    If you did not know the 767s were from Qantas airlines then when Qantas retired them in 2014 they were stored until westjet bought them in 2015

    Never ago I saw such an aged Boeing 767-300 in such a gorgeous new design. Espectially the cabin-moodlightings is such soothing. Yes. Westjet is a very good low-cost airline. With a very friendly- and good inflight-service. Of course you must charge for dining. But the food really tasted very fine.

      The plane is old but the paint scheme and the refitting of the wings to include winglets make it look like new.

    • @tyjoseph7343
      @tyjoseph7343 7 лет назад

      Markus Schult Yep! Westjets 767's went under a complete overhaul and refit. New wings & winglets, new engines, a completely new cabin design with sky interior lighting, new seats, and high speed Wifi.

    • @icedlongblack_
      @icedlongblack_ 7 лет назад

      +Ty Plouffe Not new at all, actually. All these seats are the former Qantas seats (as these planes were from Qantas) and had new covers on them. And, they just added mood lighting. Far from Sky Interior.

    • @MaliciousSRT
      @MaliciousSRT 6 лет назад

      I am almost positive that's a former Air Transat plane, or at least its got the exact same interior as a couple of them I flew on years ago. Blue vinyl seats with no built in entertainment systems.

    The 4 767's that are in westjet's fleet are ex Qantas 767's. They're very old but awesome aircraft and definitely my favorite domestic aircraft when Qantas flew them around Australia! They flew the 767 over a 737-800 on routes less then hour because of the cargo hold capacity #randomfacts

  • @MarcusLeepapi
    @MarcusLeepapi 8 лет назад

    Next time you go on the long haul flights see if you can leave a little bit earlier in the day so you can see the take-off better. You have a good seat to see the flaps as they are operated. Flying is always nice...

    • @Digital111

    • @HesserGrad
      @HesserGrad 7 лет назад +4

      I think WestJet is using the 767s to see if their wide body services are successful. If they are, I'm sure they'll be buying new planes like the 787 Dreamliner to replace them on the routes

    • @visforvendetta1326
      @visforvendetta1326 7 лет назад +2

      I hear there are going to invest in the dreamliners in 2017 so I think the 767's are just to explore new flight routes.

    • @CDNSpartan
      @CDNSpartan 7 лет назад +4

      Well it makes absolutely no sense to buy 4 brand new 787s and wait for them to be built and have the routes fail. The 767s were way cheaper and ready for them after the upgrades

      They are bad for 767s. They are always breaking down. The 767 itself is a very good plane though. Much better than the A310.

    • @calvinrovinescu6166
      @calvinrovinescu6166 8 лет назад

      +IMarkovic1995 there is nothing wrong with the personal device entertainment system and I actually find that it functions better than the seat back systems, though the seat back systems are positioned better. WestJet's 767s must be more comfortable than Transat's A310s. WestJet operates the standard 7 across seating configuration with standard pitch. Transat's A310s and A330s are 9 across which is almost unheard of for those planes and if people say that configuration is bad on the 787, it must be awful on the A310/A330. They do have an extra 1-2 inches of pitch though, but that doesn't really make up for the terribly narrow seat. I do not know the difference in service as I have never flown on Transat and have never been on an overseas WestJet flight.

    $15 for that? Seems that westjet is trying to make as much profits on the meals, as on the tickets.

      Yes, you have to pay for it and if you want a hot meal you have to pre-order online i think - otherwise they may not have enough onboard... it's 15CAD for the food shown in the video.

    • @PlaneSpottingBerlin
      @PlaneSpottingBerlin  8 лет назад

      It was good and most important on-time not like the other flight 3-1 weeks before my flight - sometimes they were delayed by 6 hours or so. Hope they got used to their schedule now.
      I found the experience more pleasant the Norwegian another budget airline flying from europe to the US

    There is something a bit weird about WestJet. I love the 767, thinking that WestJet is Southwest-North, I tried to book a PHX to London flight thru Calgary. The price was a little steep hinting it was given in Canadian dollars I double and triple checked, nope it was in US $. Then I went too Skyscanner looking for the best prices, Air Canada was the very cheapest out of the US, UK and Canadian airlines. It was a nonstop to Toronto connecting with the 767s for London Gatwick at $953 RT. A JetBlue connection to a British carrier was the next cheapest at $1180, WestJet was close to $1400. Does anyone understand WestJet pricing? They fly often to Phoenix and have a great reputation, is there a US citizen penalty? It's odd that a Toronto connection is priced low given its the most expensive Canadian airport for carriers to use and I understand many Ontario folks drive to Buffalo for better fares.

      @PlaneSpottingBerlin  8 лет назад

      +Bobby Paluga thats weird... how much time in advance did you searched for prices? I booked my westjet ticket YYZ-LGW like 7 months in advance and paid ~190€ oneway to London...

      +PlaneSpottingBerlin ✈ Aviation Videos To check prices I used the same period, the 2nd Tuesday in October to leave coming back 16 days later on a Thursday. I've read 100's the suggestion to fly on the two days of the week, of course if holidays are close to either day, you won't find deals. I really like Skyscanner with Cheap Fares as a control. If I come across a site that offers suggestions such as "if you fly 2 days later you can save $200, I follow the ideas. Funny deal Air Canada had a A319 on the outboard from Toronto, the return was a nonstop Dreamliner landing in Calgary connecting to an American (Air Canada code share) 737-800 to Phoenix. I just checked again WestJet is $922 RT, 1 stop in Calgary, British Airways $1,100 non-stop, Today was literally the first time WestJet has been in the least expensive group, I think I might go non-stop on a 747-400 with BA however. Thanks for the videos, really well done, edited perfectly

    • @PlaneSpottingBerlin

      always depends on the airline you are flying. normally you don't have to pay but on low-cost carriers like Norwegian or Westjet yes... also more and more airlines want to get paid extra for food and drinks on shorthaul flights
