Yes Charvaka was/were really straightforward and fearless about his/their opinions 😀😀 But some other schools of thought did offer quite good counter arguments! We will be sharing those too in our upcoming videos on other philosophies of India! 😀😀
Now this is one of my favourite educational channel after I've discovered such an amazing educational channel offering knowledge with animation, making it interesting ❤❤❤
tremendous thanks for your work, these types of obscure knowledge are difficult to find in the west, and you just made them available for free with a wonderfully animated scene, that's beyond fantastic
That is the mission of our channel 😇😇 the thousands of years of Indian civilization has generated a very diverse set of thoughts, very rich history, and amazingly varied literature. But when we think of Indian subcontinent, only a handful of things come to our mind. Our goal is to change that 🙂🙂🙂
Charvaka philosophy actually didn't lack to touch upon Morality, Empathy and Ethics but it is generally overlooked. The philosophy indoctrinated emphasis on the following methods to reflect upon our morality/ethics; - Our immediate senses, such as observation of our actual environment, are used in direct perception of what is right and wrong. - Logical inference used to come up with other concepts we are familiar with, such as common sense. The intellectual and empathic knowledge of ideas within a concept is what justifies intuition. - The justification of actions must be from an offshoot of something universally accepted, such as the current date and year. About the "Purpose in life"; I believe it cannot be a provision of a philosophy since anything anybody claims about it is subjective and individually perceived and the purpose is really what YOU give to your life. The philosophy which doesn't touch upon it is better than serving man-made half-baked falsehood like the concepts or heaven/hell/nirvana/rebirth etc.
If someone says this today, they are labelled as librandu and anti-hindu. While at the same time Charvaka philosophy is considered an important part of Hinduism.
@@Glimpses It was suggested to me by youtube actually. I have recently become interested in Philosophy & started watching some videos. Yours was also suggested to me.

God is a heavily debated topic in Indian Philosophy. There have been many perspectives about what God is - Ishwar/Purush/Niyati etc have been suggested as drivers of the universe. Interesting definitions and arguments are found. Irrespective of whether we believe them or not, they're worth exploring and studying! At Glimpses we aim to do just that! 🙂🙂

Yes! But Charvaka highlights that it's created without needing a creator, so as to counter Nyaya Philosopher's argument or logic for the existence of God.
What if we are just in super tech computer like in a video game 😂 and just like how game characters or ai can't go out of their systems to meet their creators maybe we can't do the same so living and thinking about the materialistic world only makes sense 😂
Yes we will also be making videos on Philosophies that were theist. However Charvaka, Budhhists, etc are some that showcases the diversity of thought in ancient Indian philosophical systems
If you believe in God, it should be based on rationality and if you reject the God it should also be based on rationality not on mere belief. That's true! In India differences were usually resolved through debates or 'Shastrarth' rather than violent. Unlike west where inquisitions, crusades, or 'Mihna' against infidels/kafirs decreed elimination of opposite views. Perhaps polytheism of East offered a room for various faiths to coexist. We will be covering other atheistic Indian philosophies too in future, such as Ajivika & Samkhya (debatably atheistic) 😀🙂
Hello @basantprasadsgarden8365 Charvaks remained a well known philosophy, apprantly till 14th century, when Vidyaranya swami composed Sarva Darshana Samgraha and mentioned the Charvakas in it. But thereafter we don't see it's mentions much. It is possible that, as mentioned in the video, Charvaka philosophy lacked the aspects such as purpose of life, hope or respite from miseries of life, which other philosophies offered. There are no stories, poems, songs associated to this philosophy which helps any school of thought get popularized among the masses. Thus, it appears that Charvaka Philosophy faded into obscurity with the passage of time.
Once a believer asked an atheist- "You said that every belief is acover up for insecurities. " Atheist- "Yes" Beliver- "Do you truly believe that?" Atheist- "Yes" Beliver- "Thank You🙏"
Everyone is insecure, yes. But very few are courageous enough to demand evidence even if that means unpalatable consequences. They won't believe any bullshit if there is no good, convincing evidence for it. Carvaka was that courageous person amongst a cotorie of cowards who were still searching for afterlife after death. Better to turn to dust as a courageous thinker than to sh*t your pants everytime you think of not existing after 100 years.
Charvaka has been countered and then those counters have been countered by Charvaka and so on... We will see more of them soon in our upcoming videos! 🙂😊
