great post PETE this is brilliant from 2 ladies who did it there way bless KATE AND ANNA always, they were a blessing on our world love and peace. j Vincent Edwards
I have loved Kate and Anna McGarrigle's music, ever since I first heard their French Album back in the early 1980's; it is still my favorite. Kate has gone too soon, that's for sure. She will be sorely missed. But what a legacy!
Kate and Anna's music has been part of my life since their first album. I first saw them in Manchester in 1976, and a few - too few - times after that. I don't think they realise how much love and joy they have given to the world. RIP Kate, and my thoughts are with Anna and the rest of Kate's family as the first anniversary approaches.
Kate will shine, every time we ear her singing, up above. Even in the weariest day, even in the darkest night, she will shine for all of us. God have blessed this lady. I´m just another broken heart.
I'm listening to Kate and Anna McGarrigle's recent release "Tell My Sister". It contains their amazing self titled debut and their second album "Dancer With Bruised Knees", which is also a highly pleasurable listening experience. The cream on the sundae is a third disc of unreleased demos and songs. I am regarded as having the best album collection known to man but this is the first time I've heard these two ladies and their music is gorgeous. You have to hear it, you will cry and laugh.
A beautiful and thoughtful homage - thank you! RUclips at its best .... regular folks posting their own interpretations of what a particular artist meant to them. Surely such submissions will be especially meaningful to the family and close friends as well, as they try to take the best from Kate's extraordinarily creative and personally inspiring life.
So pleased I am having collected a bunch of their LP's and CD's since the late 70ies. It started with the great Loudon Wainwright, Kate's guy. And father of Rufus and Martha Wainwright - check her out !!
Discovered them very late, incredible music.
Wonderful. Thank you!!

First heard these ladies on the Terry Wogan show when he was alive. Sounded pretty good then and still does now!!.

Love, Over and Over
Fantastic!
Pas de danger qu'on t'oublie, Kate.
Sorry, it was 1977 - as it says in the song, "in Rotterdam, in '77, I had a birthday" - they came to the UK after that.
Thinking of you today.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE! RIP!
