i cant believe this video popped out on my reccomended and gave me a title of the game ive been thinking about for years but couldnt remember anything about it except that it was point and click and the general terrifying aesthetic. antumbra has stuck with me since ive first watched someone play it on yt and im so glad i found it again !!! its such an interesting one, definetly one of my faves when it comes to weird surreal games, tysm for this video !!!
Hell yes its here! Definitely one of my fav iceberg videos ever. Happy to see many games I knew already and many that I didn't, can't wait to look into those myself. Again, loving the way you present each game, amazing job on the video yo!
I was wondering when you were gonna release the next part! I can’t watch rn, but I will in the morning! I’ll update this when I’ve started to watch. ^_^
Just went back and watched antumbra and apparently there was supposed to be a second game in the series, called chant of ash. It was supposed to have returning characters, new ones, more lore and voice acting. There's videos on RUclips about the pre alpha build 8 years ago around the same time Markiplier did his video on the first game, however I haven't found ANYTHING else about the game past pre alpha, would LOVE to see a deeper dive about the game
Weird and Unfortunate Things are Happening is a very good game and I was sooo looking forward to you covering it when I saw it was on the iceberg. You neeeeed to play further into it, it's so good.
Ok so I need to leave a comment. As a gratitude and as a help with algorithm, I just must. Thank you, this looks like it too so much time to make! Thanks for all the experience, and I just wanna share the feeling I got from watching this iceberg. ALSO, thanks for finally sharing the music you use in the vid, cause you know how vaporwave is with naming. Either way, you know how you watch someone and you think to yourself that you found the right person to cover the subject? That's the feeling I got from watching this iceberg. I don't know whether someone else covered similar or even same iceberg, but you seemed like the perfect person for the topic, since you seem to be captivated by the style and feelings that these games produce. Glad I got to watch someone actually interested in the subject that they cover, even if one could argue that this is how creators normally work. Subbed to you cause youtube recommended me part one of the iceberg a while ago when it was fresh, waited till completion and just binged all of it now. Once again, thank you, I look forward to more of what you have in store.
I was thinking, you should do a video about the 70 leaked Japanese video games. From what I understand, nobody has made any video showcasing all of the games.
1:20:45 Acephalic is the prefix "a" + "cephalic" - as in, "not of the head" or perhaps even "out of the mind" - it's more funny to say it as if it's 'skillful bepis' but it's "aye sefalic" Also, this video is fantastic and I subscribed :D One more edit: the second to last entry gave me a laugh because I'd heard of it and never expected to see it here. I can almost guarantee that the game was a cheeky art student project. (Source: was cheeky art student around the same time)
19:48 It's quite surprising seeing Surrealidade in the list, guiven it's a quite obscure one even in Brazil. don't know if anyone mentioned, but the original game it's from 1999. The game was his thesis work for College, that later got published and distributed with the help of some game magazines. Like the name sugest it's based in surrealist works of several artists, kinda teach you a little about the surrealism movent along the way... The 2022 version it's the definitive edition the creator developed after the game regain some reconiction thanks to a couple brazilian youtubers rediscovering it
There's a few games in this iceberg that you didn't cover, i assume that they were added to it at a later date after you did the video, there's also a few games that people mention in the comments under that iceberg that are pretty fitting. So how about covering those in that compilation video of the whole whole iceberg you promised at the end? it would be pretty cool.
19:47 I've been trying to find this game again for years and didn't remember neither the name nor the fact that it was from where I live hahaha. This game is amazing
What's that sound that plays in your intro? I swear I heard it a lot when I was a little kid or something because it sounds hella nostalgic and it's extremely familiar yet I can't remember it

This is awesome stuff! Loving the vinesauce memory lane trip. 1:12:31 can be hard to say since "Tz" is a non native English sound! It sounds like a cymbol crash, but if you pronounce it like just a 'z' you'll be close enough, "Zee-Zoom." The translation of צמצום is actually just "reduction" so whoever came up with that translation is taking some liberties.
Hey! Brazilian here! Surrealidade actually is from 1999, the steam version is a enchanced version released on 2022 after the game get some attention thanks to a youtuber called Gemaplys

was not expecting to see subway midnight mentioned here !! i got into it a while back and was in a fan discord server so i kind of forgot that its not that well known of a game but it is absolutely awesome
Sadly, Frog Days is likely vaporware. Swordofkings isn't working on it anymore. On a positive note, he would go on to create part of the soundtrack for Hypnospace Outlaw, a game that was possibly influenced by Frog Days.
great video but i had to just listen because the wavy flag effect on your video was making me want to barf . had to go get some water or i was gonna hurl for sure lol
Congrats on finishing this huge iceberg, Kappa. I don't mean to be rude, I love your vids. But you could've probably went in deeper into some of the games. I know it's just burnout after working on this series for ages but still. Like, at the start you went in deep and covered a lot of aspects, but you stopped playing them and just gave a half assed overview based on pictures. Your voice certainly didn't help to make the video more interesting. Not hating on it, just letting you know for future videos. I might still be pissed about how you didn't give some of the good games on the iceberg the time of day. There's a lot of them that are big rabbitholes, not just "le random surreal". Also, if you need to make RPG maker games run for a future vid, you have to download their corresponding RTP (Run time package). Each version has one, and it will let you run all of them no problem. The more modern RPG maker games don't need this, so maybe that's why you couldn't get some of them to work... Also, some may only be playable using a Japanese locale emulator. Cheers and looking forward to your next vid!
1:05:48 YOOOO HOLY SHIT BIG BANG!!!! Edit: Big bang and Top banana have the same people known as "Psycore" who worked on both. Also, the Clown is named "Jellyhead" and the red guy is named "Dr. Subtech".
Abt frog days, i was so in love with the visuals that i got in touch w the dev via email, told me he had stopped the game dev and is now making furries games. He still gave the gamefiles, i could try and retrieve them, its actually a cool experience for all it is !!
