I think the cartel took Marty for exactly the reasons it played out to be. Obviously if there was reason to kill Marty, they would have done it. But the took him a) to make everyone realise how much they needed him and have a renewed respect for him and b) the refocus Marty, he was just coasting and needed a kick up the ass.
I dont see Wendy in danger at all whatsoever she can always go back to being just behind the scenes and taking care of the family she isnt doing anything wrong other than creating MORE work for the person that IS RESPONSIBLE and is at risk and thats Marty. Marty messes up he and his family dies, if Wendy messes up, Marty fixes it or They die. She can just chill and stop digging deeper holes FOR MARTY to have to deal with. Marty is the one that decides the fate of the family.
I gotta admit the first three episodes this season made me question if Marty was the weakest link. I mean, did the show really need him? lol Wendy and Helen were emerging as the new power couple. And then this episode happens and completely made me change my thinking. That's brilliant writing.

Then when Wendy pushed him to go for this idea he pushed back because he knew what heat it'd put on them in the short term even Wendy was right about the long term benefits he just wasn't willing to take the chance.
If it wasn't for the red flag incident, Marty wouldn't have proved that he's more valuable alive! Marty is clearly the smartest one out of all of them. And now the cartel knows that! The cartel wanted to toughen Marty up. Because he was spying on his wife and that showed a sign of weakness. Because they know that fear can cause people to do crazy things! So the kidnapping is a wakeup call to all of them!

Nikki... As a kid, to get me to eat my rice, for breakfast, my mother would call it maggots and only then I would eat it... She got called into the school once because I said I "ate maggots for breakfast"... My mother had to explain to everyone that she called the rice "maggots" so I that would eat my breakfast... She is a lovely woman and made sure I had three hot meals a day, no matter what... Too bad I caused her more pain over subsequent years... Helen stated to Marty that she saw the FBI warrant and that it was the blowing up of the other casino by Marty and the KC mob that triggered the warrant, not the purchase of the other casino. So Steve when you put the blame on Wendy and Helen, you seem a little bias against the strong women on the show (keep an eye on that Nikki). The fact is, as they say in South Carolina, "that dog won't hunt".
Ditto to Michael Dilley's comment. The finale is absolutely insane!!!! The only equal to the Ozark finale is the recent Better Call Saul finale. Yikes😵👍
