  • @raghavendra6774
    @raghavendra6774 Год назад +18

    Charvaka philosophy actually didn't lack to touch upon Morality, Empathy and Ethics but it is generally overlooked.
    The philosophy indoctrinated emphasis on the following methods to reflect upon our morality/ethics;
    - Our immediate senses, such as observation of our actual environment, are used in direct perception of what is right and wrong.
    - Logical inference used to come up with other concepts we are familiar with, such as common sense. The intellectual and empathic knowledge of ideas within a concept is what justifies intuition.
    - The justification of actions must be from an offshoot of something universally accepted, such as the current date and year.
    About the "Purpose in life";
    I believe it cannot be a provision of a philosophy since anything anybody claims about it is subjective and individually perceived and the purpose is really what YOU give to your life. The philosophy which doesn't touch upon it is better than serving man-made half-baked falsehood like the concepts or heaven/hell/nirvana/rebirth etc.

      One Question, What happened to Charvaks?

    • @Glimpses
      @Glimpses  11 месяцев назад +2

      Hello @basantprasadsgarden8365 Charvaks remained a well known philosophy, apprantly till 14th century, when Vidyaranya swami composed Sarva Darshana Samgraha and mentioned the Charvakas in it. But thereafter we don't see it's mentions much. It is possible that, as mentioned in the video, Charvaka philosophy lacked the aspects such as purpose of life, hope or respite from miseries of life, which other philosophies offered. There are no stories, poems, songs associated to this philosophy which helps any school of thought get popularized among the masses. Thus, it appears that Charvaka Philosophy faded into obscurity with the passage of time.
