I applaud your decision to omit Buffalo Trace from this list. They get too much attention already. The 1792 12 year is very good, just the low proof makes those great flavors light.
I saw a Barrel Bourbon Batch 31 at Total Wine in Lady Lake, Florida when I was visiting friends back in February. This was before I saw your recommendation. When I saw your recommendation, I called, but it was gone. I did get and really like batch 35.
I bet all of these would taste amazing. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but EC pirate bottles are not sitting collecting dust anywhere….at least not anywhere close to msrp I’m definitely being more picky these days about what I purchase. Waiting till I find a great barrel pick from a local store and pretty much just looking out for Booker’s, ECBP & Larceny BP as far as hunting goes. I’ve pretty much given up on anything Buffalo Trace.
There were 10 full pirate bottles being used as a display in an airport bar I was in recently. I could not convince them to sell me one, I really tried hard lol.
I’m usually on the lookout for almost anything at the right price. I agree on the Pirate bottle!! I see the Makers FAE’s, BRT’s, and BEP around me usually 100.00 bucks. I’ve seen Barrel 031 also at 100.00 bucks. I saw a Willet purple top 8yr I think and it was 250.00 I just bought the 1792 12yr last week for 70.00 bucks and it’s great! King of Kentucky would be awesome to get! Cheers!
Knob Creek store picks Elijah Craig store picks Old Label OF 1920 Maker’s Mark Private Selections JD SBBP store picks Russell’s Reserve store picks(especially Camp Nelson)
I was at a restaurant last night in a town that I hardly ever visit. They had Redwood Empire 14 Yr old Haystack Needle. It was absolutely delicious. I would buy that bottle if I ever found it in the wild.
+1 on the Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series. I have all of them except; 2019 RC6, and 2020 SE4xPR5. I will continue to search dusty shelves until I find those two! p.s.--if you were in Ca, I'd steer you to an FAE02 sitting on a local shelf.
BT is way too overhyped so 👏 to you for not putting it on there! Good list but so hard to find any if those in my area. My one I look for is OF birthday bourbon.
