deflection distance.
Nice work, thank,s
You are simply great!
The effort and patience you put on is simply amazing!
I wish i had somebody like you back in my country!
Thanks
Great content man, but it appears your mill and lathe both need some PM. The runout and lack of precision of those machines blows my mind
Good job. Lot of work though for a relatively cheap bike.
Thanks.
It was a help for beginning moto biker.
how Nweton meter your crank saf?
Figuring in shop time it's cheaper to buy a new crank but nice repair work.
Thanks
This is great job
I have to say
I wouldn't leave the house except to go to the garage to work with these wonderful machines
at this point there would be no reason to leave the garage!
sorry honey...
Thanks! Nice job, weird, but nice job anyway!
Damn bro...your talent knows no bounds ... never seen anything like this 😍🔝
Thanks for watching
Great mechanical engineering👍. I like it and inspiring
Thanks.
Центровка сделана не убедительно :( Вы измеряете круглость цапф и радиальное биение подшипников а не соосность поверхностей цапф.
I think the coast of the repair is =or+ than new crankshaft
It’s great job .
Thanks
Cara vc é bom demais....que trabalho excelente parabéns pelo seu conhecimento. E profissionalismo...
Did not look centered to me in the end
Love your balancing tool.. 👍👍
How much would a job like this cost? If you would do it or if someone else would i just figured i ask becasue you have an idea of the work that goes into doing this
How much force is such a Dowell pin capable of withstanding?
Is it possible to press fit 2 50cc crackshafts together and lock them in place using a 4mm Dowell?
I am building a twin and this looks like a neath way of connecting the 2.
I want to 'hide' the Dowell under one of the bearings for added structure..
Precise execution possible. It takes a lot of experience. Congratulation :).
Thanks.
Your work is incredible man! Love the videos
Thanks
Excellent job. Thank u.
j adore ce boulot c est ca que je veux faire
Nice Good Information
Thanks
They beat the crapp out of that thing !
Nice work, in a way. But I definitly do not agree on the pins!! You could have it more tight and use Loctite...
The hexagon nut lifts the threaded pin without the locking pin.
The Loctite have don't so power.
It work well.
You decreased the strength of all shaft.
No kidding...this guy is a complete idiot.
Not to mention the lack of proper heat treatment of the added threaded shafts and nuts. My main concern would be on the Rotor(flywheel) side.
Do you do repairs for people?
Looks good. But couple of questions, 1) did you end up heat treating those threaded rods and nuts? 2) why didn’t your cut off those damaged threaded and drill a shallow centre hole and weld new threaded rod and chase with a die? Would that’ve been easier than pressing and pinning? And wouldn’t have had to cut a key way?
Hi thanks.
Material of new thread pins and nuts - 42crmo4+qt - hardened steel.
Welding of engine parts is not a good way.
@@PaulXchannel I like these spec's. Was concerned of otherwise non heat treated materials here.
How much you charge for a crankshaft repair?
Trabalho magnífico de profissional inteligente!
just one word!! Wonderful..thx
Thanks
beautiful work.....a replacement crankshaft for this item can be found on ebay for $100 .... your cost of raw stock to do the repair is about $2 .... but your labor must be between 2 to 6 hours ..... is it economical for the customer to repair crankshafts on items like this?
Thanks.
It's a hobby.
Free for a friend.
If only somone would have taken it apart correctly......
Nice work Paul but for me i prefer to true up a crank between centres so would need to machine the od of the material to make sure its concentric to the centre hole....just a small thing apart from that found your video interesting
Thank you very much.
This is one way of repairing
crankshaft.
I will do a different way to repair in future videos.
I might have been tempted to omit the centre drilling altogether so as to not confuse the next person truing up the shaft.
Interesting repair idea. But since you had to make new threaded sections for both side, why not make totally new inserts with the threaded section and not just inserted parts. Seems like making the thread parts was harder then making new parts with threads cut on those new parts. IDK, just asking... Thumbs Up!
Hi thanks. There are many ways to fix this. I will show more in future videos.
OMG...Hammer on crankshaft....My God...Never,ever this service and repair,only in Vietnam,India,Bangladesh...Will be broken soon!Never doo this!No way!
Don't be an idiot, everybody uses a brass hammer, vice and v wedge to true a crank.
Love your work. The whole deal from an engineering side and technical expertise of the presentation. Music was terrific
Thanks
@@PaulXchannel i agree, only I couldnt stand the music
WTF mind blown 🤯

Zastanawia mnie pomiar bicia w mieiscu podparcia wału?nie sprawdzałem ale wydaje się że zawsze wyjdzie na zero?
Lol , the dial gauges are running almost on top of the rollers ! You aren’t measuring how much runout the crank has , you are measuring how oval the journals are . The rollers need to be much wider ( like on the threads ) , but I doubt they are true enough to do that .
Thanks for opinion.
Some manuals actually specify where the rollers and dial gauge should be placed , but generally the further apart , the more accurate the reading
@@grantfuller2016 I know but on left side is groove and in right side is the taper with groove.

Не вопрос! При хорошем оборудовании можно сделать много всяких деталей, но зачем терять время на стандартные гайки продающиеся в любом магазине запчастей?!
Where did you find the keyway mill ?
Professional work! I'd never seen a crankshaft holder for balance like yours. Where in can buy one?

The holder is homemade.

Hi Paul X, what is the acceptable runout for the DT125 crankshaft? If I'm not mistaken, I saw about 0.03mm when you were done. I'm about to try and align a crankshaft myself. Thanks
Optimum deviation on undamaged crankshaft up to 0.02

Un lavoro esagerato....solitamente si riporta materiale con saldatura e si rifletta. Così ha anche indebolito la struttura stessa Dell albero..
Whoever did the initial damage deserves to be publicly suspended by their privates. It does show the importance of having the correct tools to dismantle things.

There's no substitute for accurate machining, and this video is no substitute for it either! You need to dial in your lathe tailstock so that it is concentric to the chuck for starters, then ensure that your drill bits are properly and accurately ground, you must have at least 0.5mm (20 thou. If you are a Yank) runout on each main journal.
Once the engine is rebuilt the best you could do is donate it to a lonely lady for vibratory purposes.
If, however you are a very young lad just starting out then good on you for trying!
OK.
I promise to i improve.

Paul,
if my comment appeared to be overly snarky then I half apologise. I have made all the same mistakes as you and was justly called out for them. At the time those comments hurt a lot, but I realised that without that outside input I would continue to make the same mistakes.
Happy machining for the future!
