    Fascinating as always mate. Rust is bad unless it is on your channel, time to meet your maker destroyer of metal. This will be as interesting a watch as the 89 and many before it. Cheers for bringing us on the journey Marc. James’ pride and joy couldn’t be in safer hands.

    It’s interesting my 94 Mayfair has gone in exactly the same places. I’ve also recently bought a magnum flitch repair panel, with exactly the same ‘oil canning’ or popping in the panel. When the rib is pressed it must shrink in that area, causing the end of the panel to have too much material. I managed to flatten the panel by heat shrinking the area with too much material, it worked a treat. I used a small blow torch and dolly hammer to flatten the area once it had bulged up due to the heat

    • @SimpsonsClassics
      @SimpsonsClassics  Год назад

      That is good to know this isn’t the only one to be going in these places. Nice tip on the heating of the panel. We are currently working out what the next plan of attack is.

    Hi Mark
    You need to remove the coating on those panels anywhere you intend to weld on both sides. That coating gives of dangerous gases when you weld it otherwise. Please wear eye and breathing protection anytime you weld or grind I am in my sixties and I am on oxygen because I did not. I love your channel, please keep up the great content!

    Hi Marc, going to be a very interesting build this one. You mentioned Plusgas for rusty bolt removal but have you heard of Bulldog BDX. the guy on Cortina City swears by it as it penetrates rusty bolts & fittings that are over 40 years old, making them easily removable. Worth a look if you,re interested.
