    Having visited Fort Jefferson I feel like I missed something by not going to this fort. Do you know why they buried all the cannons in the walls of the fort?

      When they expanded the fort, they used whatever they had as fill in the newly constructed walls. With these cannon being obsolete by this time, they just used them as fill material.
